This kit can also be used with other fabric items, not just T-shirts. As A.V. says, “If you can trace on it, you can use it. Tote bags also make a fabulous choice.” To create your design on your T-shirt, turn on the LED Tracing Pad; use the power button to adjust the brightness setting needed for you to easily light up the pattern through the top layer of your T-shirt. Tape your chosen pattern to the LED Tracing Pad and place inside your shirt. Use the included Fabric Marker to trace over the pattern, directly onto the fabric. Let the ink dry before moving on to the next step. Before you start painting in your design, remove the LED Tracing Pad and insert a piece of cardboard between the layers of your shirt to create a stable painting surface. This also helps to prevent any paint from soaking through to the back of shirt. The fabric paints in your kit can also be mixed to create new colors! Get creative and have fun customizing the design to make it truly your own. Once you’re happy with your painted design, let it dry completely (for at least 4 hours or more). The paints will dry permanent, soft and flexible on your shirt so it’s still comfortable to wear! Once dry, you can remove the cardboard and get ready to show off your design skills to friends and family. See how easy it is to design your own T-shirt? Try adding designs to other fabric items, or even creating custom gifts for the upcoming holiday season! Who wouldn’t love a personalized shirt or tote, made specially by you?! Easy Glow Bracelet DIYs
Grab the kids and create arm candy that pops with this easy glow bracelet tutorial from the Craft Box Girls. All you need is Tulip Dimensional Paint in bold neon glow-in-the-dark colors, some string, and popsicle sticks to make bracelets that stand out during the day and light up the night! Tulip Dimensional Paints are nontoxic and easy for all ages and skillsets to work with; it’s the perfect craft the fam can wear when the fun is done. What you need: - Tulip Glow-in-the-Dark Dimensional Fabric Paint Pack - Floss or string - Parchment or wax paper - Tape - Scissors - Popsicle sticks - Drinking glass or jar - Pot for boiling water - Tongs Cut a piece of wax or parchment paper large enough to work on, then cut 3 pieces of floss or string the same length for each dimensional paint bracelet you’re going to make. Tip: first measure your arm or your child’s arm to see how much length of string you’ll need to comfortably fit around your/their wrist. Tape the strands in place on your parchment paper. Use the Dimensional Paints to create your bracelets! Apply the paint directly onto the string. Craft Box Girls started with a thick section of paint along the string to create a base for the bracelets. You can add lots of different colored paint dots onto your base. Or you can get creative with zigzags, squiggles and other designs. Try new things and have fun experimenting! Once you are happy with your bracelet designs, let them dry completely. This could take more than a few hours depending on the thickness of your paint and the climate where you live. Once they are dry, simply peel them off of your parchment paper and they’re ready to wear! To make popsicle stick bracelets, first boil a pot of water. Once the water is boiling, throw in the popsicle sticks and allow them to boil for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, turn off the heat and let them soak in the hot water for 20 more minutes. Tip: boil twice as many bracelets as you plan to make because they sometimes break when you start bending and molding them. After the popsicle sticks are done soaking, use tongs to remove them from the water. Carefully bend and mold them to the inside of a glass or jar and allow to dry completely. Once dry, prop your rounded popsicle sticks on a jar or tube to hold in place as you decorate. Great creative with your Dimensional Paint designs! You can spell out your name, a special word or just cover them in paint. Once you’re finished, let your popsicle stick bracelets dry completely before wearing. Aren’t these bright neon bracelets so fun?! The kids can even make some for their friends to give as custom friendship bracelets! It’s a totally affordable and totally creative way to make some new accessories. Don’t forget to make them glow! Activate your new glow bracelets with UV, incandescent or black light according to the paint instructions. This doubles as a great family craft for Halloween-themed accessories, don’t you think?!
How to Throw a Tie-Dye Party in Your Backyard
Published Date: August 17, 2020 We’re all staying close to home these days, but that doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate special occasions or enjoy fun activities outdoors with close friends and family. We’re feeling super inspired by this amazingly bright backyard tie-dye party our friends over at Beijos Events threw for their kids, and we just have to share. So, if you’ve been searching for fun party ideas you can do outdoors, or you’ve been obsessing over tie dye lately (we can’t think of anything better to obsess over) and are wondering how to throw a tie-dye party, get the deets here. Are you ready for the best backyard party ever?! Supplies needed - Tulip One-Step Tie-Dye Kits of choice - White 100% cotton T-shirts - Colorful plastic table covers - Sealable plastic bags + permanent marker for labeling - Paper towels - Colorful decorations like balloons, flowers, etc. - Colorful napkins, paper plates and plastic utensils – choose lots of different colors - Colorful snacks of course! Instructions Tie-dye party invitations Are you ready to learn how to throw a tie-dye party that’ll make you the coolest parent/friend/neighbor ever?! First things first: invitations. There are a ton of options online to affordably create party invitations – get creative and add lots of color. It IS a tie-dye party after all! Tie-dye party table setting Now that you have the invites out, let’s set the stage. To throw a tie-dye party, you’ll want to decorate your backyard with lots of COLOR. Don’t be afraid to go full rainbow with it, mixing in lots of different colors with your party decorations. This doesn’t have to be expensive either. You can create a balloon arch as a backdrop (which also serves as a great photo spot for guests), and even use a wild mix of bright flowers as your table centerpieces. Colorful place settings for a backyard tie-dye party Paper plates and cups make cleanup at the end of the party extra easy; you can toss ‘em and move on! And luckily, finding them in a bunch of different colors is also easy and affordable. Have fun mixing & matching a variety of different-colored paper plates and cups into your place settings. And if you’re feeling extra fancy, you can even create cute little name cards for each guest like the Beijos crew. Prep dye bottles before the party starts Now it’s time for the tie dye! Cover all work areas with disposable plastic tablecloths to protect your surfaces while working with the dyes. Make sure to have paper towels handy, as well as sealable plastic bags the kids can store their tie-dye projects in while the dye processes. (Plus, it’s a great way to keep messes contained so they’re not setting their wet dye projects on other surfaces!) To speed things up, you can prep your dye bottles before the party starts, just keep in mind that you’ll want to do it less than 24 hours before the party. Dyes can lose their concentration after 24 hours, so we recommend waiting until just before the party starts. Dampen shirts and bind for desired tie-dye technique When it’s time to tie dye, have the kids (or hey, grownups too – tie dye is for everyone!) dampen their shirts in a bucket of water or under the faucet and wring out. Have them choose the tie-dye technique they want to try from the instruction guides included in your Tulip Tie-Dye Kits. Or you can find even more ideas on our tie-dye techniques page. Put on plastic gloves before dyeing projects Once the T-shirts are scrunched, folded and held secure with rubber bands, it’s time to add the tie dye! Each tie-dye kit comes with protective plastic gloves, so have everyone put on their gloves before working with the dyes. Add dye to projects – experiment and have fun Depending on the tie-dye technique, everyone can choose from one to as many dye colors as they like. They can follow the instruction guide or completely do their own thing. There’s no wrong way to tie dye! The most important thing about a tie-dye party is the experience of having fun being creative. Once everyone has tie dyed their T-shirt, place each shirt in a separate sealable bag and write the person’s name on their bag so they can take it home with them at the end of the tie-dye party. Backyard tie-dye party The fun doesn’t end after the tie dye though! It’s time to toast to a totally awesome backyard party, don’t you think?! Serve colorful treats at your backyard tie-dye party And let’s not forget about the snacks … you’ll want colorful treats to serve everyone to go along with your tie-dye theme. Popsicles offer so many colors and flavor options, and are a refreshing way to stay cool during time outdoors! Cupcakes, cookies and fruits are also great colorful treat options. Use balloons as a colorful tie-dye party photo backdrop You can’t have a tie-dye party without photos! A mix of colorful balloons makes the perfect backdrop for tie-dye party photos. How to throw a tie-dye party in your backyard Now that you know how to throw a tie-dye party in your backyard that everyone will remember, make the most of the warm days we’re still having. Grab your favorite tie-dye kits and your favorite people, and have some outrageously colorful fun!

Use your gloved hands to help work the dye into the fabric, making sure to rotate the fabric so you are able to cover different areas with dye. You can choose one color or use multiple colors for an even bolder tie-dye look! Even if your kiddos will be learning from home this semester, you can still celebrate their first day back to school! Norx in the Know shows you how easy it is to make the cutest custom sign for photos using COLORSHOT Premium Paint Products. You can make one to document their first day of the school year, then one for their last to compare how much your student has grown and changed throughout the year! If you have a die cutting machine, this will probably be the easiest and fastest way to make your stencil. If not, you can always hand create one on cardstock and use a craft knife to cut out the designs, or simply freehand draw and paint your designs onto the cardboard insert. Spray paint cardboard, then place stencil on top Before applying your stencil designs, spray paint the cardboard piece with whatever color of COLORSHOT Spray Paint you like! Once it’s completely dry, center your stencil over the top (taping in place if needed). Or if you aren’t using a stencil, here’s where you can use a chalk pencil to sketch your design before painting, or jump right in to freehand painting! Use your paintbrushes and COLORSHOT Acrylic Paints to apply your chosen colors of paint to the stencil designs. You can also use COLORSHOT Paint Markers for this step! Let dry and add a second coat if desired, and once completely dry, remove the stencil (if using). Write answers to questions with Paint Markers If you plan on saving this sign as a keepsake, you can write your child’s answers to the questions directly on the cardboard with the design, or you can save the sign for each year and write their answers on the frame glass with an erasable marker. That way you can change it out year after year with new responses! Place sign in the picture frame Now it’s time to capture your superstar student with their custom first day of school sign and photo. The school year will fly by, and before you know it, you’ll be snapping their last day of school photo with a whole new sign, and probably lots of new answers! Upcycle Project: DIY Hanging Planter
We’re always looking for a good upcycle project; there’s something so creative and exciting about repurposing an item in a whole new way, don’t you think? This plastic bottle upcycle project from Norx in the Know turns a 2-liter soda bottle into the cutest kitty cat hanging planter. With just a few craft supplies and Tulip Dimensional Fabric Paints, you too can make a hanging planter that’s absolutely purrrrfect. No one will ever know it used to be a plastic bottle! What you need: - Tulip Dimensional Fabric Paints (Pink Slick, Light Pink Slick and Black Slick shown here) - Plastic 2-liter bottle (one per planter) - White spray paint (COLORSHOT Premium Spray Paint used for this project) - Scissors - Marker - Yarn or string - Hole punch For this upcycle project, you’ll want to cut your 2-liter bottles in half and use the bottom halves. If you don’t want to just wing it when cutting, you can first use a marker to sketch a line around the halfway point of each bottle, creating 2 triangle shapes on one side for cat ears as shown. Once you have your bottom halves cut out, spray a coat of white spray paint onto the outside of each. Let dry completely. Once the painted bases are dry, create the cat faces using Dimensional Paints in your desired colors. If you’re nervous about freehanding the faces, you can first lightly sketch them on with a pencil. Let the painted faces dry, then it’s time to add your string and pot your plants! Punch a hole on each side of the planter and tie each end of yarn or string through the holes. Hang your adorable cat planters and enjoy the fact that you just made an upcycle project that also recycles, and adds good-for-you greenery to your space!

Our super creative team member Lindsay Sherfy customized this playhouse for her daughter, and we love it so much we’re ready to move in. It’s just our style! Whether you’re creating a playhouse from scratch like Lindsay or want to update one your child already has, get out the COLORSHOT and get ready to make their playtime adventures at home extra sweet this summer. What you need: - COLORSHOT Premium Spray Paint – desired colors (shown here: Stamped Passport, Splash, Sugarcoat It) - Playhouse - Masking tape - Heavy paper or plastic for protecting surfacesClean and mask off playhouse before painting Depending on what type of materials the playhouse is made from, you might want to test your spray paints in a hidden area to make sure the paint is compatible. (Some types of plastics might not be.) Make sure the playhouse is clean and free of dust, and remove or cover any portion you do not want painted in the main color. You can use masking tape and heavy paper or plastic to cover pieces or sections of the playhouse you can’t remove. Spray paint the house and let dry, then paint the roof Spray several light coats of your main house color onto the playhouse, letting dry between coats. Once completely dry, use tape and plastic or heavy paper to cover the house portion so you can paint the roof. Repeat spray painting the roof in several light coats of color. Note: it’s better to spray light coats instead of one heavy coat to avoid paint dripping and/or pooling. Paint fixtures and attachments before reattaching to the house Paint any fixtures or attachments before adding back on to the house. Lindsay painted the light fixtures Stamped Passport to match the roof, and the door Splash, a complementary shade of light blue. With so many to choose from, mixing and matching your COLORSHOT colors is a whole new creative adventure! Reattach fixtures to house and add decorative accents Once all playhouse fixtures and attachments are dry, reattach to the house. Now it’s time to add those fun decorative touches like welcome mats, plants, and whatever makes your little one feel at home in their playhouse. COLORSHOT Custom Playhouse We don’t know about you, but we’re ready for a refreshing glass of lemonade after all of this playhouse customization. And we know just the place to get one! Supplies needed - Tulip Americana One-Step Tie-Dye Kit - White 100% cotton T-shirt - Iron or heat-setting tool - Thin cloth - Disposable plastic table cover - Sealable plastic bag Instructions Prewash T-shirt and cover work surface Your Americana One-Step Tie-Dye Kit comes with all of the embellishments you need to make your own stars & stripes tie-dye T-shirt and other patriotic tie-dye creations. First you’ll want to tie dye your T-shirt before ironing on crystals or transfers. Wash your shirt (without fabric softener) and leave it damp. Make sure to cover your work surface with a disposable plastic cover before getting started on your tie dye! Pleat T-shirt and secure with rubber bands Lay your damp shirt out on your covered work surface and pleat it horizontally from the bottom hem to the shoulders using the stripes tie-dye technique. Secure your pleated shirt with rubber bands from your kit, evenly spacing your rubber bands about 2 inches apart. Add as many rubber bands as stripes you want to create, leaving a larger section of loose fabric at the top. Apply red and turquoise dyes to bound T-shirt Mix your red and turquoise dye with water according to instructions, then apply red dye to every other banded section. Apply turquoise dye to the top of the T-shirt, leaving the fabric crumpled a bit as you apply the dye. Make sure to rotate your bound T-shirt as you add dye so you get all sides. Once you’ve added the dyes, place your shirt into a sealable plastic bag and allow to set for the time recommended. Then remove the rubber bands, rinse and launder according to instructions. Heat set crystals onto T-shirt To heat set crystals onto the turquoise section of your shirt, first make sure your shirt is dry and ironed smooth. Place your crystals where you’d like them, and if using an iron, place a thin cloth over the top. Heat your iron without the steam setting on, then press the iron over the tops of the covered crystals, working in sections. Follow the instructions on your kit for full heat setting details. Check the crystals once they’ve cooled to make sure they are permanently set to the fabric, and add more heat if needed. Tulip DIY Americana Tie-Dye T-shirt Once your crystals are in place, you’re ready to shine in star-spangled style for the Fourth! You can also add transfers, change up your striping and so much more. Make your Americana tie-dye experience completely your own!

Ideas for Tie-Dye Men’s Shirts
Published Date: June 09, 2020 Whether you’re looking for the perfect Father’s Day activity or surprise gift, or you just know a guy who could use some help in the wardrobe department, you’re in luck. Our friend Mikyla Creates came up with these awesome ideas for dressing Dad (or the special guy in your life) in the season’s coolest trend – tie dye! See how to easily make three different tie-dye men’s shirt designs, because dads can wear tie dye too! Supplies needed - Tulip Two-Minute Tie Dye Kit of choice - White 100% cotton button-up men’s shirt - White 100% cotton long-sleeve men’s shirt or T-shirt - Disposable plastic surface cover - Scissors NOTE: For the shirts, make sure fabric is 100% cotton, does not contain any metal and buttons are microwave safe. Instructions Prewash shirts and cover work surface with plastic Before starting, wash all of the shirts (without fabric softener) and leave damp. Cover your work surface with a disposable plastic surface cover and prep your dyes by mixing with water according to instructions. Rainbow stripes tie-dye men’s shirt You can easily create this bright rainbow stripes tie-dye look on a long-sleeve or short-sleeve T-shirt. Follow the same steps to create either version! Pleat and bind for the stripes tie-dye technique, then add dyes Lay the damp shirt out flat on your covered work surface, then follow the stripes tie-dye technique for creating horizontal pleats on the top half of the shirt. Bind your pleated shirt with as many rubber bands as you’ll need to section off the amount of stripes you want on the shirt. Example: this shirt has 3 stripes, so you’d need 4 rubber bands. Add a different dye color to each banded section, rotating the fabric so you get the portions on the underside as well. Microwave according to instructions Once you’ve finished adding your dyes, make sure your fabric is still completely damp. If any portion has dried, mist with a spray bottle to re-dampen before placing into your Two-Minute Tie Dye container. Process in the microwave according to instructions. Men’s crumple tie-dye dress shirt There is everything right about a man in a pink tie-dye dress shirt, but you can recreate this look with any color you choose! The Two-Minute Tie Dye containers work with any Tulip One-Step Dye, so if you want a different color than what comes in your kit, you can absolutely use it. Check out our 1-Color Kits for other options. Crumple and bind shirt, then add dye Lay the damp dress shirt out flat on your work surface and follow the crumple tie-dye technique to scrunch the entire shirt. Bind with rubber bands to keep the pattern tight and super defined, then add your dye color all over the entire crumpled shirt. Once finished, place in your container and process in the microwave according to instructions. Half crumple tie-dye men’s dress shirt To create a half crumple tie-dye shirt, follow the same crumple tie-dye technique above, but on only half of the shirt. Crumple, bind and dye half of the shirt When processing in the microwave, you’ll still want to make sure the entire shirt is damp before placing into the container, even the undyed portion. Try to keep the undyed half in half of the container and the crumpled, dyed half to the other side so as not to get any unwanted dye on the undyed half. Process in the microwave according to instructions. Tulip Tie-Dye Men’s Shirts With all of these fantastic men’s tie-dye shirts to wear, your dad (or the special guy in your life) will be super stylin’ in a colorful way all year long!

How To Paint a Bike
If you haven't yet noticed, this is the year of getting back to riding your bike. And you're in good company if you're like us and you finally decided to haul your bike out of the back of the shed to take for a spin and gasped in horror at the cobwebs, flat tires and old chipped paint awaiting you. In this moment you probably hopped online and tried to order the newest, fanciest bike you could find; but you were out of luck, weren't you? Bikes are sold out everywhere! Luckily we're DIYers at COLORSHOT headquarters, so when we wondered how to paint a bike to bring it back to life, we grabbed our COLORSHOT spray paint and figured out HOW TO PAINT A BIKE. Our friend Mikyla Creates captured the process and will give your bike hope in this easy ombre painting tutorial. What you need: - COLORSHOT Premium Spray Paint in desired ombre palette (dark, medium, light) - Bike - Painter's tape - Protective plastic - Tools (to take bike apart) This bike could use a little love from COLORSHOT, don't you think? It's time to take it from pink to awesomely ombre! First choose your color palette. For an ombre look, you don't have to pick all colors in the same color family like Mikyla Creates; you'll just want a light, medium and dark shade that combine nicely together. Next wipe down your bike to remove all dust and debris. You'll want a completely clean surface before painting. Remove the seat, tires and chain, as well as any accessories like a basket you'll be painting a different color. Use painter's tape and plastic to tape off and cover any parts of the bike you won't be painting, or that you'll be painting different colors. You can use painter's tape on the ground to help mark your color transition points if you want. Or you can just wing it! Starting on one end of the bike, paint with your darkest shade, spraying several light coats instead of one heavy coat. Make sure to get all of those angles and hard-to-reach areas! Spray the middle section of the bike with your medium tone, blending some of the color into the darkest shade. Add your lightest shade to the other end of the bike, blending some of the color into the medium shade. Paint the handlebars a coordinating shade, blending into your lightest ombre color. If your bike basket needs a makeover, now's the time to paint it! Once all parts have completely dried, put your bike back together and admire your work! It's time to take this beauty out for a spin, don't you think? And with all of that extra cash you saved by learning how to paint a bike instead of buying a new one, you can treat yourself to a fun new adventure!
Summer Tie-Dye Kimono
Published Date: June 04, 2020 Forget scrolling for hours online trying to find the perfect summer pieces for your wardrobe and make the perfect wardrobe yourself! Holly from Club Crafted shows you how to use Tulip One-Step Tie Dye to create the essential summer staple – a bright tie-dye kimono. We’re obsessed and plan on wearing kimonos all season long because they make any outfit instantly more chic, whether you’re in skirts, shorts, pants, or even a swimsuit! Made by you, for you, a DIY tie-dye summer kimono is authentic and one of a kind – just like you! Supplies needed Tulip One-Step Tie-Dye Kit of choice White Kimono (prewashed, made of 100% natural fiber fabric such as cotton, rayon or silk) Wire rack Rubber bands Plastic wrap or large plastic bag Protective plastic covering for your work surface Instructions Wash kimono and leave damp First, wash your kimono and make sure it is completely saturated with water, then wring out the excess water. Mix dyes according to instructions Protect your workspace with a disposable plastic surface cover. Follow the product instructions to properly mix your dyes with water before beginning. Holly used six colors to dye her kimono, but you can use as many or as few colors as you’d like! Bind kimono with rubber bands following the bullseye technique Lay your Kimono flat, front side up, and get your rubber bands ready to create your tie-dye design! You can use any tie-dye technique you’d like for your look, but for this project, Holly used the bullseye tie-dye technique to create small bullseye patterns all over her kimono. To create a similar look, start by pinching the fabric in one spot and pulling it upward about 4 inches. Wrap a rubber band around this section at the base, then wrap another 2 inches above it. Repeat this process all over the kimono where you’d like the bullseye patterns to appear. Add dye to kimono in desired color patterns Arrange the damp kimono evenly on top of a wire rack to prevent the dye from pooling underneath the kimono. It’s okay if it gets scrunched up here! Put on the gloves provided in the kit and proceed to add dye to the sectioned-off bullseye shapes where you would like color to appear. You can make each bullseye a different color or several colors by applying a different color between each banded section. Wrap dyed kimono in plastic while dye sets Wrap your entire project in plastic wrap or place it into a large plastic bag and let the color set according to product instructions. Remove rubber bands to reveal design Once the set time is over, carefully remove the kimono from the plastic and cut off the rubber bands to reveal the designs. Be extra careful when cutting off the rubber bands so you don’t accidentally cut the fabric! Tulip Summer Tie-Dye Kimono Rinse the kimono under cool water until the water runs clear. Wash and dry according to kit instructions. Tulip Summer Tie-Dye Kimono Swoon! We love how vibrant and colorful this tie-dye kimono turned out. Tulip Summer Tie-Dye Kimono Whether you just jumped out of the pool or you are dancing your heart out to the grooviest tunes, this tie-dye kimono is sure to be your favorite thing to wear all summer long!
Quick and Easy Tie-Dye Handkerchiefs
Published Date: June 03, 2020 Handkerchiefs are the universal accessory; you can use them to tie up your hair, wear as a scarf, accent a handbag and so much more. However you like to wear your handkerchiefs, do it with the trend that's taking the season by storm - tie dye! Got a few minutes? Club Crafted shows you how quick and easy it is to create your boldest new accessories using Tulip Two-Minute Tie Dye and cotton handkerchiefs. Supplies needed - Tulip Two-Minute Tie-Dye Kit of choice - White 100% cotton handkerchiefs - Disposable plastic surface cover Instructions Twist damp handkerchief into a swirl Prep your work surface by covering with a disposable plastic surface cover, then wash your handkerchiefs (without fabric softener) and leave damp. Decide which tie-dye techniques you want to try on your handkerchiefs. For this one, Club Crafted used the spiral tie-dye technique. Lay your damp handkerchief out flat, then pinch the fabric in the center and twist it into a swirl. Bind with rubber bands Bind your swirled handkerchief with 3 rubber bands, crisscrossing the rubber bands to create 6 wedge shapes. Set aside. Accordion pleat and bind for the stripes tie-dye technique For the next handkerchief, Club Crafted used the stripes tie-dye technique. Accordion pleat your entire damp handkerchief with even pleats, then bind by wrapping rubber bands spaced along the handkerchief. Set aside. Triangle fold accordion style the next handkerchief For the last handkerchief, Club Crafted used the triangle fold, a technique similar to the folding tie-dye technique to create a cool grid pattern. To achieve this, lay the damp handkerchief out flat, then accordion fold the fabric from one side all the way to the other. Starting at one end, fold one corner over to meet the folded edge on the opposite side, forming a triangle shape. Fold this triangle shape back, accordion style, creating another triangle section. Continue accordion folding your triangle folds across the length of your fabric. Bind with a rubber band around each corner. Apply dye to projects Add water to your dye bottles and shake to mix, then apply desired colors to each of your bound handkerchiefs. You can add the dye in any patterns you like - there's really no wrong way to do it! Don't forget to flip your projects over and apply dye to the other sides as well. Microwave according to instructions Check to make sure your projects are still damp in all areas. If any portion has dried, mist with a spray bottle to re-dampen. It's important that the projects are completely damp when microwaving so as not to scorch the fabric. Place your dyed projects into the Two-Minute Tie-Dye Container and snap the lid securely shut. Process according to your instructions. Remove rubber bands, rinse and launder according to instructions Once your handkerchiefs have processed and cooled according to the instructions in your kit, remove the rubber bands, then rinse and launder per your instructions. Quick & easy tie-dye handkerchiefs Such a quick and easy way to make yourself some bold new accessories! Tulip Quick & Easy Two-Minute Tie-Dye Handkerchiefs Now you have some fun new tie-dye handkerchiefs on the ready for any and every summer excursion!
Easy DIY Donut Clutch
June 5 is National Donut Day, and if that’s not reason enough to celebrate with some sugary, frosted goodness, we don’t know what is. We teamed up with Mikyla Creates to show you how to sprinkle some extra creativity into your day with a sweet donut-themed clutch that’s perfect for National Donut Day, and any other everyday adventure. You only need a few simple craft supplies like Tulip Fabric Markers some white fabric, and a cute clutch (you probably already have) to get this fun project under way. The best part about this project is that once your new donut clutch is complete, you can take it out and treat yourself to the real deal! What you need: - Tulip Fabric Markers - Clutch bag - White fabric - Aleene’s Quick Dry Fabric Fusion - 2 Bowls (one for outer ring of donut shape and one for inner ring) - Embroidery thread (desired color) - Embroidery needle - Scratch paper - Pencil - Scissors For your “donut” fabric, you can use any scrap fabric you have, like a white T-shirt, an old tote, canvas fabric, etc. Make sure it’s clean and ironed smooth before starting your project. Choose bowls the size of the donut template you want to create for your clutch. Trace the large bowl first onto a piece of scratch paper, then the smaller one in the center of the large one. Cut out your donut shape from the paper and test it against your clutch to make sure it fits how you like it. Adjust the size if needed. If you want, you can practice drawing sprinkles on your paper template before starting on your fabric! When you’re ready, place your paper donut template onto your white fabric and lightly trace it with a pencil. Cut out. Cut out donut shape from fabric. Choose the color palette you’d like for your sprinkles and draw onto your cut fabric. Let dry completely. Optional: Use embroidery thread to create a simple stitched line around the edges of your donut shape. What you need: - Tulip Tie-Dye Fashion Kit - Disposable plastic surface cover - Wire rack (optional) - Sealable plastic bags Your Tie-Dye Fashion Kit comes with pretty much everything you need right in the box! Prep your work surface with a disposable plastic surface cover, and make sure you pre-wash your cotton accessories (without fabric softener) before dyeing. Leave them damp (unless you won't be dyeing them until later, in which case, make sure to damped before tie dyeing). To create a striped headband like shown here, see the following steps. Wrap 3 to 4 evenly spaced rubber bands around the damp headband, depending on how many dye colors you want to use. Mix your dyes according to the kit instructions, then place your bound headband on a wire rack (optional) to help prevent pooling of dye underneath the headband. You can apply dye colors as shown with the rubber bands in the center of each color, or you can apply the dye colors between each rubber band. It's completely up to you! Don't forget to rotate the headband to apply the dyes to the sides and back side as well. Once you've finished applying dyes, place it in a sealed bag to keep damp while the dye sets for 6 to 8 hours or overnight. To create a spotted tie-dye scrunchie like shown, see the next step! You can also try binding your scrunchie with rubber bands if you'd like, or freestyle it with random dots of dye everywhere! Flip over and repeat on the backside, then place in its own sealed bag to keep damp while the dye sets. To add cool tie-dye stripes to your scarf, check out the following steps! First fold your damp scarf into quarters. Wrap rubber bands evenly spaced along the length of the folded scarf. Add desired dye colors to each bound section, making sure to rotate scarf so you apply dye to all sides. Place the dyed scarf in a sealable bag to keep damp while the dye processes. Are you ready to rock your fab new tie-dye fashion accessories?!
Easy DIY Tie-Dye Garland
Published Date: June 01, 2020 Whether it’s a graduation, birthday, an engagement, or it’s just finally Friday night, there’s always a reason to celebrate! Handmade Charlotte shows us how to put the perfect finishing touch on any festivity or brighten any room with decorative color using this joyful tie-dye garland. Bring in the spirit and fun of the biggest summer bashes, even if the bash is now virtual! There’s no reason not to celebrate life’s little moments, and this adorable and easy project will be there to remind you of all you have to enjoy! Supplies needed Tulip Two-Minute Tie-Dye Kit of choice 100% cotton white cloth napkins Rotary cutter and a cutting mat, or scissors Double-sided tape Yarn or string A plastic cover to protect your workspace Microwave Oven mitts Disposable plastic surface cover Instructions Swirl and bind damp cloth napkins Prep your workspace by protecting it with a disposable plastic cover. Wash your white cloth napkins (without fabric softener), making sure they are completely damp. For this garland, Handmade Charlotte used the spiral tie-dye technique, but feel free to use any tie-dye technique you’d like! To make the spiral design, lay your damp cloth napkin flat on your work surface. Pinch the center of the cloth between your fingers and twist your wrist in a clockwise motion until you create a spiral. Crisscross two rubber bands in an ‘X’ shape to secure. Add water to dye bottles and shake to mix Mix your dye! Fill your One-Step Dye bottles to the fill line, tighten the lid so it is secure, and shake until the dye is completely dissolved. Do this for all colors you wish to add to your garland. Add dye colors to fabric Put on the gloves provided in the kit and get ready to dye your spiral. Handmade Charlotte uses two colors on each cloth in an alternating pattern for her design, but you can use as many colors as you’d like, such as a different color for each wedge! Think about how you can incorporate your favorite color combos and get to work dyeing the segments of your spiral. Be sure to saturate each segment fully with color, and don’t forget to flip your bound fabric over and add dye to matching sections on the back side. Place dyed fabric into Two-Minute Tie Dye Container Once you’ve added your dye colors, make sure the fabric is still completely damp before placing it into the Two Minute Tie-Dye container. If any portion of the fabric has dried, mist with a spray bottle until saturated again. Close the lid tightly and microwave for the time recommended in the instructions based on your project and microwave wattage. Wearing oven mitts, carefully take the container out of the microwave, and let it cool for 15 minutes with the lid still intact so your dye can finish processing. Open the lid and let the fabric cool for an additional few minutes, until it is cool to the touch. Check out your product instructions for more detailed information! Rinse and launder fabric napkins according to instructions Once the project is cool, carefully cut off the bands to see your design! Rise the cloth under cool water until the water runs clear, then proceed to wash and dry the fabric according to kit instructions. Cut cloth into desired shapes After your fabric is clean and dry, using a rotary cutter and cutting mat or scissors, cut your cloth napkins into smaller squares, rectangles or any shape or design you can think of! Leave one top edge of each piece of fabric with a straight edge so you can attach it to the string in the next step. Attach string to fabric with double-sided tape Lay out your cut shapes in the order you want them for your garland, with the straight edges in line along the top. Keep a small and even space between each cloth. Apply a piece of double-sided tape to the top edge of each cloth and lay one piece of yarn or string along the tape. Fold the top over into the tape to secure the fabric to the string. Repeat process, creating a new strand for each color, or have fun with it and mix and match your tie-dye fabric any way you like! Display your garland just the way you like Hang your garland in front of your favorite video chat background and be prepared to immediately want to celebrate the (virtual) night away! PS. When the fun is done, hang your tie-dye garland in any room for added color that’ll make you smile on the daily.
Repaint a Light Fixture with COLORSHOT Spray Paint
Have you run out of things to spray paint in your house at this point? Because we can always give you more ideas! Fixtures tend to be smaller details in our living spaces, but they can make a HUGE difference on the overall impact of a room. Everything from your light fixtures down to your cabinet handles - it all matters! Especially when the fixtures came with your house but they're not totally your style. But that's okay, don't give up your dreams of having beautiful fixtures, because you can easily make them everything you envisioned with COLORSHOT Premium Spray Paints. We're loving this simple light fixture revamp from @citygirlmeetsfarmboy, who used COLORSHOT to give her bathroom light fixture a whole new life. What you need: - COLORSHOT Premium Spray Paint in desired color + Primer - Light fixture - Protective covering for work surface Here's a before shot of @citygirlmeetsfarmboy before her impactful light fixture upgrade and bathroom revamp. Carefully remove your fixture, as well as the light bulbs, before painting. You'll want to make sure your fixture is clean and free from any dust and debris before you begin painting. As always when working with any spray paint, make sure you are in a well-ventilated area (like outdoors), and cover any work surface you don't want paint on. If your light fixture is made from a shiny metal (as most are), you'll want to basecoat it with Primer. Spray several light coats of COLORSHOT Primer onto the fixture, allowing it to dry between coats. The Primer helps give the spray paint color extra gripping when you're ready to apply it! Once the base is primed, spray several light coats of your chosen COLORSHOT Spray Paint onto the fixture, letting dry between coats. Tip: It's better to spray several light coats instead of one or two heavier coats to help prevent pooling and to create an extra-smooth finish on your fixture. Once you're happy with the coverage, let it dry completely. Once her light fixture completely cured, @citygirlmeetsfarmboy remounted with new sconces for an extra personal touch. Didn't it turn out so amazing?! See how easy it is to make such a big impact in your space with just a few simple changes? Are you feeling inspired to grab a can of COLORSHOT and paint all of the light fixtures in your house right now? Because we totally are. Weekend project here we come!
How to Make a Tie-Dye Picnic Blanket
Summer is just around the corner and that means sunbaths, pool days, and backyard picnics! And nothing ties together a perfect picnic on a lazy, sunny afternoon quite like lounging on a bright, happy tie-dye blanket. Using a Tulip Two-Minute Tie-Dye Kit, Club Crafted shows us how to add the quintessential splash of summer color to all of our upcoming backyard adventures faster than ever before! Lying poolside has never felt so refreshing, with colors that rival sweet berries and juicy watermelon, you’ll adore this delicious summer accessory to brighten up your private oasis year-round! What you need: Tulip Two-Minute Tie-Dye Kit A thin, white 100% cotton blanket or a Turkish towel A plastic cover to protect your workspace Microwave Oven mitts First, wash your blanket and make sure it is completely saturated with water. Wring out the excess water, but make sure the material stays sufficiently damp so that way it won’t scorch later on in the microwave! Be sure to protect your work surface with a disposable plastic covering before getting started with your dyes. Mix your dye! Fill the Tulip Two Minute Tie-Dye bottle to the fill line, tighten the lid so it is secure, and shake to mix until the dye is completely dissolved. Repeat with all the colors you wish to add to your blanket. Along the folded edge of the blanket, starting on one side, wrap a rubber band around a third of the fabric a few inches down from the top of the fold. Wrap another one around the bound fabric about an inch above the first. Repeat this twice more with the remaining thirds of the blanket as shown. Bind the rest of the blanket with two more rubber bands, several inches apart. This is just one way to do it, but feel free to get creative with how you tie your blanket! Put on the gloves provided in the kit and apply the dye to the areas of your blanket you wish to add color to. Rotate the blanket as you add dye, applying the dye between the folds and to all sides. Leave white space between the different colors so they don’t mix and become muddy. Make sure to flip your blanket over and repeat this process on the other side until you achieve your desired look! Immediately place your dyed blanket into the Two Minute Tie-Dye container. Make sure your blanket is still completely damp before placing it into the container. If any portion of your blanket has dried, mist with a spray bottle until damp again. Adjust your blanket if needed to completely fit into the container and close tightly. Next, microwave it for the time recommended in the instructions based on the size of your project and microwave wattage. Wearing oven mitts, carefully take the container out of the microwave, and let it cool for 15 minutes with the lid still intact. Open the lid and let the blanket cool for an additional few minutes, until it is cool to the touch. Check out your product instructions for more detailed information! Once your blanket is ready, carefully cut the rubber bands off to reveal your unique design! Rinse and launder your blanket according to the kit instructions. Be it a picnic, pool day, or an afternoon nap, your custom new creation is ready to be the perfect accessory for all of your summertime adventures!

What you need: - COLORSHOT Premium Acrylic Paints (desired colors) - Canvas - Paintbrushes - Paint palette - Pencil (optional) If you aren't comfortable freehand creating your letter, you can first sketch it out lightly on the canvas with a pencil. Then begin painting with your base color. Because COLORSHOT dries quickly, apply lighter coats at a time, building layers as needed. Let your base accent color dry a bit before adding the main color. If you'll be working accent designs like flowers over the top of your letter, brush the paint around the designs on the letters. Use a detail brush like a liner paintbrush to add in detailed designs, starting with your darkest colors. Use lighter colors to add highlights. Once you're happy with your design, let it dry completely before displaying. COLORSHOT Acrylic Paints dry to the touch in 30 minutes! How pretty is this letter J?! And remember, COLORSHOT Acrylic Paints are mixable, so you can create your own custom colors if you don't have the shade you're looking for. Here are a few more letters to get you inspired! What letter will you create with COLORSHOT? Try this letter painting technique to make your own monogram, a set of letters for a word, or as a fun gift for friends and family.
