Tulip Electric Neons Tie-Dye Swimsuit

Summer isn't over YET, and we're planning on staying poolside as long as we possibly can. So we're turning up the heat til the leaves start changing with the Tulip Electric Neons Dye Kit. The shockingly bright dyes work on both natural and synthetic fabrics, making it so easy to DIY tie-dye swimsuits that sizzle like the sun. Annie Papi shows you how to keep your summer fun going with this tie-dye swimsuit tutorial using the Electric Neons Dye Kit. Grab your suit and get ready to make a splash!

Supplies needed

- Tulip Electric Neons Dye Kit

- White swimsuit

- Protective plastic surface cover

- Sealable plastic bag

- Extra rubber bands or zip ties (optional)

Instructions

Dampen swimsuit or leave dry before dyeing

Dampen swimsuit or leave dry before dyeing

Make sure your work surface is protected with a plastic surface cover before starting your tie-dye swimsuit project. Annie dampened her swimsuit before tie dyeing to allow the dyes to blend and flow through the swimsuit fabric, but it’s up to you whether you want to leave it dry or dampen your own. Leaving it dry will offer less dye flow but more defined tie-dye patterns.

Bind swimsuit with rubber bands

You can bind your swimsuit using any tie-dye technique you like! Annie wrapped rubber bands randomly around hers. To do this, simply pull up small sections of the swimsuit and tightly wrap rubber bands around each section until you have the whole suit bound as shown. This will make for some cool abstract tie-dye patterns!

Apply dye to swimsuit

Wearing the protective plastic gloves that come in your kit, apply your Electric Neons Dye to the swimsuit. Use your gloved hands to help work the dye into the fabric, making sure to rotate the fabric so you are able to cover different areas with dye. You can choose one color or use multiple colors for an even bolder tie-dye look!

Place in a sealable bag and allow dye to set

Once you’ve added the dye to your swimsuit, place it in a sealable bag and allow it to process for the time recommended in the instructions. Then wash and dry according to instructions and the label on your suit.

For a softer pastel neon shade, Annie rinsed this swimsuit a few hours after applying the dye before it had time to fully set. Experiment with yours and find out what neon tie-dye styles suit you best!
