Galaxy Painted Pumpkins

Glow-in-the-Dark Galaxy Painted Pumpkins

This Halloween, forget the ooey-gooey mess of carving pumpkins and start a new tradition with Tulip Fabric Paints! Craft Box Girls will help you launch your creativity into orbit by painting galaxy pumpkins glowing with galactic flair. What you need: - Tulip Glow in the Dark Puff Paints 6 Pack - Tulip Brush-On Fabric Paints - Faux pumpkins - Paintbrushes, sponges and/or sponge brushes - Paper plates This pumpkin painting activity is one the whole fam will enjoy! The most difficult part is picking which paint colors to use (because we have a lot to choose from). Everyone can opt for darker colors or get extra colorful with their space-themed palette, depending on the designs they want to create. Before getting started, make sure each pumpkin has been wiped clean and any stickers removed. For both the constellation and moon glow pumpkins, you’ll want to start with a basecoat of black paint. You can either brush it on or sponge it, and after it dries, randomly sponge on other paint colors you’d like for your galaxy. Tip: Don’t worry about cleaning your sponge in between different paint color applications; sponging them together will create cool color blending effects! For the constellation pumpkin, sponging on some white paint over the darker colors will create the illusion of stars speckled throughout your sky. Next use Puff Paint in Natural Glow to create constellations and stars. (Not sure which constellations to choose? You can find easy designs by searching online!) For the moon pumpkin, dry dabbing glitter paints onto your dark base for sparkling starry night effects. Then brush or sponge white paint in the shape of a crescent moon over your base. Dab on gold or silver glitter paint, the outline your moon with Yellow or Natural Glow Puff Paint. Craft Box Girls also wanted to include an Earth pumpkin in her galaxy mix! To create your own, sponge on a blue paint base for water, then brush or sponge on continents with green paint. Once you have your continents formed, outline them with Green Glow Puff Paint to match! After your painted pumpkins have completely dried, it’s time to get cosmic with your Halloween décor! Don’t forget to display your galaxy pumpkins in a place where they can glow! Set out on your porch to light the night for trick-or-treaters, or somewhere inside for your own little ghouls and goblins to enjoy. Fabulous Furniture Makeover with Tulip

Fabulous Furniture Makeover with Tulip

Looking for an easier alternative for projects that need a little reupholstery? Try Tulip ColorShot Interior Upholstery Spray! Learn how to give old furniture a fresh new look with this tutorial from Ashley Lowe. With a wide variety of colors to choose from, it’s easy to customize your home décor with Tulip! What you need: - Tulip ColorShot Interior Upholstery Spray - Vacuum - Drop Cloth - Painter’s tape - Garbage bags - Scissors Before you get started on your project, vacuum the furniture you’ll be using. A bristle and crevice attachment work great for thorough cleaning! Lay a drop cloth onto a well-ventilated area, such as your driveway or back yard, and place your furniture on top. If your furniture has material that you don’t want painted, such as the wooden arms and legs of a chair, use painter’s tape around the edges of where the fabric and wood meet. Cut strips of garbage bags to the appropriate size and wrap the bulkier parts of the legs and arms of your furniture. Secure with more painter’s tape as needed. This will prevent overspray on the areas that you don’t want painted! Now for the easiest part: paint! Shake the can of Tulip ColorShot Interior Upholstery Spray for at least a minute, hold the can 6 to 8 inches away from the fabric, and spray with smooth, even strokes. Apply one coat at a time, waiting 5 minutes to dry between coats. Add additional coats to achieve desired color and intensity. Allow your painted furniture to dry completely for at least 72 hours, then carefully remove the painter’s tape and garbage bags. Your furniture makeover is now complete! Bring your refurbished piece inside and decorate with matching throw pillows to make it extra comfy! Are you upcycling your thrifted furniture finds with Tulip? Allow Oh Yay Studio to lead the way in constructing a captivating and glow-in-the-dark ghost costume with the Tulip Glow in the Dark Tie-Dye Kit. Prepare for a Halloween appearance that is not only memorable but also radiates an enchanting luminescence! Materials You'll Need: Tulip One-Step Glow in the Dark Tie-Dye Kit Flat kid’s bedsheet (100% cotton) Scissors Instructions:Step 1: Prep Your SheetFirstly, ensure to prewash and thoroughly dry your kid's cotton bedsheet. Decide on the folding method; here, we follow Oh Yay Studio’s accordion tie-dye technique.Step 2: Mix the Tie-Dye SolutionsAdhering to the package directions, prepare the tie-dye solutions. Fill each bottle up to the marked “Water Fill” line, then securely reattach the nozzle and cap. Shake each bottle energetically for at least a minute. Remove the cap again, add the Glow Mixer up to the “Mixer Fill” line, replace the nozzle and cap, and shake for an additional minute.Step 3: ApplicationWith gloves on, meticulously apply your chosen Glow Tie-Dye color to every section of the folded bedsheet, ensuring it seeps into all the nooks and crannies. While applying, continuously work the solution into the fabric and shake the bottle periodically for even glow pigment distribution. Ensure the bedsheet is dry before application for optimal results.Step 4: Drying & WashingAfter the application, unfold the bedsheet and lay it flat to air-dry for 24 hours, allowing the dye to set in. For even drying, flip the sheet midway through the drying process. Upon drying, wash it with cold water and mild detergent on a delicate setting, then air-dry.Step 5: Eye Holes CreationHave your child wear the sheet, marking the fabric where their eyes align. Cut out the eye holes carefully, and voila, your glowing ghost costume is ready to steal the show! Charge the glow pigments by exposing the costume to sunlight for 30-60 seconds or use a flashlight for night-time recharging.Get Creative! We’d love to see the innovative costumes you come up with using the Tulip Tie Dye Kit this Halloween! Raised Webbing Spider-Man Cosplay Mask with Puff Paint

Raised Webbing Spider-Man Cosplay Mask with Puff Paint

Everyone’s friendly neighborhood Spider-Man has been a staple in comic books, movie screens, lunchboxes, and backpacks— it’s never hard to spot a Spider-Man on Halloween or at your local Comic Convention! Take your Spider-Man cosplay to the next level with Tulip! This tutorial from Scrapper Costuming will show you how to upgrade your store-bought Spidey costume using Tulip Puff Paints for raised webbing designs. What you need: Tulip Puff Paint, Black Tulip Black Fabric Marker (optional) Spider-Man Mask Cardboard Binder or sewing clips Before painting, tap the bottle down to prevent bubbles from ending up in your paint lines. If your Spider-Man mask doesn’t have printed webs, you may want to draw on some web guidelines with a Tulip Fabric Marker to trace with Puff Paint. For extra neat results on your Spider-Man cosplay, take a moment to practice drawing neat, straight lines, joining ends of paint lines, and changing the pressure to change the thickness of paint on a piece of scrap cardboard. Stretch the Spider-Man cosplay mask over a piece of cardboard and position it so the mask is taut and flat. Place clips on the end to help hold the mask in this position. Use black Puff Paint and trace the web pattern on the mask to match your webbing. Make sure to match the width of your paint lines to the width of the printed webs on your Spider-Man cosplay mask to ensure the most realistic effect! Try to keep a consistent speed while painting for crisp and neat lines. Allow the freshly-painted section to dry completely. Once the Puff Paint is dry, unmount the Spider-Man cosplay mask and reposition and clip it so that an unpainted section is stretched across the cardboard. Repeat steps 2-4 until all web lines on your Spider-Man cosplay mask are painted. A second layer of Puff Paint will give the webs an even more 3D appearance if a more prominent effect is desired! After painting is complete and all the Puff Paint has dried, remove the mask from your board and attach eyes for your mask. Try taking this custom cosplay a step further and use Puff Paint on the whole Spidey suit! Enjoy wearing your raised webbing Spider-Man cosplay whenever you need a friendly neighborhood Spider-Man! How are you using Tulip Puff Paints to customize your cosplay? Whether it’s for Halloween or a Comic Convention, we want to see your pictures of Spider-Man cosplay with Tulip! How To Use Brush-On Fabric Paint for Paint Pouring

How To Use Brush-On Fabric Paint for Paint Pouring

Wondering how to do the paint pouring technique with Fabric Paint? Check out this easy step-by-step paint pouring tutorial using Tulip Fabric Paint! What you need: Tulip Brush-On Fabric Paints in desired colors - Canvas pouches - Painter’s tape - Cardboard - Disposable plastic cups - Plastic bag - Cardboard box or plastic bin you can rinse out - White glue - Stir stick Step 1 For this paint pouring tutorial, you’ll want to prep your pouch (or other fabric item) by first cutting a piece of cardboard to fit inside to help create a taught, stable surface. Cover the cardboard piece in plastic, smoothing it out as much as possible, then place into the pouch/fabric. Tape off any areas you don’t want covered in paint, like the zipper of the pouch. Step 2 In a disposable plastic cup, mix 1 part white glue with 1 part water. Step 3 Now we’re going to learn how to use fabric paint for paint pouring! Pour some of each fabric paint color into its own disposable plastic cup. Next add the glue/water mixture into each and stir thoroughly to mix. Your mixing ratio is 1 part glue/water mix to 4 parts fabric paint. You’ll want your mixture to be pourable but not too runny. Test and add more glue/water mix if needed. Step 4 In another plastic cup, pour one color of fabric paint mix, then pour another color mix over the top. Keep alternating colors to form a bullseye effect like shown. Step 5 Working over a cardboard box or bin you can clean out if you spill, place your stretched, taped off pouch on top of the cup of fabric paint containing all of the colors. Holding each together tightly, flip over so the cup is now on top of the pouch. Hold things this way for a few seconds to let the paint start flowing down towards the pouch. Step 6 Lift the cup up and watch all of that beautiful fabric paint flow! Step 7 Tilt and rotate the pouch, allowing the fabric paints to flow over it in order to coat the entire pouch. Tip from Handmade Charlotte: If you can’t get the mixture to cover some of the areas of the pouch, don’t stress! Simply pour any leftover paints from the original cups onto the pouch, or any paint remaining in the cup of mixed paints, onto those exposed spots. You don’t want to rotate the pouch around too much so your paints keep a nice pattern and don’t blend a ton and become muddy. Step 8 Once your pouch is covered with fabric paint, set it down to dry for at least 24 hours. Step 9 Wasn’t that an easy paint pouring tutorial? Look how bright and fun these pouches turned out! Now they’re ready to take with you on errands, school or work, trips and other adventures. Step 10 Now that you know how to use fabric paint for paint pouring, what else will you create with this technique? Tag us on social @tulipcolorcrafts and share your creations with us!

Reverse Tie-Dye Technique

Reverse Tie-Dye Technique

Yes, tie dyeing in reverse is real & results in amazing designs by first removing color with your design and then adding dye. Steps Step 1: The reverse tie-dye technique is different from other tie-dye techniques! For this one, you’ll want a darker 100% cotton T-shirt you can remove the color from with the included Color Changer. Leave your shirt dry and crumple into a tight mound. Secure your crumpled shirt with rubber bands to hold in place. Step 2: Place your dry crumpled shirt onto a rack if using, then mix up one of the bottles of Color Changer from your Reverse Tie-Dye Kit according to instructions. Wearing the gloves from your kit, apply the Color Changer liquid to all exposed parts of the crumpled shirt, rotating the fabric as needed. Use your gloved hands to help work the Color Changer into the fabric. Allow the Color Changer to set, gradually removing the color from the fabric. Check it regularly and when you are happy with the effects, remove the rubber bands and immediately rinse and wash according to instructions. Step 3: Once your shirt has been washed, leave it damp and lay it flat on your covered work surface. Apply your chosen dye colors randomly over the shirt, especially in the lightened sections so you can really see the dye pop! Step 4: Once you’ve added your dyes, carefully gather your shirt and place it into a sealable plastic bag or wrap in plastic wrap to keep it damp while the dye completely processes. This will take 6 to 8 hours or overnight if you want to give it some extra time. After the dye processes, rinse and launder according to instructions.

Ice Dye Technique

Ice Dye Technique

No need to mix up your dyes for the ultra-cool ice tie-dye technique! Let the ice do the work to produce one-of-a-kind watercolor tie-dye effects. Steps Step 1: Wash your shirt (or other fabric item) and leave damp. You don't have to presoak your fabric in soda ash before dyeing because Tulip One-Step Tie Dye contains soda ash in the formula! Lay your damp fabric out flat on your covered work surface and decide which tie-dye technique you would like to create before adding your dyes. With the ice dye technique, the crumple tie-dye technique (shown) works great, but you can experiement with other techniques if you want. There's no wrong way to tie dye! Step 2: Place your damp shirt on a wire rack (over a bucket is recommended to catch the dye as it melts). Scrunch your shirt into a tight mound and use rubber bands to hold the fabric tightly in place. Cover your entire project with ice. Step 3: For the ice tie-dye technique, you don’t need to mix your One-Step Dyes with water before dyeing your project. The ice is going to do the work! Remove the nozzles from your dye bottles and sprinkle the powder randomly over the ice. Get creative with it – there’s no dye placement strategy here! You can add as many dye colors as you like. Step 4: Once you’ve added your dye powders, let the ice completely melt. As the ice melts, it will transfer the dyes to the shirt underneath for cool watercolor patterns. Depending on where you live and the weather temperature, it could take a while for the ice to melt or not much time at all. If the ice melts quickly, you can then place your project into a sealable bag and allow the dye to set for 6 to 8 hours. If it takes about this long for the ice to melt, it’s time to skip the bag and move on to the next tie-dye step! Step 5: Once your ice has melted, remove the rubber bands and check out your cool ice crumple tie dye! Rinse, wash and dry according to your instruction guide.
