DIY Faux Stained Glass Keychains

DIY Faux Stained Glass Keychains

Here’s a fun craft that’s incredibly easy and makes for a great gift or treat for yourself … because we all carry keys, and everyone needs a keychain! With a little paint and Aleene’s Clear Gel Tacky Glue, you can create a stained glass look on a keychain or any other trinket. Crafterward will walk you through how to put together your faux stained glass keychain and finish it with Aleene’s Acrylic Matte Sealer to add an extra layer of protection. What you need: - Aleene’s Acrylic Sealer – Matte Finish - Aleene’s Clear Gel Tacky Glue - Plexiglass flower with keyring hole - Paint in desired colors + white - Small wooden circle - Paintbrush - Bowl for mixing glue/paints - Keychain hardwareStep 1 Mix about a tablespoon of Aleenes Clear Gel Tacky Glue with a VERY small drop of paint in your desired color. Keep mixing until the glue takes on the color of the paint this will create that transparent color you see with stained glass. (Thats why you only want a SMALL amount of paint, so the mixture doesn't become opaque.) Then, paint your plexiglass flower and allow it to dry completely. Step 2 Paint your wooden circle white and allow to dry. Step 3 Spray your painted plexiglass flower with Aleenes Acrylic Matte Sealer to give it a smooth matte finish, and to help keep the paint from wearing. Don't over spray, a little goes a long way! Step 4 After the sealant dries, glue your white circle onto your flower and let everything completely dry. Step 5 Now it's time to add your keychain hardware! Step 6 Wasn't it so easy to create your own faux stained glass? You can try this same technique on other items too! Enjoy taking this cute little keychain everywhere you go! Now that you know how to make these stained glass crafts, have fun coming up with your own projects. P.S. Don't forget to share with us tag us on social @aleenesdiy!

Shamrock Tie-Dye T-shirt

St. Patrick’s Day Activity: Shamrock Tie Dye

Today is your lucky day! This St. Patrick’s Day activity is fun for the whole family, and doesn’t require any work hunting for little guys in green. Craft Box Girls will show you how to make a shamrock tie-dye shirt using One-Step Dye and a resist technique with nontoxic glue. It’s easy enough for all ages, and everyone will have their own lucky T-shirt when the tie-dye fun is done! What you need: - Tulip One-Step Tie-Dye Kit in Green (1 kit per T-shirt) - White 100% cotton T-shirt (for each person) - Disposable plastic surface cover - Aleene’s Original Tacky Glue - Scissors - Sealable plastic bag - Pattern printed from this post Before getting started on your St. Patrick’s Day activity, print out the shamrock pattern from this post and cut it out. (Or you can make your own!) Wash and dry your T-shirt without fabric softener, and protect your work surface with a disposable plastic table cover. Lay the dry T-shirt flat on your work surface and place the shamrock pattern in the center of the shirt. Squeeze a thick line of Tacky Glue around the pattern, directly onto the shirt, then use your finger to help spread the glue and press it into the fabric. You’ll want about a 1-inch thick line of glue around your shamrock. Peel away the pattern and let the glue dry completely before moving on to the next step. (Once dry, the glue will resist absorbing the dye when applied to the fabric.) Now onto the tie-dye portion of this fun St. Patrick’s Day activity! Once the glue is dry, dampen the shirt, but do not oversaturate, as too much water will make the glue tack up again. Lay the damp shirt out flat on your work surface then pinch the fabric in the center and twist the entire shirt into a spiral shape. Once the glue is dry, dampen the shirt, but do not oversaturate, as too much water will make the glue tack up again. Lay the damp shirt out flat on your work surface then pinch the fabric in the center and twist the entire shirt into a spiral shape. Mix your tie dye according to instructions, then apply green dye onto the entire shirt, rotating as you apply the dye in order to get all sides. Place the dyed T-shirt in a sealable plastic bag and let set for the time recommended in the instructions. After the dye sets, remove the rubber bands and rinse thoroughly under running water. Craft Box Girls recommends using your hands to help work the glue out of the fabric as you rinse. Then wash your new shamrock tie-dye T-shirt according to instructions! Lovebug Photo Display Board with Turbo Tacky Glue

Lovebug Photo Display Board with Turbo Tacky Glue

What’s cuter than photos of your fam? How about photos of your fam displayed by adorable little lovebugs! LuluMake will show you how to DIY a photo display board using clothespins, paints and Aleene’s Turbo Tacky Glue. No tools needed for this sweet way to put your favorite memories on display; makes a great gift for grandparents and other loved ones too! What you need: - Aleene’s Turbo Tacky Glue- Wood pallet - Clothespins - Wood discs – 1.5 inches and 1 inch- Small wood beads- Felt or foam shapes for embellishing love bugs- Chenille stems- Acrylic paints in desired colors- Paintbrush and paint palette- ScissorsStep 1 For your photo display, get creative designing your lovebugs any way you like! They can be any color and any type of bug you want, or even little people or animals instead of bugs. Step 2 To get started, paint one side of each clothespin with acrylic paint in your chosen colors. Paint the corresponding head for each lovebug clothespin on the 1.5-inch wood discs. Paint the smaller wood discs in a matching color for the bugs thorax (body). You can do a solid color or create fun designs on the thorax its completely up to you! Step 3 Cut a small strand of chenille stem about 2 inches long and thread a small wood bead on each end. Curve the stem upward into a U shape, then apply Turbo Tacky Glue onto the stem. Press in place on the backside of the lovebugs head with the beads pointed upward to be the bugs antennae. If youre creating other critters like animals or people, you can create other features like hair or ears! Step 4 Glue the head pieces in place at the top of each clothespin, then glue the thorax/body onto the clothespin beneath the head. Step 5 You can also embellish your little lovebugs with foam shapes. Just glue them on where ever you like! If you are creating bugs with wings, wait to glue on the wings; youll be gluing them onto the display board instead of the backs of the bugs. Step 6 When you are ready to glue your lovebugs onto the display board, measure and mark where the center of the board is. This is where you will glue your first lovebug. If it has wings, first glue one wing in place on the board. Next glue your bug in place aligned with the wing, the glue the other wing on the other side. Step 7 Repeat gluing your lovebugs in a row across the base. Once youve gotten everything glued in place, let dry completely. Glue ribbon, twine or desired hanger on the back side of the base as well (if it doesnt have a hanger already). Step 8 Attach photos of your own little lovebugs and enjoy! This photo display is almost too cute to handle, dont you think?! What else are you crafting up with Aleenes Turbo Tacky Glue? Make sure to tag us on social @aleenesdiy and share with us!

How to Glue Patches on Stretchy Loungewear with Fabric Glue

How to Glue Patches on Stretchy Loungewear with Fabric Glue

Most of us are living in loungewear these days, and we can’t say we’re mad about it. Who doesn’t love being comfortable?! But that doesn’t mean we don’t want our loose, stretchy clothes to also be cute. One quick and easy way to give our comfy clothing fun new flair is with patches; and before you tell us you don’t know how to sew patches on clothing, we’ll tell you that you don’t have to know! Crafterward will show you how to glue patches on loose, stretchy clothing with Aleene’s Flexible Stretchable Fabric Glue. What you need: - Aleene’s Flexible Stretchable Fabric Glue - Loungewear - Patches Step 1 To take your loungewear from simple to simply amazing, you only need your favorite patches and a bottle of Flexible Stretchable Permanent Fabric Glue. This glue was designed specifically for stretchy clothing like dancewear, loungewear, knits and more. So you never have to worry about it drying stiff and making your wearables uncomfortable or awkward! Step 2 Before getting started, make sure youve washed and dried your loungewear without fabric softener (especially if its brand new). New clothing has a chemical called sizing on it that can prevent proper adherence of the glue (and fabric softener can do the same thing). Step 3 Lay out the patches on your loungewear to decide where you'd most like them to be. Apply Flexible Stretchable to the back of each patch and press in place on the garment. Let dry completely for about 24 hours. Tip: If you're working with a fitted garment that is stretchy, it helps to place cardboard or something inside the garment to help stretch out the fabric while you glue on the embellishments, so the glue penetrates the fibers properly. Step 4 Once dry, you can put on your loungewear and take it easy in style! Now that you know how to glue patches onto loungewear, what else will you do with Aleenes Flexible Stretchable Fabric Glue? We'd love to see what you're making, so tag us on social @aleenesdiy and share with us!

Polka Dots Clothing DIY

Polka Dot Clothing DIY with Fabric Paint

Looking for creative ways to make your old outfits new again? Or maybe add some extra color to a simple set of clothes? This clothing DIY from Norx in the Know uses Tulip Fabric Paints in glittery colors to dress up a loungewear set with sparkling polka dots. Pick out your favorite paints and let’s get started! What you need: - Tulip Fabric Paints in desired colors - Loungewear set or other clothing - Round object for making dots (like the eraser end of a pencil or handle of a paint pouncer) - Paper plate or paint palette - Paper towels Before getting started on this clothing DIY, make sure your wearables have been washed and dried without fabric softener, especially if they are brand new. (New fabrics are usually coated in a chemical called “sizing” that can prevent the paint from properly bonding with the fabric fibers. Fabric softener does the same thing.) Shake each paint color and squeeze some of each onto a paper plate or paint palette. Dip your round object (such as the eraser end of a pencil or a brush handle) into the first paint color, then press onto your clothing. Continue this process with the first color, creating dots randomly on your clothing. Clean off your brush handle (or tool you are using) and dip into your next paint color. Repeat the process of dipping into paint and pressing onto the fabric until you are happy with the way your polka dots look on this clothing DIY! Depending on the paint color or finish you are working with, you might want to dab on a second coat after the first coat dries. When you are finished, let your clothing dry flat until the paint is completely dry. Now it’s time to shine in your sparkling polka dot clothing DIY! Wasn’t it so easy to add a little something extra to your outfit? What other clothing DIYs are you creating with Tulip Fabric Paints? Make sure to tag us on social and share with us!

DIY Snowman Face Mask

Make a Snowman Face Mask with Fabric Markers

Stay safe this winter with a fun face mask that even Frosty the Snowman would enjoy! The Color Venturer will show you how to easily decorate a simple white face mask in winter wonder style with nontoxic Tulip Fabric Markers. Just a little bit of creativity will go a long way in spreading cheer in a safe way while you’re out and about this winter! What you need: - Tulip Fabric Markers (any pack with orange and black) - White Cotton Face Mask - Pencil This quick and easy snowman face mask project only requires a few supplies, and can be ready to wear the same day! First make sure your mask has been washed and dried (without fabric softener). For this project, you’ll only need the orange and black Fabric Markers from your pack (unless you want to get extra colorful with yours!). Use a pencil to lightly sketch out a carrot nose on your mask. The Color Venturer recommends putting on the mask and marking where your nose is to help with the placement of the carrot nose design. Do the same for your mouth. If you mess up, don’t worry, you can erase the pencil markings and adjust your design to your liking. Once you’re happy with your carrot nose design, color it in with the orange Fabric Marker. Once you’re happy with your mouth design, color in the circles with the black Fabric Marker. When complete, let everything fully dry. This custom face mask is “snow” cute, isn’t it? This would make a great crafting activity for the whole family, or you could even make some snowman face masks as gifts this year for everyone on your list! DIY Changeable Household Chores List with Removable Adhesive

Whose turn is it to do dishes and who’s supposed to fold laundry? Make it easy to keep your family chores organized with a household chores list you can update each week! Handmade Charlotte shows you how to use the Tack-It Method to create a glittery chore chart on plexiglass that doubles as a sparkling creative display. And by making your own changeable chore cards with Aleene’s Tack-It Over & Over, it’ll be a cinch to swap them out for different family members on different days! What you need: - Aleene’s Tack-It Over & Over - Plexiglass sheet in desired size - Large soft-bristled paintbrush - Holographic glitter in desired color - Vinyl alphabet stickers - Ruler - Masking tape/washi tape - Colored paper or cardstock - Laminating pouches - Scissors - Plastic tablecloth - Plastic cup or bowl - Stir stickStep 1 Before getting started on your DIY household chores list, protect your work surface with a plastic tablecloth for easy cleanup. In a plastic dish, mix 1 tablespoon of Tack-It Over & Over with 1 tablespoon of water and use a stir stick to thoroughly mix. Step 2 Place your plexiglass panel on your work surface and make sure its clean and free from dust and prints. Use a large soft-bristled brush to brush the Tack-It/water mixture over the entire panel. Need more? Mix up the extra amount that you need using a 1:1 ratio. Let it dry completely; it should feel tacky to the touch when dry. Step 3 Once the plexiglass is dry and has a nice tacky texture, sprinkle glitter over the tacky surface of your soon-to-be sparkling household chores list. Step 4 Use your hand to press and smooth the glitter onto the tacky surface of the plexiglass. You can save any remaining glitter for future use! Step 5 Once youve smoothed glitter over the tacky side, flip the plexiglass panel over so the slick surface is now on top. Its time to turn your glittered plexiglass into a proper household chores list! Step 6 Use a ruler and tape to help divide the panel into even sections one section per name. Apply your vinyl stickers onto the panel, spelling out each persons name. Step 7 To make the chore cards for your household chores list, print each chore onto colored paper and laminate. You can use non-heated laminating pouches or a heated laminator if you have one. Cut out each chore so it becomes its own card. Step 8: To tack the chore cards onto your household chores list, you can either make your own glue dots with Tack-It Over & Over and use them to tack up and change around the cards, or you can apply and smooth Tack-It Over & Over directly onto the backs of the laminated cards. Once dry, you can tack them up on the plexiglass panel and move them around each week! Step 9 And now you have a sparkly household chores list that shines with organization and responsibility or at least some color and creativity. The rest is up to your crew! Step 3: Fold the bottom of the triangle over again towards the opposite corner, keeping a sharp point on one end. (This will be the top of your tree.) Fold over once more. Step 4: Unfold your paper so its back into a square shape with defined folds. Step 8: Repeat creating cutouts along the opposite side, cutting smaller sections in between the existing cutouts. Cut all the way to the tip of the paper Christmas tree. Step 9: Unfold your paper Christmas tree and apply Tacky Glue along one of the sides, then press the opposite side into the glue to form a dimensional tree. Let dry completely. Things for Kids to Do Indoors this Winter

7 Things for Kids to Do Indoors this Winter

Winter is on the way (or already here depending on when you’re reading this), which means cold weather and more time hibernating inside. And if you’re looking for things for kids to do while stuck indoors, you’re definitely not alone! Since it’s the holiday season, we’ve put together a roundup of colorful themed crafts for kids to help them stay creative and inspired while on winter break. All of these ideas only require a few supplies, so they’re budget friendly but big on fun! What you need: - Tulip Dimensional Fabric Paints - Tulip One-Step Tie Dye - Tulip Fabric Markers It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Window clings are a fun thing for kids to do to show their holiday spirit, whether they tack them up on the fridge or a window facing outside for neighbors to enjoy as they pass by. You only need nontoxic Tulip Dimensional Paints and a clear sheet protector as a nonstick surface to make them. The kids can draw their favorite holiday designs or print designs from online to trace with paint and turn into clings. Such an easy craft with lots of Christmas spirit! Another thing for kids to do – since you already have Dimensional Paints for clings – is to make custom ornaments for your family’s tree! It’s a great way to add an extra personal touch to your décor, and kids will love seeing their colorful ornaments on display. The design options are as limited as their imaginations, so hand them some paint and see what they come up with! The ornaments will make keepsakes for years to come, and are also a great gift idea for their grandparents and other family members and friends. We all get thirsty, so another thing for kids to do is decorate cups or tumblers with names or funny quotes from their favorite Christmas movies. It’s the perfect way for your family to sip on favorite holiday beverages and enjoy some merry & bright cheer! Let their creativity shine with glitter or metallic Dimensional Paints paired with tumblers in holly jolly colors. This craft also makes a fun gift idea; kids can decorate the tumblers and they can be stuffed with tea, hot cocoa or treats for friends and family. Looking for another thing for kids to do? Put some Tulip Fabric Markers in their hand and let them decorate their pillowcases! They’ll get to be the star of their own Christmas show every night when they head to bed for time in a winter wonder dreamland. They can freehand their designs, or place a pattern between the pillowcase and trace over the design, then color in. Tulip Fabric Markers are nontoxic and stay vibrant through machine washings, so your little one’s creativity will stay as bright as Rudolph’s nose this season. Let it snow! This is one thing for kids to do that’s also a fantastic sensory item once the crafting part is done. Plus, who doesn’t love snow globes?! Upcycle baby food jars into glittery holiday goodness with Frosty the Snowman flair. But they don’t have to stick to a snowman snow globe. They can make Santa or his elves, reindeer and more. Customize the jars with Dimensional Paints, construction paper, cardstock or felt; it’s the perfect way to shake things up this winter! Another thing for kids to do is create something they can wear. Making colorful, stackable bracelets is super easy with Dimensional Paints and ribbon. Much like the clings we talked about above, print out holiday-themed patterns, place the ribbons on top, then trace over them with Dimensional Paint. Once they’re dry, these bracelets will be ready to rock (around the Christmas tree)! Decorating shoes is one thing for kids to do that’ll put some pep in their step! They can easily bring an old pair of their shoes back to life with Tulip Dimensional Paints or Fabric Markers. If they’re feeling the holiday spirit, they can decorate their shoes with bright Christmas designs, or make their designs less seasonal if they want to wear their shoes year round. Let them have fun with it for a completely original pair of shoes no one else will be walking around in.

Custom Vote T-shirt with Glitter Markers

Make Your Own Vote T-shirt with Fabric Paint Markers

Rock the vote this year in your very own style! Let your patriotic spirit shine with a custom-made T-shirt created with Tulip Glitter Fabric Paint Markers. Artist Steffi Lynn will show you just how easy it is to design and make your own vote T-shirt in just a few steps. What you need: - Tulip Glitter Fabric Paint Markers - T-shirt of choice - Pencil and paper - Ruler - Masking tape - Chalk pencil (optional) Tulip Fabric Paint Markers work on both light and dark fabrics, so feel free to choose whatever color shirt you want to rock the vote in. Make sure it’s prewashed and dried (without fabric softener) before starting your project. First sketch out your design on a piece of paper. You can use this “Vote for our Future” design or come up with your own quote art. Get creative with it in your favorite style! There are a few ways you can transfer your design onto your T-shirt. You can simply use your sketch as a reference and freehand your design straight onto the fabric, or you can use a chalk pencil first, that way you can wipe away any mishaps before you get started. If your shirt is a light color, you can place your sketch under the first layer and trace over it with your markers. Go with what you feel most comfortable with. If you want your design to be at a diagonal like Steffi Lynn’s, you can use masking tape and a ruler to lay down lines of tape on your shirt to help guide your design between each line of text. Prep your Glitter Fabric Paint Markers according to instructions, then trace over/draw your design onto your shirt with your chosen colors. Once your design completely dries, it’s time to put on your shirt and go out and vote! And don’t forget to tag us on social @tulipcolorcrafts and show us what you’re making with Tulip Fabric Paint Markers!

How to Paint Clothing the Easy Way

How to Paint Clothing the Easy Way

Is everyone else feeling those fall vibes as much as we are? We are so ready for cooler weather, cozy clothing, and you know it – pumpkin spice everything! Send summer off with fabulous fall fashion you can make on a budget (Christmas is just around the corner, after all). Norx in the Know will show you how to paint clothing in the easiest way using Tulip ColorShot Instant Fabric Color and freezer paper. You can use this technique for shirts, jeans, jackets and more this fall! What you need: - Tulip ColorShot Instant Fabric Color - T-shirt or other clothing - Freezer paper - Craft knife - Iron Our first tip on how to paint clothing is a pretty important one: make sure your clothing has been washed without fabric softener, especially if it’s brand new. New fabrics are coated in a chemical called “sizing” to help avoid wrinkles and stains, and it can prevent the paint from properly bonding with the fabric. Same with fabric softener. You’ll also want to use a paint made specially for fabric, like Tulip ColorShot Fabric Spray Paints, or any other Tulip Fabric Paints. They’re all flexible drying and can be machine washed! If you’re wondering how to paint clothing with your very own designs, we promise it’s easy! If you don’t have a cutting machine, you can still make it happen with freezer paper. Draw or trace your design onto the non-shiny side of the freezer paper, then cut it out with a craft knife to create a stencil. Iron the stencil shiny side down onto your clothing; the wax will melt and create a temporary hold on the fabric. If you’re using only one color, you can get straight to spray painting. If you’re using multiple colors like Norx in the Know, tape over the stencil openings that will be different colors than the color you are applying, and repeat the process with each color. Remember to spray light, even coats of ColorShot instead of one heavy coat. You can also use Tulip Brush-On Paints or even Fabric Markers if you don’t want to use fabric spray paint. Once you’re happy with your coverage, peel off the freezer paper stencil and let your design dry completely. Once it’s dry, it’s ready to wear! Now that you know how to paint clothing in the easiest way with Tulip Color Products, you’ll be able to be creative, make cool stuff and stick to your budget. What will you be DIYing – and wearing – this fall? Tag us on social @tulipcolorcrafts and let us know! Happy fall y’all!

Cover your work surface with a disposable plastic surface cover, and wash all items you plan on tie dyeing for your easy hippie costumes. Leave them damp, or make sure to thoroughly dampen before adding the dyes. Choose tie-dye technique and mix dyes For your easy hippie costumes, you can choose any tie-dye technique you like. Craft Box Girls opted for the bullseye tie-dye technique, the spiral tie-dye technique, and the stripes tie-dye technique. Prep your dyes (no more than 24 hours before using) by adding water according to instructions. Twist T-shirt into a spiral For the spiral tie-dye T-shirt, lay the damp T-shirt out flat on your work surface. Pinch the fabric in the center of the shirt and twist until the entire shirt is swirled. Add dyes and process in microwave Secure the shirt by crisscrossing rubber bands around it, then squeeze your chosen dye colors onto the shirt however you like. Repeat on the back side, then place into the Two-Minute Tie-Dye Container and process according to instructions. NOTE: Make sure the T-shirt is completely damp before processing in the microwave. If any portion has dried out, even a little bit, re-dampen by spritzing with water. Wrap rubber bands around the top every few inches For the stripes tie-dye top, Craft Box Girls wrapped rubber bands around the top every few inches, including the sleeves. Apply dyes to top and process in microwave Apply dyes to the top, alternating colors in between the banded sections. Make sure to rotate the top as you apply the dyes so you get all sides. Once you’ve added the dyes, place in the container and process according to instructions. Pull fabric into a tube shape For the bullseye tie-dye T-shirt, pinch the damp shirt in the center of where you want your bullseye design to be, then pull the entire shirt into a tube shape. Apply dyes and process in microwave Wrap rubber bands around the shirt every few inches, then apply your chosen dye colors. Alternate colors between the banded sections, rotating the shirt as you apply the dyes so you get all sides. Once you’ve added all of your dyes, place into the container and process in the microwave according to instructions. Cut jeans at side seam To give your easy hippie costumes some extra fun flair, turn an old pair of jeans into bell bottoms. It’s so simple! Lay out your jeans on your work surface and cut a slit up the seam on both legs. Freshly Fuji used a protractor and pencil to create a perfectly rounded circle on white foam board, then cut it out with a box cutter. Sand the edges for a smooth finish. Create 8 wedge shapes on circle Use your yard stick and pencil to divide the circle into 8 even wedge sections. Freshly Fuji started by drawing a line down the center of the circle, then using a protractor to make markings at 45°, 90°, and 135° in the center on each side of the main line. Use these marks as a guide to create three straight lines, which will intersect and create your wedge shapes. Cover other wedges and spray paint Cover all wedges on your circle with kraft paper except one. Tape the edges down in place. This will help protect from overspray while painting each wedge a different color. Prep your first COLORSHOT spray paint color according to instructions, then apply several light coats to your wedge, letting dry between coats. When you are happy with the coverage, let dry. Repeat covering and spray painting wedges Remove paper from the next wedge, then cover the wedge you just painted to protect it from overspray. Or you can work in an every-other pattern if you are looking to get your wheel done a little sooner, because it gives the painted wedges more time to dry before covering. Let color wheel dry completely However you decide to apply your spray paints, make sure you work in color order, just like a color wheel! Allow the paint to dry completely before moving on to the next step. Glue ribbon to back side of color wheel Once your painted wedges have dried, flip over your color wheel. Measure and cut a strand of ribbon long enough to fit around your neck. Mark the placement for each end of the ribbon on the back of your color wheel, then hot glue one end of the ribbon onto one of the markings. On the other marking, glue one of the hook & loop tape strips onto the marking, and the other onto the ribbon. Let dry and they will be ready to attach together. Color Wheel DIY Couples Halloween Costume Now the color wheel part of your DIY couples Halloween costume is complete! Create 3 equal sections on foam board For the paint chip portion of your DIY couples Halloween costume, first divide the foam board into 3 equal sections using a pencil and yard stick. Cover the bottom two sections with kraft paper and tape along the line of the first section for a clean edge. Spray first spray paint color on top section Spray several light coats of your lightest COLORSHOT spray paint color onto the first (top) section of your paint chip board, letting dry between coats. Once you are happy with the coverage, let dry and remove the tape and paper. Repeat painting each section with the next darker hue Cover over and tape off the top and bottom sections, then spray paint your medium hue onto the middle section. Let dry and repeat for the remaining section with your darkest hue. Create paint names with Chalk Marker Sketch the name of each spray paint color onto the corresponding color in the bottom left corner of the board, then trace over each name with the Marshmallow Chalk Marker. Let dry. Glue ribbon to back of paint chip costume Attach a strand of ribbon for the neck loop to the back of the paint chip costume in the same way as the color wheel. Paint Chip DIY Couples Halloween Costume Your DIY couples Halloween costume has its other half! PS. Does anyone else feel like repainting every room in their house now, or is that just us? DIY Pet Halloween Costumes To get your furry family members in on the fun, here are a few additional pet Halloween costume ideas to go with your DIY couples Halloween costume! Use compass to create circles on foam board For the paint palette costume, use a compass to help draw an inner and outer circle sized to fit around your dog’s neck. Cut out circle and sketch pawprints Cut out the circle and sketch pawprints around it. Paint pawprints with acrylic paints Paint each pawprint design with a different rainbow color using your COLORSHOT Acrylic Paints. Let dry completely. Paint Palette Dog Costume Isn’t this the cutest paint palette you’ve ever seen?! Or as Freshly Fuji calls it, a “Paint Pawlette”! Cut foam board to fit dog and create chalkboard effect For the doodle dog costume, trim the black foam board to fit your dog, then cut a circle out to fit around its head. Sand all of the edges for a smooth finish, then use a piece of chalk to create a chalkboard effect by rubbing the side of it all across the board. Use a rag to wipe some of it away. Sketch dog body onto board Use a pencil to sketch a dog doodle onto the board, then trace over it with Chalk Markers. Let dry completely. Easy Hippie Costumes

Easy Hippie Costumes for the Whole Fam

If you’re hoping to make your Halloween a little less ghoulish and a lot more groovy, these easy hippie costumes should do the trick! Craft Box Girls will show you how to use Tulip Two-Minute Tie Dye to make colorful tie-dye costumes with far-out flair. What you need: - Tulip Two-Minute Tie-Dye Kit + additional One-Step Dyes if desired - White 100% cotton T-shirts, flowy tops to tie dye - Jeans - Lace or colorful fabric - Colorful pompom trims to match tie dye - Scissors - Disposable plastic surface cover - Aleene’s® Fabric Fusion® - Sunglasses, necklaces and other hippie accessories Tulip Two-Minute Tie Dye helps speed up the dye set process, which is great if you’re short on time or are making last-minute Halloween costumes! Cover your work surface with a disposable plastic surface cover, and wash all items you plan on tie dyeing for your easy hippie costumes. Leave them damp, or make sure to thoroughly dampen before adding the dyes. For your easy hippie costumes, you can choose any tie-dye technique you like. Craft Box Girls opted for the bullseye tie-dye technique, the spiral tie-dye technique, and the stripes tie-dye technique. Prep your dyes (no more than 24 hours before using) by adding water according to instructions. For the spiral tie-dye T-shirt, lay the damp T-shirt out flat on your work surface. Pinch the fabric in the center of the shirt and twist until the entire shirt is swirled. Secure the shirt by crisscrossing rubber bands around it, then squeeze your chosen dye colors onto the shirt however you like. Repeat on the back side, then place into the Two-Minute Tie-Dye Container and process according to instructions. NOTE: Make sure the T-shirt is completely damp before processing in the microwave. If any portion has dried out, even a little bit, re-dampen by spritzing with water. For the stripes tie-dye top, Craft Box Girls wrapped rubber bands around the top every few inches, including the sleeves. Apply dyes to the top, alternating colors in between the banded sections. Make sure to rotate the top as you apply the dyes so you get all sides. Once you’ve added the dyes, place in the container and process according to instructions. For the bullseye tie-dye T-shirt, pinch the damp shirt in the center of where you want your bullseye design to be, then pull the entire shirt into a tube shape. Wrap rubber bands around the shirt every few inches, then apply your chosen dye colors. Alternate colors between the banded sections, rotating the shirt as you apply the dyes so you get all sides. Once you’ve added all of your dyes, place into the container and process in the microwave according to instructions. To give your easy hippie costumes some extra fun flair, turn an old pair of jeans into bell bottoms. It’s so simple! Lay out your jeans on your work surface and cut a slit up the seam on both legs. Cut a swatch of fabric to fit in between the cut seams – this will help expand and widen the bottoms of your jean legs. Align your fabric inside of each leg, then add a line of Aleene’s® Fabric Fusion along each edge of the open seam. Press into place on the fabric swatch and let dry completely. Add some color to your new bell bottoms by gluing bright pompom trim along the bottom hems. Let dry. Now it’s time to coordinate accessories to go with your easy hippie costumes! You can cut leather string to make headbands, turn tassels into necklaces and add some 60s-style sunglasses! Celebrate Halloween with peace, love and tie dye! These easy hippie costumes will make a total statement no matter how you’re celebrating Halloween this year! Will you be wearing tie dye this Halloween? If so, tag us on social @tulipcolorcrafts and show us what you made!

DIY Monogram Doormat with Tulip ColorShot

DIY Monogram Doormat

Welcome friends and family home with a doormat that makes a statement in just your style! This DIY monogram doormat from Mikyla Creates is totally easy to make with Tulip ColorShot Instant Fabric Color and monogram stencils. Learn how easy it is to make your own perfectly personalized doormat in the following tutorial! What you need: - Tulip ColorShot Instant Fabric Color – color of choice - Monogram stencils - Plain doormat - Painter’s tape - Measuring tape - Marker - String - Plastic garbage bags or heavy paper Before getting started, make sure you’re working in a well-ventilated area. Brush off your doormat to remove any loose fibers or dust. Place your chosen monogram letter stencil in the center of your doormat and tape in place. If you want an exact center placement, you can measure just to be sure! To create the rainbow designs on the sides of your doormat, first measure the sides of your mat and use your marker to make a mark at the exact center. Cut a piece of string long enough to extend from the side edge of the mat to the top of where you’d like your first arc to be. (About a few inches away from your monogram stencil.) Tie the string to your marker, and holding the other end at the center-marked point on the side, pull the marker/string taught and create a half circle with your marker, keeping the string pulled tight the entire time. This will help you create the perfect half circle! Tape along the edge of the arc, tearing the pieces of tape into smaller strips to help keep the arc shape if needed. Repeat the above steps to create and tape off two additional concentric arcs, each about 2 inches below the one above it. Repeat creating the rainbow design on the opposite side of the mat. Cover any exposed areas you do not want painted with plastic trash bags or heavy paper. Prep your ColorShot Spray Paint according to instructions, then spray several light coats over your designs, letting dry in between coats. Once you are happy with your color coverage, peel off the tape, stencil and protective layers. Let dry completely before using. This DIY monogram doormat is ready to welcome guests in style! Once you finish this quick costume, you’ll have enough time left to turn the rest of your fam into other characters from the cast! What you need: - Aleene’s Fabric Fusion - Blue sleeveless unitard - Striped legwarmers - Pink sash - Flat-backed crystals - Tweezers - Sewing pinsStep 1 If you don’t know how to sew or don’t have time, don’t stress! What makes this such an easy DIY project is the Fabric Fusion. This glue dries permanent, washable and flexible, which is super important for this super stretchy, easy costume for women that requires extra movement because of the unitard fabric. Step 2 First decide where on the unitard legs youd like the legwarmers to be, then measure so you make sure to get them nice and even. Glue each in place onto the unitard, using sewing pins to help hold in place while they dry. Gluing the legwarmers to the unitard will help hold them up so you don't have to worry about them sagging or falling while you're in costume! Step 3 Next glue the sash in place around the waist. You can cut off the ends for a clean finish, or leave the ends loose on the back and tie into a bow if you prefer it that way while wearing. Step 4 To finish this easy costume for women, Annie added a custom touch by gluing crystals in the shape of a heart onto the top portion of the unitard. You can do the same or get creative with your own costume! Once you've glued on all of the accents, let the costume dry completely before wearing. Step 5 Look at how cute it turned out! Its Fabric Fusion to the rescue this Halloween for easy costumes for women, men, kids, pets and so much more. How will you customize your costume with Aleenes Fabric Fusion this year? How to Make a Halloween Wreath the Easy Way

How to Make a Halloween Wreath the Easy Way

Celebrate Halloween this year with spooktacular décor that’ll have your family screaming with delight! Craft Box Girls show you how to make a Halloween wreath the easy way with colorful fabrics, embroidery hoops and Tulip Dimensional Fabric Paints. Get ready to have the most boo-tiful decorations on the block! What you need: - Tulip Dimensional Fabric Paints in desired colors - Embroidery hoops - Aleene’s Fabric Fusion - Different fabrics and trims in Halloween colors - Pencil or chalk - Scissors - Chenille stems - Patterns (download from this post) Craft Box Girls will give you three different ideas on how to make a Halloween wreath using fabrics, embroidery hoops and Dimensional Paints. For this first quote art wreath, measure and cut the fabric so it’s slightly larger than the embroidery hoop. Glue trim onto the fabric. Craft Box Girls chose striped fabric for this wreath, and glued the trim along the striped lines. Secure the fabric between the top and bottom rings of the embroidery hoop, pulling the fabric taught as you secure it. Trim excess fabric from around the edges. Glue any fabric still remaining to the underside of the hoop. To transfer the “Double Double Toil and Trouble” pattern onto the fabric, first flip it over and use a pencil to color over the back side of the pattern. Once you’ve covered the back side of the pattern, flip it back over and center it on your fabric. Use your pencil to trace over the letters, applying enough pressure to lightly transfer the wording onto the fabric. Trace over the quote art on the fabric with your desired color of Tulip Dimensional Paint. Add any additional accent designs if desired, then let dry completely. For the BOO wreath, repeat the process of cutting your main fabric slightly larger than the embroidery hoop. Cut two pieces of ribbon that extend past the width of the embroidery hoop. Glue across the center of your fabric, then secure between the top and bottom hoops, making sure the fabric is taught. Cut off excess fabric. Print out the BOO pattern and flip it over so the back side is up. Use a pencil or chalk to color over the back side. Flip the BOO pattern back over and center it over the ribbon. Trace over the lettering, pressing firm enough to transfer the wording onto the ribbon. Use your chosen colors of Dimensional Paint to trace over BOO and the fabric designs as desired. Let dry completely. For the jack-o-lantern wreath, cut and secure your main fabric as noted in the steps above. Then glue trim around the circumference and let dry. Cut desired jack-o-lantern face shape from black felt or fabric, and glue in place centered on the wreath. Trace around facial features with Dimensional Paint and add eye accents as desired. Cut out a stem from felt, and coil chenille stems around your pencil to create curled vines. Glue everything in place at the top of the wreath, then let dry completely. Now that you know how to make a Halloween wreath in the easiest way, will you make just one? All three? Have fun getting festive for Halloween, and don’t forget to tag us on social @tulipcolorcrafts and let us know how you’re crafting with Tulip for Halloween.

How to Use Soda Ash for Tie Dye

How to Use Soda Ash for Tie Dye

Published Date: September 21, 2020 If you’ve heard of tie dye, you’ve probably heard of soda ash too. If not, then we’re sure you’re now thinking, what is soda ash? And what does it have to do with tie dye? Soda ash is also known as sodium carbonate, but the most important thing you need to know about it is that soda ash can help prepare the fibers of your fabric to better absorb dyes and therefore produce brighter results. It’s often used as a presoak treatment before tie dyeing, but it’s not necessary when using Tulip One-Step Dyes because they already have soda ash mixed into the dyes. However, you can absolutely still use it! In this tutorial, Mikyla Creates shows you how to use soda ash for tie dye. Supplies needed - Tulip Soda Ash - Tulip One-Step Tie-Dye Kit of choice - White 100% cotton hoodie or item to tie dye - Bowl - Measuring cups - Stir spoon - Disposable plastic surface cover - Sealable plastic bag Instructions Add warm water to mixing bowl Prepare 8 cups of warm water and add to a mixing bowl. Make sure the bowl is large enough to fit the item you are going to tie dye. Add soda ash and stir Add half of a 2-lb. bag of soda ash to the warm water and stir until thoroughly mixed. Submerge fabric in soda ash Completely submerge your hoodie (or item you are tie dyeing) in the soda ash solution and allow it to soak for 30 minutes to an hour. Fold and bind fabric After your fabric is done soaking, remove it from the solution and wring it out, but do not rinse it. Place it on your covered work surface and fold and bind it using whatever tie-dye technique you like! Apply dyes and let set Mix your One-Step Dyes according to instructions, then apply to your soda ash pretreated fabric as normal. Once you have applied your dyes, cover your project with plastic or seal in a sealable plastic bag and let set for 6 to 8 hours or longer. Then rinse and launder according to instructions. Customize Your Stock Tank Pool with COLORSHOT

Swim season isn’t over YET, and we’re planning on staying in the pool til the leaves fall from the trees. Stock tank pools are all the rage right now, and we can see why. They’re still big enough to swim in, but not nearly as expensive as putting in and maintaining an actual swimming pool. And we’re of the opinion that if you’re going to get a stock tank pool, you might as well have one in the colors you love. That’s why Lolly Jane is going to show you how to paint your stock tank pool the right way in this easy tutorial. Give the rest of summer a splash of fabulous color with COLORSHOT Premium Spray Paint! What you need: COLORSHOT Premium Spray Paint (desired color) - 10 cans - Galvanized stock tank pool - Paint thinner - Fine-grit sandpaper - White vinegar - RagPrep stock tank pool for painting Before painting your stock tank pool, it helps to prop it up on tables if you can, for easier access when painting. Lolly Jane also recommends removing the protective oil coating on the outer layer by using paint thinner and a rag. After doing this, use fine-grit sandpaper to rough up the surface of the pool so the paint has an easier time gripping it. Wipe off the dust with a clean rag, then apply a coat of white vinegar and let set an hour or so before wiping off. This will help break up any remnants of the shiny protective coat. Spray paint outside of pool with light coats Since COLORSHOT Spray Paints already have primer in them, you can skip the priming step and get right to painting! Apply several light coats of your favorite spray paint color, letting dry in between coats. Tip from Lolly Jane: Don’t worry about painting the inside of the pool. The paint will likely flake and peel off over time with water being inside of it. Fill stock tank pool and enjoy Once your paint has completely cured, it’s time to fill it and enjoy! Isn’t it so much better when you have a pool that matches your personality? Of course it is! Customize your stock tank pool with COLORSHOT How will your customize your stock tank pool with COLORSHOT?
