DIY Easter Décor: Colorful No-Sew Felt Carrots with Aleene’s Fabric Fusion Tape
Easter is just around the corner! This super cute and simple tutorial from Oh Yay Studios will teach you how to add color to your Easter décor with the help of Aleene’s Fabric Fusion Permanent Fabric Tape. If you’re a fan of DIY Easter décor, this project is perfect for using up any extra felt scraps that you have laying around— even the Easter bunny won’t be able to resist these colorful felt carrots! What you need: Aleene’s Fabric Fusion Permanent Fabric Tape Felt, various colors Scissors Polyester fiber fill or cotton balls Step 1 Before you start on this DIY Easter decor project, pick your felt carrot colors and pair them with colors for the top greenery. Cut out your carrots - you will want two of each color to make one carrot. Step 2 Cut out your carrot top greenery by cutting out 2 pieces of felt that are 3 x 5. Cut small long slits along the 5 side in the greenery tops to make the flowing strands. Be sure to leave about 1 inch at the bottom of each greenery piece uncut so that you can add tape and adhere it to the carrot. Step 3 Measure and cut a piece of your Fabric Tape the lengthwise of the carrot, including the top curve. Carefully peel off one side of the paper and stick the tape along the inside of the carrot, as flush to the edge as possible. Then peel away the remainder of the paper off the Fabric Tape and fold to follow the curved edge of the carrot. Step 4 Begin pressing two carrot sides together, one with Fabric Tape and one without. Add polyester fiber fill or cotton when the carrot is about three-fourths of the way closed, then press the edges together on the long sides to close completely. Leave the top of the carrot unsealed to add greenery. Step 5 Layer your 2 carrot greenery colors on top of one another and add a piece of Fabric Tape between the layers at the bottom uncut portion. Cut and stick another piece of Fabric Tape to the bottom of the greenery, then roll together. Step 6 Cut a final piece of Fabric Tape to wrap around the outer bottom part of the greenery, then carefully insert into the top of the carrot. Press to secure. Fluff your carrots as needed, and your DIY Easter decor is ready to be displayed! How are you using Aleenes Glues for your DIY Easter decor projects? Stunning Shibori Tie-Dye Furniture Flip with Tulip
Published Date: February 09, 2022 Who doesn’t love a gorgeous Shibori tie dye? Those deep blue hues are to dye for! This tutorial from Craft Box Girls will teach you how to add some style to furniture that needs a new look with the Tulip One-Step Shibori Tie-Dye Kit! Instructions Prepare dyes according to package instructions. Before you get started, prewash (and dry, if using the dry technique) the fabric that you will be dyeing. Prepare the dyes according to package instructions. Prepare fabric into the pole wrapping technique This project uses the pole wrapping technique, but you can use whichever folding technique you’d like! For the pole wrapping technique, wrap your fabric around your pole or cardboard tube, then use string to wrap around the fabric. Scrunch the fabric down and tighten the string as you wrap. Continue until all of the fabric is wrapped with string and scrunched together. Apply the dye solution to your fabric Place your fabric onto your sheet pan and wire rack. This will be helpful for catching excess dye! Apply dyes onto your fabric and allow them to fully soak into the fabric. Wrap with plastic and allow dye to set Once you’re satisfied with your dye coverage, cover your fabric with plastic wrap to keep it damp. Allow dye to set for 6-8 hours or longer for more saturated color. Once set, remove plastic wrap and string and wash and dry according to kit instructions. Re-cover your furniture with dyed fabric Now it’s time to re-cover your furniture with your dyed fabric! It is important that you re-cover your piece of furniture in the same way that it was originally put together. For instance, the stool in this project was put together with one seam along the top outer edge, and then one seam along the backside vertically with it stapled underneath the stool. Wrap and glue fabric onto top of stool. Begin with the top portion – cut fabric in a circle around the top and then slowly begin to glue around the top edge (near the original seam) and tightly pull into place working your way around the top. Trim excess fabric as needed. Wrap fabric along the long edge of your furniture. Either iron a straight edge or stitch a straight seam to the long edge of your tie-dyed material. Then with a bead of hot glue, carefully glue this top edge of material to the stool, overlapping the top circle that is already glued into place. Once you reach the starting point, fold over both edges and glue them into place. Wrap fabric to the underside and glue Wrap your fabric to the underside of the stool and glue into place. Pull the fabric taut as you tack down and allow to dry completely. Display your furniture Now your fresh new furniture is ready! Get ready to display your stunning Shibori furniture! DIY Headboard Idea with Spray Paint
Every child wants a cool bed to sleep in. With this fun DIY headboard idea, you can turn their bedroom into a cabin getaway while freeing up some space and not spending a fortune. All you’ll need is a few thin wood pieces, COLORSHOT Premium Spray Paint and some simple tools for your kids to be sleeping with a new roof over their heads. Like, right over their heads! What you need: - COLORSHOT Premium Spray Paint(This project uses Blackout, but feel free to use your favorite shades!) - COLORSHOT Premium Acrylic Paints (optional) - Three 1”x 1” x random length unfinished wood sticks - Jigsaw or other power saw - Pencil - Measuring tape - 1 ½ in. finish nails - Hammer - LevelSketch out your house For this DIY headboard idea, you’ll need to start by sketching out your house. Begin with your base lines. Draw the sides of your house with pencil, starting at your baseboards. Customize the height and width of your project to your preference. Now find the top of your house and draw your roof. From the top of your base lines, measure half the length and make a mark. Now from that point, measure the same distance up and make another mark. This will be the top of your roof. (You can now erase your bottom mark.) Take a yardstick or one of your wooden sticks to help you draw a straight line from the top of your roof to each baseline. Your chimney’s height and width are once again your preference. Draw it out with straight lines making sure the top and sides are level. Erase the part of the roof that is going through the chimney. Measure & Cut First, measure the width of your wood. If it is not 1 in thick, make a note as we’ll be using this width for our measurements. (For the sake of instructions, we will be using 1 inch). On your left stick, measure the length of your left base line and make a line. Now measure 1 inch down and make another line. Diagonally connect these 2 lines, top left to bottom right, to create your cut line. Use your jigsaw to cut the diagonal and set aside. Now repeat these steps for the right base stick, but make your diagonal connect the top right corner to the bottom left corner. Repeat these steps for the 2 roof pieces, keeping the bottom square but measuring and cutting the diagonals for the tip of the roof. The chimney is a little tricky, but you can follow the same process and reference these images to make the correct diagonal cuts. Now you’ll want to cut the chimney part out of your right roof stick. Assemble your right stick and your roof pieces lying flat on the ground in front of you. Draw vertical lines where the INSIDE of your chimney intersects your roof stick. Cut your line marks and remove the inside of your chimney. In a well-ventilated area, use your favorite COLORSHOT Premium Spray Paint to paint each stick. Apply several light coats to cover all sides and corners until your desired coverage is reached, letting dry between coats. Assemble Your Headboard It’s finally time to assemble your DIY headboard! Iron out any wrinkles if needed to make sure the surface is flat. Spray a light coat of Tulip Colorshot Fabric Spray Paint onto the fabric. Do this by shaking the can for at least a minute, then hold the can 6 to 8 inches away from the fabric and spray with smooth, even strokes. This will add a bit of glitter to show through the painted portion of your pillowcase. Once dry, use a pencil to sketch out organic shapes in a flowy pattern. Draw out the shapes and areas of each color, parallel to each other like a topographical map. If you’d like, you can find examples of holographic images online as reference. Use a piece of cardboard between your pillowcase layers to stop the paint from bleeding through. Use Tulip Fabric Paint to paint one section of your drawn lines. Before it dries, begin adding the next color to blend them into each other. Keep moving through your colors, blending as you go, until your entire pillow is covered. Note: You may want to do 2 variations of each color, using the color straight from the bottle and then mixing it with white. A little more variety of color will add more dimensions to your holographic look! Let dry completely. Finish your pillow by adding a few more coats of Tulip Colorshot Fabric Spray Paint, letting dry for 5 minutes between coats. Add as many layers as you like to make it as glittery as your heart desires.

Making your own busy book for the kids is simple with Aleene’s Felt & Foam Tacky Glue and Fabric Fusion Tape! Get inspired with this tutorial from LuLuMake to create a personalized busy book that your kids will love! What you need: Aleene’s Felt & Foam Tacky Glue Aleene’s Fabric Fusion Tape Felt, assorted colors Watercolor paper or cardstock Ruler or 8.5 x 8.5 square acrylic ruler Scissors Loop rotary cutter (optional) Leather hole punch tool Eyelet kit (optional) Hook and loop nylon fabric (optional) Velcro dots Felt shapes Felt alphabet Thread Buttons Ribbon 2”binder rings Step 1 Before you get started on this project, brainstorm the design and color scheme of your busy book! You can use your child’s favorite colors, characters, and more—let your imagination shine with this unique and fun project! Step 2 If you have stiff felt sheets available, use them to create the pages. Measure and cut two square felt pieces (8.5 x 8.5 inches) using scissors or a loop rotary cutter. Cut one slightly smaller square of watercolor paper for each page as well. Watercolor paper or cardstock can be used to reinforce the pages. Step 3 Mark where binding holes will be, so that objects on pages that won't interfere with the binding. It helps to create a template to reuse so there are no mistakes and all pages have holes in the same area! Step 4 Use the leather hole puncher to create holes on both felt sheets. Use scissors to remove the felt circles if needed. Step 5 Apply Aleene's Fabric Fusion Tape along the edges of the watercolor paper, except where the holes will be (create the holes on the watercolor paper AFTER you stick it to the felt sheets!). Remove the top liner of the tape. Align the watercolor paper square onto the felt and press to adhere. Repeat on the other side. Make two holes using the leather hole puncher. Repeat these steps to create as many pages for your book as you'd like! Step 6 (optional) Apply the eyelets according to package instructions. You can also choose to skip this step, but it makes everything look neat and tidy! Step 7 One side of each page is an activity page, while the other side will be a pocket to keep all loose parts all together. This is a great way to teach kids how to keep things organized! To create a pocket, use soft felt with the provided template. Apply the Fabric Fusion Tape on the bottom and side of the cloud pocket and press it to the page. Step 8 Create the opening and closing pages of the busy book. Cut two watercolor paper squares and stick them to each side of the felt squares using the Fabric Fusion Tape. Mark the middle of the page and place a piece of fabric tape, then press on the closure ribbon. Lastly, apply the Fabric Fusion Tape along the watercolor paper squares and glue the two parts together. Repeat the same process for the closing page. Step 9 Its time to bring your characters to life! Use the provided templates or create your own characters. Trace or draw each character onto the felt and cut them out, and add as many details as you'd like with additional felt, markers, or other embellishments. Glue the pieces together using Aleene's Felt & Foam Tacky Glue, then adhere them to the page using either the glue or Fabric Fusion Tape. Step 10 After you glue all the characters and their details onto the pages you are all done! Allow the glue to dry fully, then use 2" binder rings to keep the pages together. Now your busy book is ready to play with! Are you inspired to make a personalized busy book for your children? Show us your creative crafts on social media @AleenesDIY!

Overlap a small piece of each strip of felt to make one continuous strip, securing with Aleene’s Permanent Fabric Glue. Repeat this with all the white strips that were set aside. Allow to dry, then roll each into a coil. Lay out each long strip perpendicular to the other, forming the letter “L” to get started. Attach both long strips by putting a dab of fabric glue to keep them secure. Add two pieces of painter’s tape between each section to form lines, and then use white fabric paint between the tape. Touch up the white lines once you take the tape off. Use iron-on vinyl or paint to write the color names on each swatch. Allow paint to dry flat for at least 4 hours. To create the paint palette, trace the palette template and trace onto felt with a pencil and cut it out. Glue the felt paint splotches onto the palette with Aleene’s Ultimate Glue. Then attach your elastic by gluing each end to opposite sides of the back of the felt. Assemble your matching costumes and get ready for a night of fun! These costumes are perfect for the creative family who loves art and design. Are you using Tulip Tie Dye to create matching Halloween costumes? Show us how creative you can get! Glow in the Dark Halloween Ghost Costume
Published Date: October 11, 2021 Are you looking for a simple yet stunning costume for your kids this Halloween? Look no further! Ghosts are a spooky staple for the season, of course, but surely the classic white bedsheet could use an upgrade. Oh Yay Studio will show us how to create a frightfully fun glowing ghost costume using the Tulip Glow in the Dark Tie-Dye Kit! Supplies needed - Tulip One-Step Glow in the Dark Tie-Dye Kit - 100% cotton flat kid’s bedsheet - Scissors Instructions Prewash and dry your sheet, then choose your folding technique Before you get started, prewash and dry your bedsheet. Then choose your technique for folding and binding your project. In this example, Oh Yay Studio uses the accordion tie-dye technique. Prepare the tie-dye solutions Prepare the tie-dye solutions according to the package instructions. Add water to each bottle at the indicated “Water Fill” line. Reattach the nozzle with cap on and shake vigorously for a minimum of 1 minute. Remove the nozzle again and add the Glow Mixer to the indicated “Mixer Fill” line. Reattach the nozzle and cap and shake the solution for a minimum of 1 minute. Apply the dye solution to each section of the bedsheet. Apply your desired color of Glow Tie-Dye solution to each section, getting into all of the folds and crevices. Be sure to wear gloves during this step! To help the fabric absorb the dyes, work the solution into the fabric using your hands as you apply it. While applying they dye solution, shake regularly to ensure an even distribution of glow pigment in the dye. For best results, dye should be applied to a dry project. Allow the sheet to air dry for 24 hours, then machine wash and dry. When you’re finished applying the dye, remove the rubber bands and unfold your sheet. Lay the garment horizontally on the lined workspace to air dry for at least 24 hours to allow the dye to set. Flip the garment over halfway through the drying process to ensure that all layers dry thoroughly. Once it has thoroughly dried, machine wash your garment with cold water and a mild detergent on the “delicate” setting and allow to air dry. Measure and cut out eye holes Have your child try on the sheet, and measure approximately where their eyes are lined up on the fabric. It helps to mark the fabric so that you know exactly where to cut. Finally, cut out the two eye holes and your ghoulishly glowing ghost costume is ready! To charge the glow pigments, place the garment outside in the sunlight for 30-60 seconds or use a flashlight to recharge at night as needed. Spooky Chic Planters Halloween Craft Idea
Get into the spirit of the season with wickedly fun décor that’s as glam as it is ghostly. This simple Halloween craft idea from Norx in the Know uses budget-friendly materials to DIY a spooky set of planters for your potted plants. Add a finishing touch with COLORSHOT Premium Spray Paint for a scarily chic display you can update with seasonal accents for year-round use. What you need: - COLORSHOT Premium Spray Paint – Head in the Clouds shown here - Foam rings – enough for desired size planters - Glass bowl – to fit inside foam rings - Glue gun + glue sticks - Disposable plastic surface cover - Texture spray - Large vases to serve as planter bases - Spiders, flowers or other Halloween accentsHalloween planter supplies For this Halloween craft idea, first decide where you want to create your display so you know what size of planters you’ll need to fit the space. That will help you determine how many foam rings to use, and the size of the vase for your planter base. Apply glue to foam base To attach the rings together, apply a line of glue around the top of one ring. (If you don’t have a hot glue gun, you can use any strong industrial glue that works on foam.) Press foam ring on top of glue Press another foam ring on top of the base ring. Tip from Norx in the Know: there is a seam line on each ring, so make sure to align the seams as you stack each ring on top of the other for a cohesive look. Continue gluing and stacking to desired size Place the glass bowl in the center of the foam rings, then continue applying glue and stacking rings until you’ve created the planter containers to your desired size. Once the glue is dry, it’s time to start painting this fun Halloween craft idea! Spray texture onto foam rings Working in a well-ventilated area, spray texture to your liking on each planter, working your way around all sides. Spray COLORSHOT onto rings Next spray several light coats of spray paint onto the planters and the base pieces, letting dry between coats. Glue foam rings to base After the spray paint dries, glue the base pieces to the base of the glass bowls sitting inside the planters. Let dry. Place potted plant inside planter Don’t forget to insert plants into your new planters! Embellish planters with Halloween items Complete this cool Halloween craft idea by attaching spooky spiders, flowers or other themed decorations to each planter. (If you plan on switching out the decorations per season, use a temporary glue instead of a permanent one.) Easy planter Halloween craft idea Such a wickedly easy Halloween craft idea, right?!
