Rainbow-Drip Tie-Dye T-shirt
Published Date: June 26, 2018 Tie dye season is upon us and here at Tie Dye Your Summer we are bursting at the seams with tie dye ideas using our Tulip One-Step Tie-Dyes! We just love the look of dripped dye and wanted to combine it with the love of all things RAINBOW! This tee is especially perfect if you have leftover dyes from previous tie-dye projects that you want to use up. It's so the perfect stash buster project to use up all that dye! Let us show you just how easy it is! What you need: – Tulip One-Step Tie-Dye kit - Super Big (this kit contained the rainbow of colors I was going for) – Water pitcher – 100% cotton shirt – Plastic surface cover or tablecloth or just tie dyed on the grass, cause there's really no harm in it and it's pretty much mess free! – Optional: Plastic bag or freezer paper to put inside shirt so it won't bleed to the back side NOTE: One of the important aspects of this process is that you DON'T wet your shirt before you begin. Most tie dye projects work best if you wet the shirt and can absorb the dye, but not this one. 1) The easiest first step in all of crafting history...lay the dry shirt flat on the ground. 2) Next, fill up your bottles of dye or use your leftovers (day-old dye works great for this). Now start slowly dripping your color from the bottom in small and medium drops. You'll get a hand for it as you go. 3) Do the next color in color order. In this example, we went in the following order up the shirt: Yellow, Orange, Fuchsia, Purple, Violet, Blue, Turquoise, Green, and Lime. You can use any color combo you want and in your own order. 4) Cover in plastic, let it set for 6-8 hours, then rinse it out until the water runs clear. Put it in the washer on a light load with a small amount of soap and dry! The final result is so cool!!! Now, the dye might drip to the back and that's okay...it's tie dye after all. OK, technically, it's not "tie" dye, but tie dye sounds so much more cooler than just dye.
Galaxy Reverse Dye T-shirt
Published Date: June 14, 2018 Here's a real twist on tie-dyeing...the reverse method! All you need to reverse tie-dye is water and liquid bleach. Instead of applying dyes to a plain white fabric, you start with a solid color and alter the existing color. You take away the manufacturers' color and then add your own for a look that's out of this world! Wash and dry black T-shirt. Tie shirt in desired tie technique. Mix bleach solution- 1 part bleach to 3 parts water and pour into squeeze bottle. Apply bleach solution to your shirt as you would dye. Keep an eye on your shirt and when it reaches desired lightness, remove bands and rinse under running water. Shirt may still be slightly brown in bleached areas. Should only take 30- 40 mins, maybe less. Don’t leave bleach on too long or it will burn holes in your garment. Wash shirt and leave damp. Lay out flat on covered work surface. Mix desired dye colors and apply to bleached areas of shirt, making sure dye saturates to back of shirt. Allow to set 6-8 hours overnight then wash and dry shirt as fabric requires. What You Need: Tulip® One-Step Tie-Dye Kit Super Big Black cotton T-shirt Bleach Plastic squeeze bottle Disposable plastic table cover

Tie-Dye Shorts 3 Ways
Published Date: May 29, 2018 Summer time means two things; shorts and tie-dye! In case you didn’t know, tie-dye isn’t just for shirts. You can dye pretty much anything! So since the weather is getting warmer, why not add some color to your favorite pair of shorts? Here are 3 ways you can use Tulip One-Step Tie-Dye to give your shorts a fun spin. Supplies needed -Tulip Tie-Dye Party Kit Instructions This first one is super simple! All you do is take your dye, and apply it in a stripe pattern on your shorts. The colors will blend a little, but that’s okay! Now you have an awesome rainbow on a summer day. Check out how Crafty Chica created hers! You’ve heard of ombre hair, ombre nails, but guess what; the ombre technique has made its way to tie-dye and it’s pretty awesome! If your shorts aren’t already white, or a lighter wash finish, then we suggest bleaching them for best results. Then add the dye to the bottom of your shorts and use a brush to brush the dye up towards the top. The color should fade as you brush up, giving the ombre effect (You could totally start at the top and work your way down too). Pearmama created some awesome ombre shorts here. The last technique that would be awesome to try with your shorts is the dip dye technique. Simply put your dye powder in the tub and just add water. Here, two colors are used but you could just use one if you like. Take your shorts and dip! That’s it! Look at how awesome this patriotic pattern came out! There are many other ways you can dye your shorts, but these are the most fun! And that’s what summer time is all about right? Don’t forget to be creative and colorful!

DIY Mosaic Stepping Stone
Mosaic Stepping Stones are the perfect addition to any backyard or garden but can be time-consuming and expensive to make. Here's a super easy way to make your own customized stepping stone with only a few supplies. Most traditional Mosaic Stepping Stone tutorials have you pour the entire stone out of cement but we're taking a bit of a shortcut to make the process quicker. It's the perfect gift for the gardener in your life! What you need: - Aleene's Tacky Glue - Aleene's Spray Acrylic Sealer - Various Shapes of Flat Marbles - Concrete Paver - Cement Mix - Latex Gloves - Cloths Step 1. Begin by laying out the marbles on the cement paver in a design you like. Don't apply any glue yet, we're just playing around with the layout until you're happy with the look. Step 2. Once you've decided on the layout, begin adhering the marbles to the cement paver with Aleene's Tacky Glue. I found it easiest to apply the glue to one marble at a time. Don't worry if the glue seeps out the edge of the marble. It'll dry clear and we'll be covering it with cement in the next step anyway. Step 3. Once the glue has dried completely and the marbles are adhered in place on the paver, begin preparing the cement mix according to the package instructions. Step 4. Using latex gloves to protect your hands, press the cement mix around the glass marbles on the concrete paver. Make sure you press it into all the small corners and get a nice smooth finish around the edges. You're looking for a clean transition on the edges from the cement mix to the paver so that you can't tell the whole stepping stone wasn't poured at the same time. Step 5. Use a paper towel or cloth to wipe away the cement mix from the top of the flat marbles. Step 6. Place a damp towel over the entire Mosaic Stepping Stone and allow to harden according to the cement mix instructions. Step 7: Optional: Spray the Spray Acrylic Sealer over stepping stone for extra protection.

Tacky Glue as Paint Pouring Medium
If you’re not doing it yet, I’m sure you definitely want to try it. Paint pouring that is! This new trend is showing up EVERY where and every artist is getting in on the craze. But you don’t have to be an artist to try it. And you don’t have to spend crazy bucks to get a great finished product. The key to paint pouring is using a paint pouring medium that really allows the paint to FLOW. And if you didn’t know, Aleene’s Original Tacky Glue works as a great (inexpensive) paint pouring medium. So keep reading, take notes and have fun! What you need: - Aleene’s Original Tacky Glue - Stretched canvas in desired size - 3-4 acrylic paints in desired colors, plus white for base color - Silicone oil - Bowl/ plastic spoon for making glue mixture - Plastic cups for paint colors and supporting canvas - Large plastic cup (used for paint pouring technique) - Disposable surface cover - Large tray or cookie sheet to catch drips To get started, Pour desired amount of glue into mixing bowl, enough to create enough mixing medium for each paint color. Add water to glue and mix until consistency of honey, adding more glue or water as needed. Pour paint colors into cups and add glue mixture, approximately 1 part paint to 2 parts glue mixture. Stir together, adding small amounts of water or glue mixture until paint mix is the consistency of honey. Add approximately 3-4 drops of silicone oil for each tablespoon of unmixed paint to paint mixtures and stir. Do not add silicone to white mixture. On covered work surface, support canvas on plastic cups over tray to catch drips. The first technique showed here is the Dirty Pour Pour small amount of white paint mixture into pouring cup. Tip- whichever color is on the bottom will be on top once you pour your cup onto the canvas. Heavier paint colors will also sink to the bottom. Layer the other colors in alternating layers in cup. Lay your canvas on top of the filled cup. Holding the cup firmly against the canvas, carefully flip canvas right side up and lay it on the support cups. Slowly remove cup from canvas, allowing paint to move freely on canvas. Gently tip canvas in different directions to cover canvas and create abstract design. Set onto cup supports and allow to dry. This fun, creative and colorful project is definitely a great way to unwind and let your creative juices flow. Remember, a great finished product starts with great paint poring medium. And thats just what Aleenes Original Tacky Glue can be used for!

DIY Puffy Paint Non-Slip Socks
If you’re a parent you know how valuable non-slip socks are for the little ones. Especially if you have hardwood in your home; those little gummy dots on the bottom are pretty much life savers. Step 2: Roll a section of dough with your hands and roll flat with a rolling pin until about 1/4 inch thick. Step 3: Cut out shapes with cookie cutters, emboss with stamps, paint the dough while wet or tint the dough with paint in a plastic bag to create unique ornaments like these: Cactus Ornament: Use a cactus cookie cutter to cut the shape out of dough. Paint with green and coat with green glitter. Punny Embossed Ornament: Add dough and paint to a plastic bag and mold until dough is marbled. Use small alphabet stamps to press a punny saying into a circle or oval ornament and paint over the words to bolden. Flamingo Ornament: Use a flamingo cookie cutter to cut the shape out of dough. Paint with pink, white and black paint. Photo Frame Ornament: Cut a large oval out of dough, then cut a smaller oval out of the middle to create a frame. Decorate with any of the above techniques. Then glue a photo to the back of the frame shape with Tacky Glue. Emoji Ornament: Paint a circle ornament to look like your favorite emoji. Step 4: Use the straw to cut a hole in the top of the ornament where it will hang. Step 5: Set dough aside to dry out completely for at least 24 hours. Step 6: Once dough has hardened, thread string through the holes in the ornaments and tie.

DIY Ultimate Cork Christmas Tree
We know that as the holidays roll around, your drink of choice is most likely wine. (who are we kidding, it’s everyone’s drink of choice even when the holidays aren’t here, but we’ll keep that a secret). Instead of tossing the corks, use them in the fun DIY project that’s perfect for rustic holiday décor. Just grab Aleene’s The Ultimate Multi-Surface Adhesive and let’s get started. What you need: - Aleene's The Ultimate Multi-Surface Adhesive -Wine corks -Twine -Burlap -Christmas lights 1. First, gather all of the corks you have. If you don't have as many as we have in the video, totally fine! This tree can be as little or as large as you want. A mini version is perfect for a cute little ornament. 2. Start gluing the corks together side-by-side. This will create a row of corks. Keep doing this to create more rows, with the next row having one less cork than the one before. 3. Once you have your desired amount of rows, depending on how big you want the tree to be, start gluing the rows together. They will look stacked on top of each other in the shape of a tree. 4. Now that the corks are formed into the tree shape, take 3 corks and glue them in a triangle for the top of the tree. 5. Take 3 more corks and do the same thing; except these will act as the trunk of the tree, at the bottom. Take the twine and wrap it around these 3 corks. Be sure to glue as you wrap, to secure the twine in place. Then glue this to the bottom. 6. Now, take the burlap and make a bow then glue it to the top of the tree. 7. Grab the Christmas lights and insert them in the spaces between the corks. Be sure to plug in the lights once you've placed the tree where you want it. These trees are easy to create but still add the perfect holiday touch. Still need to get a gift for that wine-lover friend of yours? Don't WINE about it! Not only is this a fun recycling craft, but it's a great gift idea!
