The Art of Making Paper Flowers with Pink & Posey

Explore the art of paper flowers with Pink & Posey creator Quynh Nguyen, whose lifelike blooms and approachable teaching style inspire makers of all skill levels. With Aleene’s Tacky Glue, creating your own paper flowers is simple, fun, and beginner-friendly—just cut, shape, glue, and watch each petal come together into a beautiful handmade bloom.

Supplies Needed:

• Aleene’s Tacky Glue

• Colored crepe paper (pinks, yellow, green)

• Cardboard pieces

• Floral wire

• Scissors

• Pencil

Steps

1. Create Templates for Petals.

Create cardboard templates of your flower petals with arrows pointing to the ends of the petal. Trace the coordinating templates onto the designated paper before cutting. Make sure the template arrow runs the same direction as the grain of the crepe paper so they appear realistic.

2. Cut Out the Petals & Stamen.

Cut out your petals to form your flower. Cut out a rectangular yellow piece for your stamen. Make small cuts along long side of rectangle to create fringe.

3. Form Flower Center.

Place a line of glue dots along the uncut part of the fringed yellow paper. Wrap this strip around one end of the floral wire tightly. Set aside to dry.

4. Shape the Petals.

Gather your petals and create groups of 6 using a small dot of glue at the base. Slightly stagger the petals when gluing them together. Create 6 sets.

4. Create the flower.

Place a line of glue on only 5 of the 6 sets. Hold the unglued set in your hand and then take one of the glued sets and place it behind, stacking and slightly staggering. Repeat with the other sets to form a slightly circular pattern. Once you have glued all the stacks, close the circle of petals by gluing the base of the petals. Press firmly.

4. Place flower on stem.

Grab the stamen and stem and place a line of glue at the base of the fringed stamen. Slide the stem in the middle of the ring of petals. When the fringed stamen is in the center of the ring of petals, press firmly to glue the stamen to stem with petals. Let dry.
