Apply more tape and paper to create the third section of your color block painted door. Step 6 - Apply the third color to the painted door For the final section of our color block painted door, we’re using Farmer’s Daughter, a sweet pink shade to tie it all together. Shake the can well for at least one minute. Hold the can upright 6"-10" from surface and apply paint to the third section in smooth, even strokes. Once the first coat of paint has dried to the touch, apply a second coat of spray paint. Step 7 - Let the color block painted door dry Reveal! Once the paint has dried to the touch, carefully remove all the kraft paper and tape from your painted door and reveal your vibrant color blocked design! Easy Paper Mache Recipes

Easy Paper Mache Recipes

Paper mache is an art form that combines paper with a sticky substance like glue that hardens once dry. Why would anyone want to try this messy art? People of all ages and skills love paper mache because it's such a versatile art form. You can mold it into any shape such as a mask or sculpture. It's lightweight. You can paint it and decorate it any way you like. Those are just a few reasons! Besides, sometimes it's just fun to get your hands messy, don't you think? If you're looking for paper mache recipes, you've come to the right place! Here are a few easy ideas to get you inspired:The Old-Fashioned Paper Mache RecipeWe don't know about you, but when some of us were in school, the way we learned to make paper mache glue was with flour and water. Yep! Good ol' flour and water - no paper glue needed. Some recipes call for equal parts flour and water, or 1 part flour to 2 parts water. It's all according to preference. Whisk your flour and water mixture until there aren't any clumps, then it's time to coat your paper strips and create your project.Tacky Glue Paper Mache RecipeWe might be biased, but we think glue is better for paper mache! Especially a glue made to work with paper. Why do we think this? Glue is a better adhesive than flour, it dries clear, and makes a better base for painting. (And hey, then you can save your flour for making something yummy like cookies!) Aleene's Original Tacky Glue is a great option for paper mache because it's nontoxic and safe to work with. Plus it has good holding power. For your Tacky Glue paper mache recipe, simply mix 1 part water with 1 part glue. Whisk until it's evenly mixed, then dip your strips of paper into the mix and start layering on your project. Decoupage Paper Mache RecipeIf you want to skip all of the mixing and get straight to your paper mache project, try Aleene's Premium Decoupage instead. It works the same way! Decoupage is a good glue for paper, and it works as a sealer too. If you decide to use decoupage for paper mache, just make sure to brush some onto the object you are molding your paper to. Then brush more onto your paper once you have it pressed onto the mold. So easy, right? Feel free to add extra paper layers, because decoupage can be layered too! What's the best kind of paper to use for paper mache art? Soft paper is the best paper to use for paper mache because it's much easier to mold, and it absorbs the glue better for a stiffer hold once dry. Good paper options to try for paper mache are newspaper, tissue paper, paper towels, paper doilies, and even thin wrapping paper.Whatever paper mache recipe you decide to try, remember to make sure you use a glue that dries clear (most do, but it's good to double check). This makes a better base for painting your paper mache project! We're now feeling inspired to start a new project, how about you? Choose your favorite holiday-themed card stock papers and ribbons to start with. Step 2: To begin, fold a large square sheet of paper from corner to opposite corner to create a triangle. Step 3: Fold the bottom of the triangle over again towards the opposite corner, keeping a sharp point on one end. (This will be the top of your tree.) Fold over once more. Step 4: Unfold your paper so its back into a square shape with defined folds. Step 5: Following the existing folds as a guideline, accordion fold the sheet of paper over and under until you reach the other side. This will help create stability and dimension for your paper Christmas trees. Step 6: Cut a straight edge along the bottom of your folded triangle to form the base of your paper Christmas tree. Step 7: Now to turn your paper Christmas tree into a luminary! Starting on one of your folded sides, cut a slightly curved line into the center of the folded tree (but not all the way to the opposite side), then cut another curved line towards your first cut, cutting out that section of paper. Repeat this all the way toward the tip of the tree, leaving space in between each cutout. Step 8: Repeat creating cutouts along the opposite side, cutting smaller sections in between the existing cutouts. Cut all the way to the tip of the paper Christmas tree. Step 9: Unfold your paper Christmas tree and apply Tacky Glue along one of the sides, then press the opposite side into the glue to form a dimensional tree. Let dry completely. Step 10 Cut a strand of ribbon and tie it into a bow, then glue to the top of your paper Christmas tree. Glue a strand of sequins along the bottom edge to complete it. Easy Paper Gingerbread House

Easy Paper Gingerbread House

Does anyone actually eat the gingerbread houses they make? Especially after all of the fun it is to create them! If you're more about displaying your child's hard work than eating it (there's no judgment of course, since we also love eating - especially sweets), this gingerbread house craft is for you. Our friends at Project Kid show you how to make a paper gingerbread house using Aleene's Original Tacky Glue and supplies you likely already have in your craft stash. Get the kids together and have some fun with this easy Christmas craft! What you need: - Aleene's Original Tacky Glue - Square tissue box - Scissors - Cardboard - Cardstock - desired colors + white - Red and white paper straws - Felt - green - Mini pompoms - red and white - Paint pen - white - Cupcake liner - white - Chenille stems - Iridescent glitter - Foam brush To create the main pieces for the house, trace the side of the tissue box onto cardboard and cut out. Repeat to make a second piece. Print template, trace, and cut cardboard sides for the front and the back of the house. Cut a 5 by 8 piece of cardboard for the roof (make sure the corrugation is in the direction of the fold). Glue the four cardboard sides to the box with Tacky Glue, with the front and back opposite one another. Bend the roof piece in half and add glue to the top edges of the front and back pieces. Press the roof piece in place on the top edges. Cut paper straws at an angle and glue them to the side edges of the front of the house. Glue two more to the front edge of the roof. Cut colored cardstock into doors and windows and make a candy window by attaching small segments of a cupcake liner to the sides of a circular window. Make a mini wreath by twisting a green pipe cleaner into a circle. Glue on a small pipe cleaner bow, and glue to the front door. To create a snowy roof, cut a piece of white cardstock to fit the roof, creating "drip shapes" on opposite sides. Use a foam brush to brush an even layer of Tacky Glue onto cardstock and sprinkle with iridescent glitter. Fold in half and glue to the roof. Cut holly leaves from green felt and glue them to the apex of the roof with three mini red pom-poms. Use a white paint pen to draw fun designs onto the house as desired. Look at how cute this paper gingerbread house is! And the best part ... you don't have to toss this house when the season is over. Once you're finished crafting, you can head to the kitchen to whip up a batch of gingerbread cookies to satisfy your sweet tooth!
