DIY Dog Costume: No-Sew Burger with Felt Glue

DIY Dog Costume: No-Sew Burger with Felt Glue

If you’re like us you love dressing up your dogs for Halloween with DIY dog costumes! Get your pets in on the spooky season festivities with an adorable no-sew burger costume! This tutorial from Oh Yay Studio will show you how to make a tasty-looking hamburger costume for your pets using Aleene’s Felt & Foam Tacky Glue. Halloween has never looked so cute! What you need: Aleene’s Felt & Foam Tacky Glue 1 round foam ball Felt in “burger” colors (tan, white, green, red, yellow) Scissors Knife Paintbrush Brown paint Elastic or ribbon Straight pins (optional) Step 1 Use knife to cut your foam ball into 4 pieces for this burger costume. The top rounded piece will be the top bun, the second piece will be the patty, third will be the bottom bun. Set aside the bottom rounded piece for another craft project! Step 2 Cut a circle of tan felt to fit the top rounded piece, leaving approximately 3 inches around the edges to fold to the underside. Step 3 Use Aleenes Felt & Foam Tacky Glue to glue the felt in place. Optionally, you can secure the felt in place temporarily with straight pins while the glue dries. You'll want the felt to be nice and taut as to eliminate any creases in your DIY dog costume! Step 4 Repeat steps 2 and 3 with the third piece of your foam ball to create the bottom bun. Step 5 This classic burger costume would not be complete without sesame seeds on the bun! Use scissors to cut out seeds from white felt and glue to the top bun. Step 6 Next, you’ll want to create a juicy patty for your dog’s burger costume! Take the second piece of the foam ball and paint all sides brown. Add extra details, such as grill marks and shading, for a more realistic patty. Set aside to dry completely. Step 7 While the patty is drying, cut some felt to create toppings for your DIY dog costume. For this project, Oh Yay Studio made lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, and cheese. Get creative with the details to make a one-of-a-kind burger costume for your pup! Try making felt onions, mushrooms, bacon, or any other combination of condiments and toppings! Step 8 Once the paint and glue have dried, it's time to start assembling your dogs burger costume! Remove any pins and begin layering your burger. Start with the bottom bun, then glue down your lettuce, patty, cheese, tomatoes, pickles, and any other toppings. Lastly, glue down the top bun and squeeze the burger together to ensure everything is properly adhered. Step 9 Once the burger costume has set, add elastic or ribbon to the bottom to fit your dog's body. Secure with glue and allow to dry completely. Step 10 Its finally time to dress up your pup! Be sure to snap some photos of this adorable DIY dog costume before the Halloween festivities begin. Will you be creating a burger costume for your furry friends this Halloween with Aleenes? Whether you are going for spooky or cute, we want to see your DIY dog costumes! Snap a pic of your pup and us on social media @AleenesDIY!

Easy DIY Graduation Party Favors

Easy DIY Graduation Party Favors

Graduation ceremonies might be different again this year, but that doesn’t mean you can’t celebrate! Craft Box Girls will show you how to make party favor jars for at-home celebrations that are perfect for grads of any age. Grab your Aleene’s Turbo Tacky Glue and toss your hat to a craft that deserves an “A” for creativity! What you need: - Aleene’s Turbo Tacky Glue - Black cardstock or construction paper- White paper- Yellow yarn - Black buttons- Mason jars- Pen or marker- Ruler- Pencil- ScissorsStep 1 These fun graduation jars are perfect for party guests and even gifts for your grad; it all depends on what you decide to fill the jars with! Step 2 First cut a strip of black paper to fit around the rim of the jar lid and glue in place with Turbo Tacky Glue. Step 3 Next measure and cut a 3.5 x 3.5 square from the black paper. You might need to adjust the size of your square depending on the size of the lid. Step 4 Add some Turbo Tacky Glue to the jar lid and press the black square in place on top. Step 5 Next cut a strip of black paper to fit around your jar. Adjust the width if needed, depending on the jar size. Step 6 Glue the paper strip in place around the jar. If you dont want to glue it directly onto the jar (if you want to reuse the jar), simply add glue to one end of the paper strip and roll it around the jar, pressing the other side of the strip into the glue to secure it. Step 7 To create the graduation cap tassel, start by wrapping the yellow yarn around your hand about 8 to 10 times. Cut the strand connected to your main skein of yarn. Step 8 Thread another strand of yellow yarn through the top of your looped section of yarn and tie a knot in the strand to secure. Step 9 To finish your tassel, cut your looped section of yarn at the bottom to create loose strands. Then wrap another strand of yarn around the strands about below the top and tie a knot to secure. Step 10 Glue the ends of the tassel hanger onto the center of the grad cap on the lid, then add another dot of glue on top and press a button in place to secure. Let dry. Step 11 Cut a 2 x 4 strip of white paper and write a special note to your grad, or to friends and family for party favors thanking them for coming to celebrate this milestone! Step 12 Roll the note from end to end, then glue a strand of yellow yarn to the back of the paper roll. Wrap the ends of the yarn around the paper roll and few times, then tie in a bow to secure. Step 13 Add a dot of Turbo Tacky Glue onto the back of the diploma and press in place onto the front of the jar. Let dry completely. Step 14 Once theyre ready, fill your graduation party jars with treats for guests, or special gifts for your special grad! Step 15 What else are you crafting up for celebrating your graduate this year? Show us your Turbo Tacky Glue and other Aleenes Glue creations by tagging us on social @aleenesdiy!

Pretty Paper Clover Plants DIY

Pretty Paper Clover Plants DIY

You could spend hours out on the lawn looking for a lucky clover, or you can make your own luck that doubles as a pretty house plant too! These Lucky Clover Plants from Lia Griffith use colored papers and Aleene's® Original Tacky Glue® to create lifelike greenery you'll want to keep around the house long after spring is gone. Grab a bottle of glue and get your creativity blooming with this paper craft that'll look lovely on display in your home or for adding some life to your work space! What you need: - Aleene's Original Tacky Glue - Text weight paper - green, light pink, pastel yellow - Brush-tip marker - deep purple - 24-gauge paper-covered wire - Floral tape - Floral foam - Planters - Craft scissors - Cutting machine (optional) - Curling tool - Needlenose pliers/wire cutter Download the template from Lia Griffith here. Note: There are two sizes of clover leaves so you can create a large or small lucky clover plant. Use scissors or a cutting machine to cut papers according to the template for clover leaves, flowers and stamens. Cut as many as desired for your plant, cutting two leaves for every "clover leaf" for the front and back of leaf. Shade the base halves of clover leaves with a deep purple marker. Flip clover leaves over and apply Tacky Glue to backsides. Place one end of wire in glue. Press a second leaf over wire and base leaf to sandwich wire in between. Repeat for others and let dry. Gather four wired leaves together and wrap floral tape around wires to hold together. Arrange leaves into clover and bend wires out. Use a curling tool to gently curl each leaf down. To create clover flowers, first glue stamen piece around the tip of a wire. Apply Tacky Glue to the base of the end petal on each flower piece. Wrap flower petals around wired stamen and secure first petal to last petal by pressing into glue. Use a curling tool to gently curl flower petals down. Place floral foam into a small pot. Add moss into pot to cover the floral foam. Push clovers and flowers into floral foam and arrange plant for displaying. These paper plants look as pretty as the real deal, and they'll last all year long! Make one for yourself or as a special spring gift for family and friends.

No-Sew Rainbow Hoodie for Kids

No-Sew Rainbow Hoodie for Kids

Somewhere over the rainbow ... is another rainbow on a hoodie that's unbelievably adorable and fun to wear in rain or shine! Made with yarn, pompoms and nontoxic Fabric Fusion, there's no sewing required so it's an easy project for the kiddos to get involved in. Our rainbow is featured on a hoodie but you could easily recreate this technique on a T-shirt, tote bag or canvas to make cute wall art! Follow the rainbow this way to creativity ... What you need: - Aleene's Fabric Fusion- Aleene's Stop Fraying- Hoodie – color of choice (or T-shirt, tote bag, etc.)- Thick yarn – rainbow colors- Pompoms – white and blue for clouds and rain- Pencil (optional)- Cardboard or plastic trash bag (for inside of hoodie)- Scissors Make sure your hoodie (or fabric item depending on what you are creating) is clean and dry. Insert a piece of cardboard or a plastic trash bag inside of the hoodie to protect the backside in case any glue seeps through the top layer while you are working. If needed, first use a pencil to lightly draw a rainbow arc on the front of the hoodie. Otherwise, freehand apply a thin line of Fabric Fusion in an arc shape for the top rainbow color. Tip: Less is more when using Fabric Fusion. Applying too much will oversaturate the fabric and cause it to become difficult to glue your yarn to. So make sure to apply a thin line to your hoodie. Measure and cut your first color of yarn to fit glue arc. Press into glue and trim any excess. Continue the process with other yarn colors until your rainbow is complete. Apply Stop Fraying to the ends of yarn strands to keep the yarn from unraveling. Let dry. Use Fabric Fusion to glue white pompoms at each end of the rainbow to create clouds. Glue smaller blue pompoms scattered under clouds like falling raindrops. Let dry completely.
