4th of July Patriotic Wreath Using Fabric Glue

4th of July Patriotic Wreath Using Fabric Glue

Looking for a fun way to welcome guests to your 4th of July barbecue? This tutorial from Craft Box Girls will show you how to make a fabulous patriotic wreath that’s perfect for showing off your love for all things Americana. This simple project comes together with a little help from Aleene’s Quick Dry Fabric Fusion and Tulip ColorShot Fabric Spray Paint! What you need: Aleene’s Quick Dry Fabric Fusion Tulip ColorShot Fabric Spray Paint (Red, Blue) Faux flowers Rectangular wooden door sign Step 1 Before you get started on this project, clean your wooden door sign from any dust and debris. Place your flowers on the board to count how many will fit on your patriotic wreath. Set aside the flowers that will be spray painted. Step 2 Now it’s time to paint the flowers for your patriotic wreath! Be sure to cover your work surface to protect from overspray. Shake can well for at least 1 minute, then hold can 6-8" from your flowers and spray with smooth, even strokes. Shake often during use. Apply one light coat at a time, waiting 5 minutes between coats. Remember, several light coats are better than one heavy coat! Step 3 Repeat with the flowers you set aside to be painted blue. Allow all of your spray painted flowers to dry for at least 30 minutes. Step 4 Finally, it’s time to assemble your patriotic wreath! Apply a small amount of Aleene’s Quick Dry Fabric Fusion to each flower before placing it onto your wooden door sign. Press and hold firmly for a few seconds to secure. Continue to glue your flowers onto the board, with a block of blue in one corner for the “stars” and alternating rows of white and red flowers for the “stripes.” Once the glue has dried completely, your door décor is ready to display! Lay your dress out flat on your covered work surface and accordion pleat and fold vertically and use rubber bands to secure, evenly spacing each rubber band to create 5 sections. Prepare your tie-dye solutions according to package instructions. For this project, we’re using all 5 colors in the Retro Brights Kit! Cool Mom DIY Tie-Dye T-Shirt

Cool Mom DIY Tie-Dye T-Shirt

This craft isn’t just for regular moms— it’s for cool moms! Let the parents at the playground know who’s boss with this DIY tie-dye tee. This tutorial from Norx In The Know will show you how to use Tulip Puff Paint to create a beautifully bold statement shirt. Then use Tulip Mystery Tie-Dye Poppers for an extra burst of colorful fun! You’ll look so stylish in this trendy tie-dye look! What you need: - Tulip Puff Paint - Tulip Mystery Tie-Dye Poppers - White or light-colored shirt - Precision craft knife or cutting machine - Permanent vinyl sheet or paper - Paintbrush - Cardboard Before you get started on this DIY tie-dye tee, you’ll want to paint on your statement. Wash and dry the shirt that you will use, then measure it to see what size you want your stencil to be. Cut out the letters from a sheet of vinyl or paper by using a precision craft knife or cutting machine, leaving the negative space. Transfer the stenciled design to your garment by laying your paper pattern and taping in place, or use transfer tape to transfer your design from your cutting machine. Press it down to make sure it sticks well! Place a piece of cardboard between the two layers of the sweatshirt to prevent the paint from bleeding through. Then choose the colors you want to use and start painting! Apply Tulip Dimensional Fabric Paint directly from the bottle and use a paintbrush as needed to fill the stencil. Applying paint directly from the bottle will result in unique textured letters! Gently remove the stencil while the paint is still semi-wet, being careful not to smudge any of the paint. Allow the paint to dry for at least 72 hours before proceeding—you don’t want the paint to bleed and smudge when you tie dye! Now it’s time to tie dye with the Mystery Poppers! Dampen your custom shirt with water, then lay it flat on a protected work surface. The more wet the garment, the more the dye will spread and blend throughout the fabric! Place your desired number of Poppers throughout the shirt, then whack the Poppers with the included mallet and watch the secret dye colors burst! Spritz your project with water after exploding Poppers to increase color blending. Discard the Popper shells and wash and dry according to package instructions. Your DIY tie-dye shirt is now ready to wear! What kind of DIY tie-dye looks will you create? The possibilities are endless with Tulip Mystery Tie-Dye Poppers! DIY Headboard Idea with Spray Paint

DIY Headboard Idea with Spray Paint

Every child wants a cool bed to sleep in. With this fun DIY headboard idea, you can turn their bedroom into a cabin getaway while freeing up some space and not spending a fortune. All you’ll need is a few thin wood pieces, COLORSHOT Premium Spray Paint and some simple tools for your kids to be sleeping with a new roof over their heads. Like, right over their heads! What you need: - COLORSHOT Premium Spray Paint(This project uses Blackout, but feel free to use your favorite shades!) - COLORSHOT Premium Acrylic Paints (optional) - Three 1”x 1” x random length unfinished wood sticks - Jigsaw or other power saw - Pencil - Measuring tape - 1 ½ in. finish nails - Hammer - LevelSketch out your house For this DIY headboard idea, you’ll need to start by sketching out your house. Begin with your base lines. Draw the sides of your house with pencil, starting at your baseboards. Customize the height and width of your project to your preference. Now find the top of your house and draw your roof. From the top of your base lines, measure half the length and make a mark. Now from that point, measure the same distance up and make another mark. This will be the top of your roof. (You can now erase your bottom mark.) Take a yardstick or one of your wooden sticks to help you draw a straight line from the top of your roof to each baseline. Your chimney’s height and width are once again your preference. Draw it out with straight lines making sure the top and sides are level. Erase the part of the roof that is going through the chimney. Measure & Cut First, measure the width of your wood. If it is not 1 in thick, make a note as we’ll be using this width for our measurements. (For the sake of instructions, we will be using 1 inch). On your left stick, measure the length of your left base line and make a line. Now measure 1 inch down and make another line. Diagonally connect these 2 lines, top left to bottom right, to create your cut line. Use your jigsaw to cut the diagonal and set aside. Now repeat these steps for the right base stick, but make your diagonal connect the top right corner to the bottom left corner. Repeat these steps for the 2 roof pieces, keeping the bottom square but measuring and cutting the diagonals for the tip of the roof. The chimney is a little tricky, but you can follow the same process and reference these images to make the correct diagonal cuts. Now you’ll want to cut the chimney part out of your right roof stick. Assemble your right stick and your roof pieces lying flat on the ground in front of you. Draw vertical lines where the INSIDE of your chimney intersects your roof stick. Cut your line marks and remove the inside of your chimney. In a well-ventilated area, use your favorite COLORSHOT Premium Spray Paint to paint each stick. Apply several light coats to cover all sides and corners until your desired coverage is reached, letting dry between coats. Assemble Your Headboard It’s finally time to assemble your DIY headboard! Use nails at both ends of each stick and hammer them into the wall. Having another set of hands to hold up the pieces is definitely helpful! Make sure the insides of your sticks are lined up with your sketched lines. Paint Your Clouds Have some fun and use your creativity to create clouds for your DIY headboard. Play with some different shapes and sizes—COLORSHOT Premium Acrylic Paints are perfect for this! You can even change up the colors, starting with blue paints on the bottom clouds and gradually moving up to green clouds. It’s all up to you! Are you making a custom DIY headboard with COLORSHOT? Reverse Tie Dye Sweatshirt

DIY Colorful Reverse Tie Dye Sweatshirt

Tie dye isn’t just for fashionable summer fun; we’re all about it for fall too! Mikyla Creates will inspire you to combine Tulip Reverse Tie Dye with your favorite One-Step Tie-Dye Kit so you’re ready to cozy up in color when cooler weather arrives. What you need: - Tulip Reverse Tie-Dye Kit - Tulip One-Step Tie-Dye Kit of choice - Sweatshirt - Plastic table cover - Sealable plastic bag Before getting started on your reverse tie dye, prewash and dry your sweatshirt without fabric softener. You’ll want to do this especially if the sweatshirt is new, so the chemical called “sizing” washes away. (It can prevent the Color Changer from absorbing into the fabric.) Lay out your dry sweatshirt on a covered work surface and start scrunching the fabric together. Use rubber bands to help tightly crumple the fabric and hold it in place. Flip the sweatshirt over and repeat on the back side with additional rubber bands. This will give you lots of cool crumple patterns in the fabric. Follow instructions for activating the Color Changer with water. Apply Color Changer onto the scrunched sweatshirt, working the tip of the bottle into the folds. Repeat on the backside. Note: If you’re going to be touching the fabric as you work with the Color Changer, make sure to wear the protective gloves that come in your kit. Allow the Color Changer to process on your project until the desired amount of color is removed. Check it regularly as the Color Changer processes. Then, wearing gloves, remove the rubber bands and thoroughly rinse your sweatshirt. Optional: Lay the damp sweatshirt out flat on your work surface and apply additional Color Changer for added reverse tie-dye effects! If you want to skip this step, wash your sweatshirt according to instructions after removing the rubber bands and rinsing. Rinse and wash the sweatshirt after your desired amount of color removal, then lay the damp sweatshirt out on your covered work surface for adding tie dye. For added crumple effects, scrunch the sweatshirt again, then mix and apply your favorite dye colors! Place in a sealable plastic bag and allow the dye to process for the time recommended in your kit. After the dye processes, rinse, wash and dry according to instructions. And now you’re ready to cozy up in colorful reverse tie dye when cooler weather hits! How will you be using Tulip Reverse Tie Dye this fall and winter? No-Sew Fringe Clothing DIY with Fabric Glue

No-Sew Fringe Clothing DIY with Fabric Glue

Fringe accents are back in a big way, and we’re all about this fun textured trend. From handbags to denim jackets, shirts and home décor, adding fringe to your fabrics is so easy, and you don’t have to know how to sew to make it happen. In this clothing DIY, Annie Papi will show you how to glue fringe to fabric using the Aleene’s Fabric Fusion Dual-Ended Glue Pen! What you need: - Aleene’s Fabric Fusion Dual-Ended Glue Pen - Button-up shirt or desired fabric item - Fringe trim - Scissors - ClothespinsStep 1 If your fabric item is washable (like clothing), make sure it’s been washed and dried without fabric softener before getting started. You’ll want to ensure that anything that could prevent the glue from properly adhering to the fabric has been washed away! Step 2 This clothing DIY really is as easy as gluing fringe trim onto a shirt, skirt, jacket or other item! Measure and cut the length of fringe trim youll need depending on where you will be gluing it. Annie wanted to run fringe across the entire back of her shirt, as well as along the edges of the front pockets. Step 3 Once you have the fringe cut, simply run a thin line of Fabric Fusion along the top edge of the fringe trim, and press in place on your clothing. Remember, less is more with fabric glue. Too much glue can oversaturate the fabric and cause issues with adhering. You can also use clothespins or sewing pins to help hold the fringe in place as it dries. Step 4 Once the glue dries, your fringe is ready to rock. And thats it for this fringe clothing DIY! Such a simple process that makes a fab fashion statement. Step 5 Annie took her fringe top to the rodeo! How are you accenting your outfits and accessories with fringe and Fabric Fusion? Tag us on social @aleenesdiy and share your clothing DIYs with us!

Words of Kindness Tie-Dye Shirts

Mommy and Me Idea: Words of Kindness Tie-Dye T-shirts

Spread good vibes everywhere you go with a words of kindness T-shirt made even brighter in spirit with tie dye! Craft Box Girls will show you how to create fun tie-dye quote art tees for everyone in the fam with Tulip Two-Minute Tie Dye and Dimensional Paints. It’s the perfect project for adding some smiles to your day – and everyone else’s – every time you wear it! What you need: Tulip Two-Minute Tie Dye Kit of choice - Tulip Puff Paint of choice - White 100% cotton T-shirts - Pencil - Cardboard - Disposable plastic surface cover - Words of kindness quote To kick off your words of kindness family T-shirt project, first wash the shirts (without fabric softener) and leave damp. Cover your work surface with a disposable plastic surface cover. You can choose any tie-dye technique you want for this project! (This will be the background for your words of kindness quote, but don’t worry, any tie-dye pattern will work.) Craft Box Girls went with a spiral tie-dye pattern. To do this, lay your damp shirt out flat, then pinch it in the middle and twist the entire shirt until a spiral is formed. Secure the shirt with rubber bands according to the technique. For spiral as shown, crisscross three rubber bands to create six wedge shapes on the bound shirt. Prep your dye bottles according to instructions, then add tie dye to the bound T-shirt. For spiral, you can add as many as six colors – one per wedge – or as few as one color. It’s up to you! Then flip it over and repeat adding dyes in the same pattern on the other side. Before placing your dyed project in the Two-Minute Tie Dye Container, it’s SUPER important that you make sure all areas of the shirt are still very damp. If any part has started drying out, spritz with water to re-dampen. Then place into the container and process in the microwave, let set and launder according to instructions. After your tie-dye shirts have been washed and dried, it’s time to add words of kindness to them! Lay the shirts out flat and place a piece of cardboard into each shirt to hold it stable while you paint, and to prevent any paint from soaking through to the back side. If you don’t feel comfortable freehand painting, you can use a pencil to lightly sketch out your quote onto the shirts first. Next use your Tulip Dimensional Paints to trace over your words of kindness in any colors you like! Once you’ve finished making your words of kindness pop with dimensional color, let the shirts dry flat until the paint is completely dry. Now it’s time to spread words of kindness where ever you wear your fun family tie-dye T-shirts! What else are you inspired to make to help spread some extra cheer in your community? For this project, Handmade Charlotte used the Crumple Tie-Dye Technique, but you can use any tie-dye technique you like! After folding your fabric into whatever tie-dye pattern you like, secure it with string to hold in place. Next, follow the instructions on your Tulip Fabric Dye packet to mix up the dye, hot water and salt in a large plastic tub. Submerge your bound fabric in the dye bath, flipping it over every 10 minutes or so for about an hour. Tip from Handmade Charlotte: If you don’t feel like flipping the fabric over at regular intervals, you can instead place a heavy waterproof item on top of it to keep it completely submerged in the dye while the dye processes. After the dye has set, remove the string from the blanket and rinse under cool water until the runoff is clear. Wash separately and dry according to instructions. If you want to add extra color to your indoor picnic blanket like Handmade Charlotte, you can repeat the dye process with another dye color over the dye pattern you just created. It’s totally up to you! (Charlotte went with Dusty Rose first, and Taupe over the top of it!) Once your new tie-dye blanket is dry, you’re ready to throw a fabulous indoor picnic for your fam! The great thing about an indoor picnic during wintertime is you can stay warm & cozy while enjoying a typically outdoor activity that’s full of your favorite foods, good conversation and quality time with loved ones! Are you feeling inspired to host your own winter indoor picnic with a fabulous tie-dye blanket? How are you staying creative this winter with Tulip? How to Glue Patches on Stretchy Loungewear with Fabric Glue

How to Glue Patches on Stretchy Loungewear with Fabric Glue

Most of us are living in loungewear these days, and we can’t say we’re mad about it. Who doesn’t love being comfortable?! But that doesn’t mean we don’t want our loose, stretchy clothes to also be cute. One quick and easy way to give our comfy clothing fun new flair is with patches; and before you tell us you don’t know how to sew patches on clothing, we’ll tell you that you don’t have to know! Crafterward will show you how to glue patches on loose, stretchy clothing with Aleene’s Flexible Stretchable Fabric Glue. What you need: - Aleene’s Flexible Stretchable Fabric Glue - Loungewear - Patches Step 1 To take your loungewear from simple to simply amazing, you only need your favorite patches and a bottle of Flexible Stretchable Permanent Fabric Glue. This glue was designed specifically for stretchy clothing like dancewear, loungewear, knits and more. So you never have to worry about it drying stiff and making your wearables uncomfortable or awkward! Step 2 Before getting started, make sure youve washed and dried your loungewear without fabric softener (especially if its brand new). New clothing has a chemical called sizing on it that can prevent proper adherence of the glue (and fabric softener can do the same thing). Step 3 Lay out the patches on your loungewear to decide where you'd most like them to be. Apply Flexible Stretchable to the back of each patch and press in place on the garment. Let dry completely for about 24 hours. Tip: If you're working with a fitted garment that is stretchy, it helps to place cardboard or something inside the garment to help stretch out the fabric while you glue on the embellishments, so the glue penetrates the fibers properly. Step 4 Once dry, you can put on your loungewear and take it easy in style! Now that you know how to glue patches onto loungewear, what else will you do with Aleenes Flexible Stretchable Fabric Glue? We'd love to see what you're making, so tag us on social @aleenesdiy and share with us!

Polka Dots Clothing DIY

Polka Dot Clothing DIY with Fabric Paint

Looking for creative ways to make your old outfits new again? Or maybe add some extra color to a simple set of clothes? This clothing DIY from Norx in the Know uses Tulip Fabric Paints in glittery colors to dress up a loungewear set with sparkling polka dots. Pick out your favorite paints and let’s get started! What you need: - Tulip Fabric Paints in desired colors - Loungewear set or other clothing - Round object for making dots (like the eraser end of a pencil or handle of a paint pouncer) - Paper plate or paint palette - Paper towels Before getting started on this clothing DIY, make sure your wearables have been washed and dried without fabric softener, especially if they are brand new. (New fabrics are usually coated in a chemical called “sizing” that can prevent the paint from properly bonding with the fabric fibers. Fabric softener does the same thing.) Shake each paint color and squeeze some of each onto a paper plate or paint palette. Dip your round object (such as the eraser end of a pencil or a brush handle) into the first paint color, then press onto your clothing. Continue this process with the first color, creating dots randomly on your clothing. Clean off your brush handle (or tool you are using) and dip into your next paint color. Repeat the process of dipping into paint and pressing onto the fabric until you are happy with the way your polka dots look on this clothing DIY! Depending on the paint color or finish you are working with, you might want to dab on a second coat after the first coat dries. When you are finished, let your clothing dry flat until the paint is completely dry. Now it’s time to shine in your sparkling polka dot clothing DIY! Wasn’t it so easy to add a little something extra to your outfit? What other clothing DIYs are you creating with Tulip Fabric Paints? Make sure to tag us on social and share with us!

Quick and Easy Tassel Rug with Fabric Glue

Quick and Easy Tassel Rug with Fabric Glue

Rugs are a great way to add color, style and comfort to our spaces, but have you ever priced them out? They can be expensive! Save your budget by giving an old rug you already have new life, or upgrading a simple one you snagged on discount with some special additions. In this tutorial, Mikyla Creates will show you how to add fringe and tassels to a rug using Aleene’s Stop Fraying Permanent Fabric Adhesive. It’s a quick and easy way to affordably update your rugs –with no sewing needed! What you need: - Aleene’s Stop Fraying Permanent Fabric Glue- Rug- Tassel trim - Fringe trim- ScissorsStep 1 For this rug DIY, Mikyla decided to layer two different trims – fringe and tassel – for added interest and texture. For your rug you can do the same, or use just one kind of trim, or experiment with others!Step 2 Measure and cut the trims to fit along the sides of the rug you'll be adding them to. (You can do all sides or just opposite sides.) Apply a small amount of Stop Fraying to each end of the cut trims to help prevent them from fraying in the future. (This could happen with any wear and tear over time when moving your rug, vacuuming or walking across it.) Let dry. Step 3 Next flip the rug over so the underside is facing up (since youll be gluing the trim to the underside edge). Apply a line of Stop Fraying along the edge of the rug and press the first trim in place over the glue. Repeat this for all of the sides you are applying trim to. Tip: If you are applying two trims like Mikyla, make sure the trim you want on top when the rug is right side up is the first trim you glue in place. Step 4 For your second trim (if adding), apply Stop Fraying over the top of the base edge of the first trim, or directly behind it on the rug. Press the second layer of trim in place over the glue. Let dry completely before flipping the rug back over. Step 5 Didn't we say it would be easy to update a rug with trim? So simple, and so fabulous, right? Step 6 Were pretty certain everyone in the family will love your new tassel rug, even your furry family members! How would you update a rug with Aleenes? How to Paint Clothing the Easy Way

How to Paint Clothing the Easy Way

Is everyone else feeling those fall vibes as much as we are? We are so ready for cooler weather, cozy clothing, and you know it – pumpkin spice everything! Send summer off with fabulous fall fashion you can make on a budget (Christmas is just around the corner, after all). Norx in the Know will show you how to paint clothing in the easiest way using Tulip ColorShot Instant Fabric Color and freezer paper. You can use this technique for shirts, jeans, jackets and more this fall! What you need: - Tulip ColorShot Instant Fabric Color - T-shirt or other clothing - Freezer paper - Craft knife - Iron Our first tip on how to paint clothing is a pretty important one: make sure your clothing has been washed without fabric softener, especially if it’s brand new. New fabrics are coated in a chemical called “sizing” to help avoid wrinkles and stains, and it can prevent the paint from properly bonding with the fabric. Same with fabric softener. You’ll also want to use a paint made specially for fabric, like Tulip ColorShot Fabric Spray Paints, or any other Tulip Fabric Paints. They’re all flexible drying and can be machine washed! If you’re wondering how to paint clothing with your very own designs, we promise it’s easy! If you don’t have a cutting machine, you can still make it happen with freezer paper. Draw or trace your design onto the non-shiny side of the freezer paper, then cut it out with a craft knife to create a stencil. Iron the stencil shiny side down onto your clothing; the wax will melt and create a temporary hold on the fabric. If you’re using only one color, you can get straight to spray painting. If you’re using multiple colors like Norx in the Know, tape over the stencil openings that will be different colors than the color you are applying, and repeat the process with each color. Remember to spray light, even coats of ColorShot instead of one heavy coat. You can also use Tulip Brush-On Paints or even Fabric Markers if you don’t want to use fabric spray paint. Once you’re happy with your coverage, peel off the freezer paper stencil and let your design dry completely. Once it’s dry, it’s ready to wear! Now that you know how to paint clothing in the easiest way with Tulip Color Products, you’ll be able to be creative, make cool stuff and stick to your budget. What will you be DIYing – and wearing – this fall? Tag us on social @tulipcolorcrafts and let us know! Happy fall y’all!

Form into cone shape and glue Add craft glue to one side of the hat, then wrap both ends around to form it into a cone shape. Press the side without glue into the glue on the other side. Glue cone hat to headband Use your hot glue gun to glue the ice cream cone hat in place on a headband. Draw sprinkles on T-shirt Place freezer paper or heavy cardstock in between the layers of your white T-shirt to help prevent any paint from soaking through to the back of the shirt. Form into a cone shape Apply glue to one side, then wrap each side around to form a cone. Press the sides together and let the glue dry. Paint cone hat Paint a wavy line around the base of the cone hat with Emoji Acrylic Paint, then fill in with paint all the way to the bottom edge, all around the base of the cone hat. Paint the pencil lead with Little Black Dress Acrylic Paint at the very tip of the cone hat. Let dry. Glue hat to headband Glue your pencil cone hat to a headband with your hot glue gun. Pencil last-minute Halloween costume Throw on a yellow T-shirt for a last-minute Halloween costume that deserves an A+, don’t you think? Sometimes it pays to procrastinate! How to ice tie dye with Fabric Paint

How to Ice Tie Dye with Fabric Paints

The tie-dye trend took off in a BIG way this year, and we couldn’t be more excited about it; we LOVE tie dye! We also love seeing how creative and innovative people are getting with their tie dye, like these fabric paint ice tie-dye shoes from Freshly Fuji. Instead of using traditional Tulip One-Step Dyes to ice dye her shoes, she tried the technique with Tulip Soft Fabric Paints! Read on to see how to ice tie dye with fabric paints in this easy-to-follow tutorial. What you need: - Tulip Soft Fabric Paints of choice - Tulip Dazzling Glitter Paints or Dimensional Paints - White fabric shoes (canvas works best) - Painter’s tape - Disposable cups - Stir sticks - Wire rack - Bucket - Ice - Plastic bags - Disposable plastic surface cover - Cardstock - White pencil or chalk pencil This technique is a great way to cover stains on older shoes you already have, or to completely customize a brand-new pair! Before getting started, remove the laces from your shoes and cover your work space with a disposable plastic surface cover. Use painter’s tape to mask off the soles of the shoes to protect from paint when ice dyeing. Stuff them with plastic bags to help hold their shape while dyeing. Shake your Soft Fabric Paints and add about 1 tablespoon of each into a separate cup. (You don’t have to measure, you can just eyeball it.) Then add 2 to 3 tablespoons off water to each and stir to mix. The goal is to create a pourable consistency for each paint color. Tip: you can even mix the paint colors to create your own custom colors if you’d like! Place the wire rack over a bucket, then place your shoes on top of the rack. Spritz with water to dampen, then tape cardstock around the shoes to help hold the ice in place. Pile ice on top of the shoes, completely covering them. Pour your watered-down paints randomly over the ice cubes, then allow the ice to melt completely. As the ice melts, it will transfer the paints onto the shoes with super cool watercolor effects! Once all of ice has melted, leave the tape around the soles, and clean off the shoelace rivets with cotton swabs. Allow the shoes to dry overnight. Once the shoes have dried, remove the tape and clean around the soles (if needed) with adhesive remover and cotton balls/cotton swabs. If desired, use a white pencil or chalk pencil to trace a star shape on the outside of each shoe. Paint in your star designs with Soft Fabric Paint, then outline with Dazzling Glitter Paint or Dimensional Paint. Let dry completely. And that’s how to ice tie dye with fabric paints! Pretty easy, right?! How will you get creative with this fun technique? Tag us on social using @tulipcolorcrafts and let us know!

Once all dye is added, place in a plastic bag to set For the bullseye tie-dye technique, you can use as many or as few colors as you like! Try applying a different color to each banded section, or alternating colors between sections like Annie and her daughters. Once you’ve added all of your dye colors, place in a sealable plastic bag to keep damp for 6 to 8 hours or overnight for the dye to set. Once the dye has set, rinse and wash your tie-dye T-shirts according to instructions. Groovy Tulip Tie-Dye Family Fashion with Annie Papi “I asked my daughters what the highlight of the birthday weekend was, to which they both shouted ‘our tie-dye shirts!’” Annie shared. “I have no doubt we will be tie dyeing all the things this summer using Tulip One-Step Tie-Dye. Pallet Project Idea: American Flag

Pallet Project Idea: American Flag

Pallets are great for transporting, protecting and storing items, but they also make great tools for creativity too! Case in point: this so fabulous American Flag pallet project idea from one of our very own COLORSHOT team members, Lindsay Sherfy. If you're spending Fourth of July festivities at home this year, give your yard some star-spangled flair with a big patriotic pallet flag that's super easy to make with COLORSHOT Premium Spray Paints. What you need: - COLORSHOT Premium Spray Paints (Stamped Passport, Stiletto, Marshmallow) - 2 Wood pallets - Wood stars - Painter's tape - Industrial/wood glue This pallet project idea actually requires very few supplies for a piece that makes such an impact. Wipe down your pallets to remove any extra dust or debris, then tape off every other section of each to protect from overspray. Also tape off a square section on the upper left corner (measuring 4 rows) of the pallet where your stars and blue paint will go. Spray several light coats of Stiletto onto the exposed panels of the pallet, letting dry between coats. Once you are happy with the coverage, remove the tape from the covered sections (except for the square area). Once the red stripes dry, cover them with tape (or use tape around the edges and sturdy paper like butcher's paper if you're worried about taping over the color). Repeat spraying the remaining stripe sections with Marshmallow (white) spray paint. Spray your wood stars with Marshmallow as well. Remove the tape from the square section on the left corner (but masking around the square) and spray with several light coats of Stamped Passport. Remove all protective tape/coverings and let dry completely. Once the paint has dried, use your industrial or wood glue to glue your painted stars in place in the blue square section. Let completely dry. When your pallets are dry, it's time to prop them up in your yard! You can display them on their own or as a colorful backdrop for your serving table or seating areas. This American Flag pallet project idea also makes for a fun patriotic photo backdrop! However you're celebrating Independence Day this year, do it with more flair than fireworks using COLORSHOT Premium Spray Paints!

Summer Tie-Dye Kimono

Summer Tie-Dye Kimono

Published Date: June 04, 2020 Forget scrolling for hours online trying to find the perfect summer pieces for your wardrobe and make the perfect wardrobe yourself! Holly from Club Crafted shows you how to use Tulip One-Step Tie Dye to create the essential summer staple – a bright tie-dye kimono. We’re obsessed and plan on wearing kimonos all season long because they make any outfit instantly more chic, whether you’re in skirts, shorts, pants, or even a swimsuit! Made by you, for you, a DIY tie-dye summer kimono is authentic and one of a kind – just like you! Supplies needed Tulip One-Step Tie-Dye Kit of choice White Kimono (prewashed, made of 100% natural fiber fabric such as cotton, rayon or silk) Wire rack Rubber bands Plastic wrap or large plastic bag Protective plastic covering for your work surface Instructions Wash kimono and leave damp First, wash your kimono and make sure it is completely saturated with water, then wring out the excess water. Mix dyes according to instructions Protect your workspace with a disposable plastic surface cover. Follow the product instructions to properly mix your dyes with water before beginning. Holly used six colors to dye her kimono, but you can use as many or as few colors as you’d like! Bind kimono with rubber bands following the bullseye technique Lay your Kimono flat, front side up, and get your rubber bands ready to create your tie-dye design! You can use any tie-dye technique you’d like for your look, but for this project, Holly used the bullseye tie-dye technique to create small bullseye patterns all over her kimono. To create a similar look, start by pinching the fabric in one spot and pulling it upward about 4 inches. Wrap a rubber band around this section at the base, then wrap another 2 inches above it. Repeat this process all over the kimono where you’d like the bullseye patterns to appear. Add dye to kimono in desired color patterns Arrange the damp kimono evenly on top of a wire rack to prevent the dye from pooling underneath the kimono. It’s okay if it gets scrunched up here! Put on the gloves provided in the kit and proceed to add dye to the sectioned-off bullseye shapes where you would like color to appear. You can make each bullseye a different color or several colors by applying a different color between each banded section. Wrap dyed kimono in plastic while dye sets Wrap your entire project in plastic wrap or place it into a large plastic bag and let the color set according to product instructions. Remove rubber bands to reveal design Once the set time is over, carefully remove the kimono from the plastic and cut off the rubber bands to reveal the designs. Be extra careful when cutting off the rubber bands so you don’t accidentally cut the fabric! Tulip Summer Tie-Dye Kimono Rinse the kimono under cool water until the water runs clear. Wash and dry according to kit instructions. Tulip Summer Tie-Dye Kimono Swoon! We love how vibrant and colorful this tie-dye kimono turned out. Tulip Summer Tie-Dye Kimono Whether you just jumped out of the pool or you are dancing your heart out to the grooviest tunes, this tie-dye kimono is sure to be your favorite thing to wear all summer long!

Quick and Easy Tie-Dye Handkerchiefs

Quick and Easy Tie-Dye Handkerchiefs

Published Date: June 03, 2020 Handkerchiefs are the universal accessory; you can use them to tie up your hair, wear as a scarf, accent a handbag and so much more. However you like to wear your handkerchiefs, do it with the trend that's taking the season by storm - tie dye! Got a few minutes? Club Crafted shows you how quick and easy it is to create your boldest new accessories using Tulip Two-Minute Tie Dye and cotton handkerchiefs. Supplies needed - Tulip Two-Minute Tie-Dye Kit of choice - White 100% cotton handkerchiefs - Disposable plastic surface cover Instructions Twist damp handkerchief into a swirl Prep your work surface by covering with a disposable plastic surface cover, then wash your handkerchiefs (without fabric softener) and leave damp. Decide which tie-dye techniques you want to try on your handkerchiefs. For this one, Club Crafted used the spiral tie-dye technique. Lay your damp handkerchief out flat, then pinch the fabric in the center and twist it into a swirl. Bind with rubber bands Bind your swirled handkerchief with 3 rubber bands, crisscrossing the rubber bands to create 6 wedge shapes. Set aside. Accordion pleat and bind for the stripes tie-dye technique For the next handkerchief, Club Crafted used the stripes tie-dye technique. Accordion pleat your entire damp handkerchief with even pleats, then bind by wrapping rubber bands spaced along the handkerchief. Set aside. Triangle fold accordion style the next handkerchief For the last handkerchief, Club Crafted used the triangle fold, a technique similar to the folding tie-dye technique to create a cool grid pattern. To achieve this, lay the damp handkerchief out flat, then accordion fold the fabric from one side all the way to the other. Starting at one end, fold one corner over to meet the folded edge on the opposite side, forming a triangle shape. Fold this triangle shape back, accordion style, creating another triangle section. Continue accordion folding your triangle folds across the length of your fabric. Bind with a rubber band around each corner. Apply dye to projects Add water to your dye bottles and shake to mix, then apply desired colors to each of your bound handkerchiefs. You can add the dye in any patterns you like - there's really no wrong way to do it! Don't forget to flip your projects over and apply dye to the other sides as well. Microwave according to instructions Check to make sure your projects are still damp in all areas. If any portion has dried, mist with a spray bottle to re-dampen. It's important that the projects are completely damp when microwaving so as not to scorch the fabric. Place your dyed projects into the Two-Minute Tie-Dye Container and snap the lid securely shut. Process according to your instructions. Remove rubber bands, rinse and launder according to instructions Once your handkerchiefs have processed and cooled according to the instructions in your kit, remove the rubber bands, then rinse and launder per your instructions. Quick & easy tie-dye handkerchiefs Such a quick and easy way to make yourself some bold new accessories! Tulip Quick & Easy Two-Minute Tie-Dye Handkerchiefs Now you have some fun new tie-dye handkerchiefs on the ready for any and every summer excursion!

We're not bragging or anything (or maybe we are), but have you tried our acrylic paints yet? If we haven't convinced you yet, maybe our friend Steffi Lynn can! Check out this stunning painted letter artwork she created with COLORSHOT Acrylic Paints; these are just some examples ... to see all letters, check out our Acrylic Paints section! What you need: - COLORSHOT Premium Acrylic Paints (desired colors) - Canvas - Paintbrushes - Paint palette - Pencil (optional) If you aren't comfortable freehand creating your letter, you can first sketch it out lightly on the canvas with a pencil. Then begin painting with your base color. Because COLORSHOT dries quickly, apply lighter coats at a time, building layers as needed. Let your base accent color dry a bit before adding the main color. If you'll be working accent designs like flowers over the top of your letter, brush the paint around the designs on the letters. Use a detail brush like a liner paintbrush to add in detailed designs, starting with your darkest colors. Use lighter colors to add highlights. Once you're happy with your design, let it dry completely before displaying. COLORSHOT Acrylic Paints dry to the touch in 30 minutes! How pretty is this letter J?! And remember, COLORSHOT Acrylic Paints are mixable, so you can create your own custom colors if you don't have the shade you're looking for. Here are a few more letters to get you inspired! What letter will you create with COLORSHOT? Try this letter painting technique to make your own monogram, a set of letters for a word, or as a fun gift for friends and family. Get creative with COLORSHOT!

To achieve a palette similar to this sweatshirt, try the Mermaid 5-Color Kit or colors from the Kaleidoscope 12-Color Kit. Pink Crumple Tie-Dye Shorts If it isn't already warming up where you live, it will be soon. Get ready for summer in bright crumple tie-dye shorts that make a statement! Grab a faded pair you already have or make your own cutoffs from some old jeans - just make sure the denim is 100% cotton for best and brightest results when tie dyeing. Comfort Zone: DIY Tie-Dye Loungewear

Published Date: April 17, 2020 Whether you're working or schooling from home or you're not even sure what day it is, chances are, loungewear is your new go-to daily outfit choice. Is anyone even wearing jeans at this point? Pass the sweats and leggings please! Since we're all pretty much laying low right now, we recommend chillin' in style with tie-dye loungewear. Not only is tie dyeing your stuff a fun creative activity (that you really can't mess up if you tried because all tie dye is cool), but you get something awesome to wear afterward. Check out this roundup of comfy tie-dye DIYs that'll have you ready for your next video chat with no extra effort! Supplies needed - Tulip One-Step Tie-Dye Kit of choice - 100% cotton hoodie or sweatshirt in white - 100% cotton leggings or sweats in white - 100% cotton tank top or T-shirt in white Instructions Pastel Stripe Tie-Dye Sweatshirt Right now we're vibing with soft color palettes like pastels and other cool tones. They help put us in a zen state of mind! This simple pastel stripes tie-dye design across a cozy sweatshirt is all about total relaxation. You can keep it simple with just a few stripes like we did, or add stripes to your entire sweatshirt; get creative with it! Pastel Crumple Tie-Dye Sweatshirt Doesn't this hoodie remind you of a softer version of camo? Create this cozy vibe by watering down your dyes to make them extra pastel, then using the crumple tie-dye technique on the entire hoodie (don't forget to flip it over and dye the backside as well). You can use a mix of your favorite dye colors with the crumple technique, or one color if you want to keep it super simple! Another way to get this cool watercolor pastel look is with the ice dye technique; you don't even have to add water to your dyes - just sprinkle them over the ice on your hoodie and let the ice do the work! Ombre Tie-Dye Tank Top A soft tank top is perfect for lounging, especially as the weather starts to warm up! Recreate this simple ombre tie-dye design by mixing up your dye and squeezing it directly from the bottle onto the tank top, applying more dye at the bottom and less as you work up towards the top. Try blending several dye colors for a fun variation, or applying the dye to the top section instead. Tie-Dye Leggings We don't know about you, but we're basically in leggings 24/7 right now, and we're not sorry about it. We're just sorry we don't have MORE LEGGINGS. Treat yourself to a one-of-a-kind set with tie dye! You'll want to make sure your leggings are 100% cotton so you can dye them, then check out our tie-dye leggings tutorial to see how we created this cool inverted V tie-dye pattern. We opted for simple black dye, but you could absolutely recreate this same pattern using multiple colors, or trying a completely different tie-dye technique on your leggings. Ice Dye Pastel Tie-Dye Sweatshirt Remember that ice dye technique we mentioned for the hoodie above? Try combining it with the stripe tie-dye technique for this seriously cool effect! First you'd bind your sweatshirt in vertical stripes (if you're going for this same look), then apply dyes using the ice dye technique. The result is chill loungewear that looks as good as it feels!

Tulip Palm Leaf Baseball Cap

Palm Leaf Baseball Cap

At Tulip, we love seeing the many ways makers and creators put our products to good use. We're tipping our hat to our talented friend Holly at Club Crafted for creating this fun and fabulous Palm Leaf Baseball Cap! Not only is it the freshest thing we’ve seen since Will Smith hailed a taxi to his new home in Bel-Air, we also know that Holly made it in five minutes, using nothing but a hat, a stencil, and our Tulip Neon Fabric Markers. A simple, quick, budget-friendly project with super fashionable results? Sign us up! If palm leaves aren’t your thing (WHY do you hate California?), keep in mind that you can swap out your stencil choice for anything under the sun. Speaking of: You know who also loves palm leaves? The sun! What you need: - Tulip Graffiti Fabric Markers - Neon Pack - Baseball cap - Sticky stencil in design of choice Once you’ve settled on your hat and stencil options (we think that making a commitment to colors and design is sometimes the hardest part of these types of projects), peel and press the stencil onto a section of the cap. Color in the stencil openings using one of the Fabric Markers, using your free hand for extra support if needed. Once you’ve finished coloring in the designs, carefully peel the stencil off the cap. Place it elsewhere on the cap and repeat the process, with as many colors as you’d like, until you’re satisfied with the results. Don’t shy away from overlapping placement on occasion. This helps create depth! That’s it! And the best part of using Tulip Fabric Markers? No heat setting necessary - just let it air dry for permanent results. Sunny days are here again - so put your cute new cap on and get out there and enjoy the weather!

Upcycle Your Decor with Spray Paint

Upcycle Your Decor with Spray Paint

Having fabulous décor doesn’t mean having to spend a fortune on it. Flip or Flop Vegas host Aubrey Marunde shows you how easy it is to upcycle yard sale and thrift store finds with COLORSHOT Premium Spray Paints. Make your space new again without breaking the bank by upcycling anything and everything you can find! Remember, don't be deterred by the appearance of an item; as long as you like its shape, the color is easy to change. So grab your COLORSHOT and get ready to give your budget finds a whole new look! What you need: - COLORSHOT Premium Spray Paints (colors shown here are: Stiletto, Scuba and Lucky Penny) - Lamp - Side table Yard sales and thrift stores are great places to find furniture and decor to upcycle for super cheap! Aubrey found this side table and lamp at a thirft store and planned on giving them a totally modern makeover with bright COLORSHOT Spray Paint colors. Make sure all of your items are clean and free from any dust and prints before painting. Rather than priming the wood table with a basecoat of Primer, Aubrey decided to start with adding Stiletto directly since the paint already has primer in it. If the table you are going to upcycle is made from slick materials, you might want to go ahead and prime first for best results. Spray several light coats of color at a time, until you are happy with the finished result. Let dry completely. The lamp Aubrey upcycled was brass, but yours can be glass, plastic or wood as well! Aubrey's tip: since the spray paint color is buildable, you can leave some of the brass shining through for a more vintage look, or spray until the color is opaque for a vibrant makeover. Did you know you can spray paint lampshades too? Aubrey opted for Lucky Penny for a pretty metallic sheen. Continue spraying light coats until you have a smooth, even finish. Once everything has completely dried, it's time to update your space with your newly upcycled décor. Look at that bold color! And just like that, your furniture finds have an eye-catching new look!
