Quick & Easy Holiday Sweatshirt with Fabric Spray Dye

Creating a custom holiday sweatshirt can be a fun and creative project to showcase your festive spirit. With just a few supplies and creativity, you can make a striped fabric spray dye holiday sweatshirt featuring tape-resist snowflakes. Follow this easy tutorial to craft your own! Supplies: · White 100% cotton sweatshirt · Tulip Confetti 7-Color Spray Dye Kit · Plastic table cover to protect your workspace · Painter’s tape · Scissors Step 1: Prepare Fabric & Mix Dyes Prewash and dry sweatshirt. Lay down a plastic cover or tarp to protect your area from any dye spills or overspray. Put on your gloves to keep your hands clean. Add water to dye bottles and shake to mix. Confirm all dye powder has completely dissolved. Make sure your sweatshirt is clean and dry for best results. Apply painter’s tape onto sweatshirt in large snowflake shapes to work as a pattern resist. Place cardboard or plastic between layers of sweatshirt to protect dye from seeping through to back. Step 2: Spray on Dyes Spray on your dyes in your desired design, spraying over tape snowflake designs. Be sure to apply dye generously, but do not oversaturate fabric. Be careful to not overlap colors. Once you are done applying spray dye, remove painter’s tape from fabric spray dye holiday sweatshirt. Cover sweatshirt with plastic and let set 6-8 hours. Step 4: Rinse, wash and dry Using cold water, rinse out all excess dye until water runs clear. Wash and dry separately according to product instructions. Step 4: Reveal! Congratulations! You've just created a custom striped fabric spray dye holiday sweatshirt with festive snowflakes. Wear it proudly during the holiday season or gift it to a friend or loved one for a personalized gift. Did you create your own fabric spray dye holiday sweatshirt? DIY Fall Décor: Spray Painted Pumpkin Wreath

DIY Fall Décor: Spray Painted Pumpkin Wreath

If you’re obsessed with autumn like we are, you’ll love this spray painted pumpkin wreath! Learn how to use COLORSHOT to make a bold autumn wreath with this easy tutorial from Oh Yay Studio. This gourd-geous DIY can be displayed all season long, so grab your spray paints and get ready to make some colorful front door décor! What you need: COLORSHOT Premium Spray Paints (This project uses Scuba, Mermaid, Extra Guacamole, Emoji, Treasure Chest, Cheers, Summer Pedicure, Lucky Penny, and Cosmo) COLORSHOT White Primer Faux pumpkins, assorted sizes Faux leaves or moss Wreath form Green acrylic paint Paintbrush Hot glue gun Protective surface coverSelect which colors to use for your pumpkin wreath Pick out which colors you want to use for this pumpkin wreath project— Oh Yay Studio used a variety of vibrant colors for a bold fall wreath, but you can also opt for a classic fall color palette, earthy autumn neutrals, modern metallics, and more! Spray paint each pumpkin with COLORSHOT Place your faux pumpkins a protective surface cover in a well-ventilated area and get ready to spray paint with COLORSHOT! Shake the can of spray paint for at least 1 minute before painting your pumpkins. Hold each pumpkin by its stem and rotate while spraying to get an even coat of paint. Apply 2-3 coats of paint, allowing the paint to dry to the touch between coats. Paint the pumpkin stems with acrylic paint Once the spray painted pumpkins have dried completely, paint the stems with green acrylic paint. This extra step adds a more depth to your pumpkin wreath! Add foliage to the wreath form Heat up your hot glue gun and add foliage to the wreath form, gluing into place as needed. Oh Yay Studio used a black leaf garland for their pumpkin wreath, but you can also use autumn-colored leaves or moss for a more natural fall look. Place and glue the larger pumpkins onto your pumpkin wreath Lay your spray painted pumpkins on the outer edge of the wreath before gluing to visualize the placement of each pumpkin on your autumn wreath. Begin gluing the pumpkins to the wreath, starting with the larger pumpkins. Place and glue the smaller pumpkins onto your pumpkin wreath Once your larger pumpkins have been glued onto the wreath, fill in the gaps with the smaller pumpkins. Keep similar colors clustered together for a more cohesive autumn wreath. Spray painted pumpkin wreath with COLORSHOT Once you’ve finished adding all your pumpkins, your DIY autumn wreath is ready to display! This pumpkin wreath adds bold, vibrant color to any front door, and can be displayed as fall décor even when Halloween is over! What other DIY fall décor will you make with COLORSHOT? Holiday Decoration Idea: Tie-Dye Tree Skirt Tassels

Holiday Decoration Idea: Tie-Dye Tree Skirt Tassels

Published Date: November 13, 2024 We think one of the most enjoyable parts of decorating for Christmas is all of the options! From traditional to glam to natural to kitschy, the possibilities are seriously endless. We love this holiday decoration idea from Mikyla Creates – a tie-dye tasseled tree skirt – because of course we love anything tie dye, any time of year! Check out this easy tutorial for how to make your own tie-dye tasseled Christmas tree skirt and get inspired to add some extra color to your holiday décor this year! Supplies needed Tulip One-Step Tie Dye – desired kit or colors - White or cream-colored tree skirt - Cotton yarn in the same color as tree skirt - Spatula to help make your tassels - Scissors - Spray bottle - Disposable plastic surface cover - Paper towels - Embroidery needle/thread Instructions Tassel supplies For this holiday decoration idea, you only need a few supplies for such a fun, colorful result! First, you’ll start by making your tassels. (They’re super easy to DIY!) Wrap yarn around spatula Use an item like a spatula (or even a piece of cardboard) to wrap your yarn around. You’ll want an item that’s about the same width as the length you’d like your tassels to be. Wrap the yarn around your item as many times as you’d like for the thickness of your tassels. Mikyla wrapped hers around a spatula 50 times. Cut yarn off spatula Cut the looped yarn off of the spatula, cutting only on one end (not both). Create hanger strand for tassels Cut a strand of yarn the length that you want your tassel hanger to be. Lay your cut group of strands vertically on your work surface, then place the extra strand you just cut for the hanger across the group of yarn, laying it horizontally and at the halfway point. Fold the group of yarn strands in half over the top of the single hanger strand. Tie string around top to create tassel Cut another strand of yarn and tie it around your group of strands just below the top to form your tassel. Repeat this process to create as many tassels as you’ll need to fit around your tree skirt. Cut bottom of tassel for an even edge Trim the bottom of the tassel so you have a clean, even edge. Cover work surface and mix dyes Now it’s time to get your tassels ready for tie dye! Cover your work surface with a plastic table cover and mix your dyes according to instructions. Mist tassels with water Add some water to a spray bottle and mist the tassels to dampen them. Squeeze dyes onto tassels Squeeze dyes onto the bottom halves of the tassels so they look dip dyed. You can do all one color or as many as you like! Once you’ve dyed your tassels, you can use paper towels to help dab away some of the moisture, then let them dry completely so the dye can set. Sew and tie tassels to tree skirt You’re almost finished with this fun holiday decoration idea! Once your tassels are completely dry, spread them evenly around the tree skirt to get an idea for placement. Thread the hanger strand of the tassel through an embroidery needle, then simply make one loop through the edge of the tree skirt and tie a knot to secure the tassel in place. Repeat with all tassels to attach to the skirt. Tie-Dye Tasseled Tree Skirt Place your tree skirt around your tree and enjoy your colorful tie-dye creation! It’s one fun way to make your Christmas extra merry & bright this year. What holiday decoration ideas are you making this year with Tulip Color Products? Colorful Christmas Fabric Gift Wrap & Matching Ornaments

Colorful Christmas Fabric Gift Wrap & Matching Ornaments

Published Date: November 10, 2024 Looking to try something different this holiday season? Up your gift-wrapping game with Tulip! This furoshiki-inspired gift wrap uses fabric that’s been dyed with Tulip One-Step Tie Dye for a totally unique take on Christmas. And bonus: the leftover dye is perfect for making matching ornaments. In this tutorial, we will be using the spiral tie-dye technique with pretty pink shades, but feel free to use your favorite colors and techniques for a more personalized approach. Christmas is about to get even more colorful! Supplies needed Tulip One-Step Tie-Dye Kit in your favorite colors (This project features dye in Wine, Fuchsia, and Orange) Protective Gloves Rubber Bands White cotton fabric, cut large enough to wrap your present Wooden spoon Paper Christmas ornaments Instructions Prepare the dye solution. Before you get started on this project, wash the fabric without fabric softeners. Mix the Wine-colored dye solution in by adding water to the dye bottle up to the fill line. Replace the cap and shake for 1 minute or until the dye is completely dissolved. Pour the Fuchsia-colored dye powder and water into a bowl and stir with a wooden spoon. Dye entire fabric in a large bowl, wringing out the excess dye. Place the fabric into the bowl containing Fuchsia dye. Ensure that the fabric is entirely saturated with dye by moving it around with the spoon. Carefully wring out excess dye and transfer the fabric onto a protected work surface. Twist fabric into a spiral and secure with rubber bands. Pinch the fabric at its center and twist into a swirl. Keep twisting the fabric tightly until the entire piece is formed into a spiral shape. Secure with rubber bands. Apply darker dye onto both sides of the spiral, then wrap in plastic to set. Apply Wine-colored dye onto the spiral, then flip it over and apply dye to the back. Place your project into a plastic bag and let set for 6-8 hours. Once your dye has fully processed, remove the rubber bands and check out your spiral tie dye! Rinse, wash and dry according to the instruction guide. Place your present in the center of the fabric at a 45-degree angle Once you’re done tie dyeing, it’s time to get wrapping! To get started, lay the fabric flat and place your present in the center of the fabric at a 45-degree angle. Fold one corner of the wrap across the gift, then the other. Fold one corner of the wrap across the gift, then the other, tucking the excess underneath if necessary. Pull the other two corners together and tie into a double knot. Pull the remaining two corners of the wrap together and tie into a double knot and add a gift tag for an extra-personalized touch. Your furokishi-inspired wrap is now complete! This reusable fabric gift wrap is a great eco-friendly alternative to paper gift wrap. Try using a variety of techniques and dyes for a colorful Christmas! Dip paper ornaments into dye and allow to dry completely. Don’t ditch that extra dye—use it for custom dip-dyed ornaments! Transfer the remaining dye into small bowls, then dip paper ornaments into the dye. Allow them to dry completely on a wire or plastic rack so that excess dye doesn’t pool. That’s it! Your matching ornaments are now ready for the tree. What other tie-dye techniques will you try for the holiday season? Show us your colorful crafts on social @TulipColorCrafts!

Revitalize an Old Band Tee with Tie Dye

Revitalize an Old Band Tee with Tie Dye

Tucked away in closets everywhere are old T-shirts brimming with sentimental value yet showing the wear and tear of time. Why not inject new life into these cherished items? This guide, inspired by Oh Yay Studio, demonstrates how to transform an aged band tee into a dazzling, colorful piece using the Tulip One-Step Tie-Dye Kit. Ideal for anyone looking to add a personalized touch to their wardrobe, follow these steps to upgrade your beloved shirts. What You Need: Tulip One-Step Tie-Dye Kit An old white or light-colored band tee Plastic covering for your work surface Wire rack (optional) Step 1 Prepare shirt and mix dyes First, give the shirt a thorough wash and dry (if opting for a dry dyeing method). Then, select a palette that resonates with your style, and mix your tie-dye solutions as per the kit's instructions. Step 2 Fold and securing the shirt Decide on a folding technique for your project. We recommend the easy and effective crumple method for beginners: simply scrunch the fabric into a ball and secure it with rubber bands. Step 3 Apply the dye Position your shirt on a wire rack or a protected surface. Donning gloves provided in the kit, evenly apply your dye to the fabric, ensuring both sides receive color. Then, seal the shirt in a plastic bag or cover it to let the dye set. This process can take between 6 to 8 hours, or leave it overnight for deeper color saturation. Step 4 Reveal! After the dye has set, remove the rubber bands and wash the shirt as per the kit's laundering instructions. Your revitalized band tee is now ready to make its debut! This DIY project is a creative way to refresh any old tee with personal significance, making it a thoughtful gift or a fun activity for any occasion. Published Date: January 16, 2023 When the weather outside turns cold and gray, turn to Tulip to bring beautiful nature-inspired colors indoors! This tutorial from Oh Yay Studio will show you how to create color block pillows with Tulip Nature Tie-Dye Refills. Fill your home with down-to-earth vibes with the enchanting earthy colors in this kit! Supplies needed Tulip Nature Tie-Dye Refills 30 Pack Tulip One-Step Tie-Dye bottles White natural fiber fabric or pillow slip cover Fabric for color blocking Sewing machine Wire rack + sheet tray Protective surface cover Rubber bands Scissors Plastic bag Instructions Prepare tie dye solutions Measure your pillows and make sure that you have a correctly sized pre-made pillow cover OR you have enough fabric to tie dye. Wash and dry fabric if needed. Prep your work station with a protective surface cover and wire rack and sheet tray to catch excess dye. Select which nature-inspired earthy colors you want to use, and prepare your tie dye solutions by pouring the dye powder into the bottles and filling to the line with water. Replace the lid and shake well to ensure the dye powder is properly mixed. Fold and bind the fabric as desired Decide which folding and binding techniques you want to use for your color block pillows! Oh Yay Studio used both the crumple and accordion techniques for their colorful tie dye pillows. Secure with rubber bands as needed. Apply dyes to fabric Put on a pair of protective gloves and begin to tie dye your fabric! Be sure to apply dye to both the front and back sides of the fabric. Try to put similar earthy colors next to each other— putting complementary colors next to one another may result in muddied brown shades. Allow project to set for 6-8 hours Once everything is covered in dye, wrap in a plastic or place in a sealed container and allow the fabric to set for 6-8 hours or overnight. Reveal your tie dye designs Once the dye has set, cut the rubber bands, rinse, wash in cool water with a little laundry detergent, dry, and reveal! Take a moment to admire how the earthy colors come through on your tie-dye pillows. Cut fabric for color block pillows Now it’s time to do some color blocking! Iron your tie-dyed fabric if necessary, then cut the dimensions of your fabric to fit nicely over your pillow, leaving a ¼ inch seam allowance on all 4 sides. Cut a total of 3 pieces per pillow – 1 large piece for the front and 2 for the back to create a “back flap.” This allows you to make a pillow cover without a zipper! Sew and display your color block pillows! Sew the fabric together for each pillow case, then put them on your pillows! These color block pillows with nature-inspired tie dye make a great display for any season. How are you using natural earthy colors for your tie-dye creations?
