15 Professional Spray Paint Tips from COLORSHOT

15 Professional Spray Paint Tips from COLORSHOT

Whether you’re just starting out on your DIY journey or you’re a project flipping pro, you’ll want to make sure you’re making the most out of each can of COLORSHOT Premium Spray Paint! Check out our 15 professional spray paint tips and learn how to spray paint like a pro. What you need: - COLORSHOT Premium Spray PaintsSpray Paint Tip #1: Spray Paint Outside COLORSHOT Premium Spray Paint has been formulated without Xylene, Benzene, Toluene, and toxic dryers. These chemicals are commonly found in spray paint and can have harmful long-term effects on the user. However, it’s still important to work outdoors or in a well-ventilated space when using our spray paint! Adequate ventilation helps prevent the accumulation of fumes and ensures your safety. Spray Paint Tip #2: Check the Weather If you’re spray painting outside, you’ll need to be mindful of the weather! Use COLORSHOT when temperature is between 50°F (10°C) and 90°F (32°C) and humidity does not exceed 70% to ensure proper drying. Avoid spray painting in windy or dusty conditions— the spray paint will blow all over the place and unsightly dust particles will stick to your painted project! Spray Paint Tip #3: Dress Appropriately Another solid spray paint tip is to dress appropriately for your project! Wear apron and clothes that you don’t mind getting a little paint on when working with COLORSHOT Premium Spray Paint. Some DIYers also prefer to also wear gloves and a mask for extra protection from overspray. Spray Paint Tip #4: Protect your Work Area This spray paint tip is key to making sure you don’t get paint where you don’t want it! You should always cover your work area with a drop cloth, tarp, or other surface cover to protect the area from overspray. Try reusing old pieces of cardboard for smaller projects or a disposable plastic tablecloth for larger projects. Spray Paint Tip #5: Prepare the Surface This spray paint tip is key to making sure you don’t get paint where you don’t want it! You should always cover your work area with a drop cloth, tarp, or other surface cover to protect the area from overspray. Try reusing old pieces of cardboard for smaller projects or a disposable plastic tablecloth for larger projects. Spray Paint Tip #6: Know your Spray Paint It’s important to know what you want from your spray paint when choosing which brand to use for your project. We might be biased, but we think COLORSHOT is one of the best spray paints out there! All COLORSHOT Premium Spray Paints have a paint and primer premium-quality formula for durable, long-lasting coverage. COLORSHOT’s eco-conscious formula dries fast without the use of toxic drying chemicals, and the easy-to-grip slim can offers a more comfortable spray painting experience. “Something awesome about COLORSHOT is their huge assortment of paint colors,” says Kelly Ballard from CityGirl Meets FarmBoy. “There are so many options to try out!” Spray Paint Tip #7: Use Primer Our premium-quality spray paint formula includes paint and primer in one for beautiful coverage from every can, but we still recommend using primer for some colors and surfaces to maximize color vibrancy and adhesion. While not every project requires a primer, it can be particularly beneficial when painting surfaces that are porous, uneven, or have a different color or texture. Using COLORSHOT White Primer can help ensure a smoother application, enhance the overall finish, and increase the durability of your COLORSHOT spray paint project! Spray Paint Tip #8: Shake Well Before using COLORSHOT Premium Spray Paints, shake the can vigorously for at least a minute to ensure that the paint is thoroughly mixed. Seriously, one minute. COLORSHOT spray paints are highly pigmented and perform best when fully mixed. Shake often during use. Spray Paint Tip #9: Test Spray A quick test spray will give you a feel for how COLORSHOT works before you start spray painting your project! Before applying COLORSHOT Premium Spray Paint to your project, do a test spray on a piece of scrap material or a discreet area of your DIY to ensure that the nozzle is working properly. Spray Paint Tip #10: Thin Coats It's always best to apply multiple thin coats of spray paint rather than a single heavy coat. This helps prevent drips, runs, and uneven coverage. Allow each coat to dry before applying the next one. Apply one light coat at a time, waiting a few minutes between coats. COLORSHOT Premium Spray Paint dries to the touch in 10 minutes and cures fully in 24 hours! Spray Paint Tip #11: Keep a Consistent Distance Hold your can of COLORSHOT Premium Spray Paint upright 6"-10" from surface and spray in smooth, even strokes. Maintaining a consistent distance helps achieve an even application and prevents the paint from pooling or splattering. Spray Paint Tip #12: Overlap Strokes When applying COLORSHOT Premium Spray Paint, use a smooth and sweeping motion, overlapping each stroke by about 50%. This technique ensures uniform coverage and minimizes visible lines or streaks. It’s also great for creating smooth ombré effects and gradients! Spray Paint Tip #13: Let Dry Completely Many of us can get impatient and excited to start putting our project together before it’s done drying! COLORSHOT dries to the touch in 10 minutes – without the help of toxic drying chemicals. Weather and humidity affect dry times as well, so keep that in mind. Spray Paint Tip #14: Use Sealer Using COLORSHOT Clear Sealer can provide several advantages to your spray paint projects! This easy-to-use topcoat creates a protective layer over the painted surface, shielding it from various elements such as UV rays, moisture, dirt, and general wear and tear. This helps to prevent the spray paint color from fading, chipping, or peeling over time, resulting in a more durable, long-lasting glossy or matte finish. Spray Paint Tip #15: Store Properly Always clean your COLORSHOT Premium Spray Paint when you’re done painting! Turn the can upside down after use and spray for 5 seconds or until no spray comes out to clear the valve and prevent clogging. Wipe off tip before storing. If valve clogs, pull off spray top and rinse with a solvent such as mineral spirits. Do not stick a pin or other object into opening. Store your spray paints in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and sources of heat. Do you have any tips & tricks for using COLORSHOT? Easy Paint Pouring Tutorial with Acrylic Paint

Easy Paint Pouring Tutorial with Acrylic Paint

Paint pouring is a fun way to create cool abstract art, whether you’ve never painted a thing in your life, or your work is on museum walls. In this paint pouring tutorial, Elowyn Makes Art will show you how easy it is to make your own gallery-worthy art using COLORSHOT Premium Acrylic Paints. Get ready to pour your heart out! What you need: - COLORSHOT Premium Acrylic Paints – Rainbow Satin 10 Pack - Canvases – desired size and shape - Disposable plastic tablecloth - Plastic cups The most challenging part of this paint pouring tutorial is picking out the colors you want to use! If you opt for one of the 10 packs, the colors all coordinate for easy pairing, but you can absolutely choose individual colors outside of the packs as well. Before getting started, make sure to cover your work surface with a disposable plastic tablecloth. Pour paints directly from the bottles In the first part of this paint pouring tutorial, Elowyn experimented with pouring the acrylic paints directly from the bottles onto the canvas. Tilt and rotate canvas to move paints Try pouring the colors stacked as shown, then once you have all added to the canvas, begin tilting and rotating the canvas so the paints move. There will be less color blending with thicker paints Keep tilting and rotating the canvas to continue moving the paints around. Since they are poured directly from the bottles for this part of the paint pouring tutorial, they’ll be thicker and move slower with less color blending. Let dry flat after canvas is covered Once the entire canvas is covered and you’re happy with the look, allow it to dry flat. Thin paints with water For this second part of the paint pouring tutorial, choose new paint colors and pour some of each into a separate disposable cup. Add a bit of water to each and mix to thin them out. Tilt and move canvas to allow paints to move After you’ve poured each watered-down paint color onto the canvas, tilt and move the canvas to allow the paints to move in different directions. Since the paints are watered down, they’ll blend more with one another than if poured directly from the paint bottles. Let canvas dry flat Let the canvas dry flat once you like how the paints have moved and blended together. Have fun and experiment with new ideas This paint pouring tutorial offers just a few techniques to try out … have fun and experiment with your own too. You never know when you are going to come up with something new that you like even more! Paint pouring with COLORSHOT How are you experimenting with COLORSHOT for paint pouring? How to Hem Pants with Fabric Glue

How to Hem Pants with Fabric Glue

Do you have some jeans or pants that are a bit too long and need a hem? You don’t have to be a master at sewing – nor do you have to track one down – to get it done. This life hack comes from Mark LaFerney at Slumbering Alligator, who will show you how to hem pants using Aleene’s Fabric Fusion. (But it’s not just as a quick, temporary fix: this glue dries clear and holds permanently!) What you need: - Aleene’s Fabric Fusion- Pants that are TOO LONG- Iron- Ruler- Fabric scissors- Pen- Pins or clips- Popsicle stick (optional)Step 1 Let’s learn how to hem pants without a needle and thread! Before getting started, make sure your pants have been washed and dried (especially if new in case any shrinking happens before you start hemming.) What’s great about Fabric Fusion is that it dries permanent, washable and flexible to keep up with life on the go. Step 2 Put the clean pants on and determine where your new hemline should be. Mark it with a pin. Step 3 Carefully remove your pants, turn them inside out and lay them flat. Using the pin as a guide, measure from the bottom of the pants to your new hemline and mark a reference dot. Step 4 Flip your ruler and use it to draw a straight line across the pant leg to represent your new hemline. Step 5 Measure one inch down from your hemline, make the same reference dot and then draw another line across the pant leg. Step 6 Your lines should look like this. Step 7 Using your fabric scissors, cut along the bottom line. Dont throw away the piece you cut off; you can use it to measure the other pant leg. Step 8 Now fold your pant leg inch up (to help prevent fraying) and press with an iron to hold in place. Step 9 Fold up another inch to new hemline and press with the iron once again. Step 10 Now we add the glue! Apply a line of Aleene's Fabric Fusion under your new hem. Step 11 If you like, you can use a popsicle stick to help spread the glue in an even layer underneath the hem. Glue get where its not supposed to go? No problem, you can easily wipe it away with soap and water before it dries. Step 12 Keep adding glue around the entire pant leg under the pressed hem. Use sewing pins or clips to help hold the hem securely in place until the glue dries. Meanwhile, repeat the process on the other pant leg! You can measure or use the fabric you cut from the first leg to help guide you. Step 13 Congratulations, you just learned how to hem pants on your own, without having to use a sewing machine! Pretty easy, right? Now you can step out in style without your pants dragging! What else are you inspired to hem, now that youve got it down? How to Photo Transfer onto Canvas with Tacky Glue

How to Photo Transfer onto Canvas with Tacky Glue

Here at Aleene’s, we think that everything is better after adding your own personal touch! That’s why we’re all about photo transfer projects; you can add favorite images to decorative or functional items for a creative way to make them truly special to you. Not sure how this technique works? Mikyla Creates will show you how to photo transfer onto canvas journals using Aleene’s Original Tacky Glue and sealed with our Premium Decoupage. What you need: - Aleene’s Original Tacky Glue - Aleene’s Premium Decoupage – Matte - Canvas notebook(s) - Inkjet prints of desired images - Disposable foam brushes - Scissors - Spray bottleStep 1 Now we’re going to show you how to photo transfer onto canvas journals! (This same technique can be used on other fabric items like art canvases, quilt projects and more.) For this technique you won’t need actual photos, but rather, inkjet prints of the images you want to use. Step 2 If your image is larger than your project surface, you can always trim it down to size before getting started. Next brush a nice, even coat of Tacky Glue over the top of the image. Youll want to work kind of quickly so the glue doesn't start drying before the next step! Step 3 Next press your image face (glue side) down on the top of your journal, smoothing around all areas with firm pressure. Let the glue completely dry (usually for at least a few hours) before moving on to the next part of the process. Step 4 After the glue has dried, use a spray bottle to mist water over the backside of the paper to dampen. Step 5 Once the paper has been properly dampened, use your fingers to gently buff away the top layer of the inkjet paper. Dont press too hard, as you could risk wearing away the image itself! Keep misting with water and gently buffing until all of the top layer has been removed and the image itself remains. Let dry. Step 6 Dont forget to seal and protect the image with Decoupage before putting your new journal to good use! Brush a nice, even layer over the top of the image and allow it to dry completely. Step 7 And that is how to photo transfer onto canvas! Pretty easy, right?! Didn't these journals turn out so lovely? Step 8 This personalized project also makes a great gift for family and friends! Matching Family Pajamas

How to DIY Matching Family Pajamas with Fabric Paint

Get your beauty sleep in pajamas that are a sweet dream come true! Finding matching family PJs can be challenging and pricey, so we’re loving this easy hack using Tulip Soft Fabric Paints from Handmade Charlotte. Learn how to turn a potato into a stamp and how to use fabric paint to make jammies that are your fam’s jam. What you need: - Tulip Soft Fabric Paint Wilderness 5 Pack (or colors of choice) - Matching pajamas or sweats - Potatoes (large & mini sized) - Kitchen knife - Cutting board - Small paintbrush - Scrap cardboard Before you learn how to use fabric paint to make your own matching family pajamas, you’ll want to choose your colors! You can go with a pack of Soft Fabric Paints that already has coordinating colors, or choose your own color palette from individual colors. Also make sure your sweats/PJs are washed and dried (without fabric softener). Use a kitchen knife to cut a large potato in half. On one half, carefully carve out a circle shape and cut back part of the potato surface so that it sits back from the stamping surface about ½ to ¾ of an inch. For this step, if you want an exact circle, you can trace a circular item onto the potato surface, then score it with a toothpick before carving. Use the kitchen knife to carefully carve out a simple smiley face. Tip from Handmade Charlotte: To make the eyes nice and round, use a serrated knife and poke the tip of the knife into the potato, then gently rotate it in a circle. A nice even circle should form! For the mouth, work slowly and draw a curved line, using the knife to cut a narrow channel along it. Note: Make sure to cut both the eyes and mouth deep enough so that you have enough negative space that won’t stamp onto the fabric in one big splotch of paint. For the confetti dot stamps, simply cut mini potatoes in half! If any aren’t perfectly round and you want them to be, you can use your knife to trim around the edges to round them out. Now you’re ready to learn how to use fabric paint to create prints with the potato stamps you just made! Lay your clean PJs/sweats flat on your work surface. If the PJs are thin, you’ll want to insert pieces of cardboard or freezer paper inside to prevent paint from soaking through to the back side. Prep your paint and squeeze some of each color onto a piece of cardboard (or even a paper plate). Dip your smiley face potato stamp into the paint and wiggle it around to make sure you cover the entire surface with paint. You’ll probably end up with a thick coat of paint on the surface, so gently dab some off on the cardboard and use a paintbrush to help remove any extra paint from the eyes and mouth so you get a good impression when you stamp on fabric. Try practicing stamping a few times on your cardboard to get the hang of it. When you’re ready, start stamping the fabric paint onto your PJs. You can apply them randomly, or in whatever pattern you like! Fill in the spaces between the smiley faces with the smaller potato stamps and different colors of fabric paint. You can do any needed touch ups with your paintbrush and fabric paint. When you’re happy with the look, let everything dry flat. Wasn’t that so easy? Why spend a ton on premade PJs when you can make your own cute set for a fraction of the cost?! Now that you know how to use fabric paint and potato stamps to create fun prints on fabric, what else are you thinking of making? Tag us on social @tulipcolorcrafts and share your creations with us!

How To Use Brush-On Fabric Paint for Paint Pouring

How To Use Brush-On Fabric Paint for Paint Pouring

Wondering how to do the paint pouring technique with Fabric Paint? Check out this easy step-by-step paint pouring tutorial using Tulip Fabric Paint! What you need: Tulip Brush-On Fabric Paints in desired colors - Canvas pouches - Painter’s tape - Cardboard - Disposable plastic cups - Plastic bag - Cardboard box or plastic bin you can rinse out - White glue - Stir stick Step 1 For this paint pouring tutorial, you’ll want to prep your pouch (or other fabric item) by first cutting a piece of cardboard to fit inside to help create a taught, stable surface. Cover the cardboard piece in plastic, smoothing it out as much as possible, then place into the pouch/fabric. Tape off any areas you don’t want covered in paint, like the zipper of the pouch. Step 2 In a disposable plastic cup, mix 1 part white glue with 1 part water. Step 3 Now we’re going to learn how to use fabric paint for paint pouring! Pour some of each fabric paint color into its own disposable plastic cup. Next add the glue/water mixture into each and stir thoroughly to mix. Your mixing ratio is 1 part glue/water mix to 4 parts fabric paint. You’ll want your mixture to be pourable but not too runny. Test and add more glue/water mix if needed. Step 4 In another plastic cup, pour one color of fabric paint mix, then pour another color mix over the top. Keep alternating colors to form a bullseye effect like shown. Step 5 Working over a cardboard box or bin you can clean out if you spill, place your stretched, taped off pouch on top of the cup of fabric paint containing all of the colors. Holding each together tightly, flip over so the cup is now on top of the pouch. Hold things this way for a few seconds to let the paint start flowing down towards the pouch. Step 6 Lift the cup up and watch all of that beautiful fabric paint flow! Step 7 Tilt and rotate the pouch, allowing the fabric paints to flow over it in order to coat the entire pouch. Tip from Handmade Charlotte: If you can’t get the mixture to cover some of the areas of the pouch, don’t stress! Simply pour any leftover paints from the original cups onto the pouch, or any paint remaining in the cup of mixed paints, onto those exposed spots. You don’t want to rotate the pouch around too much so your paints keep a nice pattern and don’t blend a ton and become muddy. Step 8 Once your pouch is covered with fabric paint, set it down to dry for at least 24 hours. Step 9 Wasn’t that an easy paint pouring tutorial? Look how bright and fun these pouches turned out! Now they’re ready to take with you on errands, school or work, trips and other adventures. Step 10 Now that you know how to use fabric paint for paint pouring, what else will you create with this technique? Tag us on social @tulipcolorcrafts and share your creations with us!

Shibori Tie-Dye Throw Pillows

Shibori Tie-Dye Techniques for Throw Pillows

Most of us have been tie dyeing everything we can find in our closets, but have you thought about tie dyeing your home décor? Cushy throw pillows add a cozy vibe to any space you like to relax … why not add some cool tie-dye patterns and colors too? Delineate Your Dwelling will show you three different shibori tie-dye techniques to create unique home décor that makes a statement. Choose your favorite Tulip® One-Step Tie-Dye Kit or colors to match your color palette, and read on to get the details! What you need: - Tulip Wilderness Tie-Dye Kit or kit of choice - 100% Cotton pillow covers in light colors - Pillow forms (1 per pillow cover) - Sealable plastic bags - PVC pipe or other pole/tube - Wax string/twine Before you begin, be sure to lay out a plastic tablecloth to cover and protect your work space. Then prewash your pillow covers (without fabric softener) and leave a bit damp for the dye process. Mix your dyes according to the instructions in your kit. Lay out your pillow cover and fold in an accordion fashion, then bind with rubber bands (provided in your kit) every couple of inches. Apply your dyes to the pillow cover. You can use as many colors as you like, alternating with each section, or keep to one color. It’s completely up to you so have fun! Rotate your fabric as you add the dye to make sure you get all sides. Once you’ve added all dye colors to your liking, place the pillow cover in a sealed plastic bag for 6 to 8 hours to let the dye fully set. This next option is a traditional shibori tie-dye technique. For this method you can use a wrapping paper tube or PVC pipe, rubber bands and some wax string or twine. Start by rolling your damp pillow cover around the tube and scrunch both ends inward towards the center to create lots of crinkles in your fabric. Bind with string and/or rubber bands to hold the fabric tightly in place. Apply your dye to the pillow cover, rotating as you go to cover all sides of the fabric. Again, you can choose any color combination you like or use all one color. Cover with plastic (if it won’t fit into a bag) to keep damp while the dye sets. The last of the shibori tie-dye techniques featured requires triangle folds to create cool diamond patterns on fabric! To do the triangle fold, accordion fold the pillow cover into four even sections. At one end, fold over the corner to form a triangle, aligning the edges. Continue folding the cover in this triangle shape until you’ve reached the other end of the fabric. Wrap a few rubber bands around the folded cover to secure, then apply dye to the folded cover. You can apply it around all edges (leaving the center without dye), or just along the bottom edge like Delineate Your Dwelling. Once you’ve added your dye, seal your project in a plastic bag to keep damp while the dye sets. Once the dye has completely set, you’re ready to rinse. Unbag each pillow cover and rinse under running water until the runoff is clear, removing the rubber bands. Wash and dry each cover separately according to instructions. After drying, your pillow covers are ready to stuff with pillow forms and cozy up your spaces with color and cool patterns! You can even add embellishments to your pillows like tassels or trim for extra personalization. Now that you’re a pro at these shibori tie-dye techniques, what else will you tie dye around your house? Make sure to tag us on social @tulipcolorcrafts and share with us!

How To Make a Macrame Leaf with Fabric Stiffener

How To Make a Macrame Leaf with Fabric Stiffener

In the mood to spruce up your space with color and comforting touches? So are we! Fiber art is a great way to decorate with unique texture that’s on the softer side of home décor, but still makes a statement. That’s why we tapped the incredibly creative Knots and Naps for this easy tutorial on how to make a macramé leaf with cotton rope. Combined with Aleene’s Stiffen Quik Fabric Stiffening Spray, you can create an entire set of macramé leaves for colorful wall art with a pretty, nature-inspired boho vibe. Let’s get started! What you need: - Aleene’s Stiffen Quik Fabric Stiffening Spray- 4 mm single twist cotton rope – desired colors- Sharp fabric scissors - Hair comb- Pet brush- Clipboard- Measuring tape- Rotary cutter- Self-healing mat- Heavy paperStep 1 Are you ready to learn how to make a macramé leaf? You’ll want to complete each of the following steps for each leaf you plan on making. Per leaf, from the cotton rope, cut one (1) spine piece 25” long, 24 pieces 10” long, and six (6) pieces 9” long, for the leaf portion. Step 2 Fold the spine rope in half. Tie a simple knot at the top by looping the bottom of the rope through the top and pulling to tighten. Leave a 1.5 loop at the top for the hanger. Attach spine to clipboard. Step 3 Fold a strand of 10 rope in half and place underneath the spine piece clipped to the board. Step 4 Use a “reverse lark’s head knot” by taking the ends of the rope and pulling over the top of the spine piece and threading through the loop on the other side. Step 5 Continue to pull the ends through the loop to tighten and create a knot. Push towards the top. Step 6 Repeat this process with the additional 10 strands of rope, alternating sides. Step 7 Continue to attach and tighten the 10 strands of rope towards the top of the leaf. Once all 10 ropes are attached, repeat the process, attaching the remaining six 9 strands of rope under the 10 strands. Leave approximately 3 of the spine piece at the bottom. Step 8 Flatten the rope strands out on your clipboard and use scissors to do a rough cut in the shape of your leaf. Use a pet brush to comb out the rope, including the spine. Flip leaf over and brush out the back side as well. Step 9 Transfer the leaf to the self-healing mat, then use a rotary cutter to shape the leaf with defined, clean edges. Flip over and use the rotary cutter again to trim excess strands. Step 10: Place heavy paper underneath your macram leaf, then spray the entire leaf with Stiffen Quik until its damp. Note: Cotton rope will twist when damp; this is normal. Step 11 Use your hair comb to brush out the strands of rope and reshape the leaf. Flip the leaf over and reapply Stiffen-Quik generously onto the other side. Use the hair comb to again brush out the fibers. Step 12 Let the leaf dry for one hour, then check for stiffness. Reapply Stiffen Quik to the front and back of leaf. Brush and shape, and let dry for one more hour. Check and reapply as necessary for desired stiffness. Step 13 Once all of your macram leaves are dry, hang them up and enjoy your fabulous boho wall art! Now that you know how to make a macram leaf, what else would you create with your leaves? How to Decoupage a Ceramic Mug

How to Decoupage a Ceramic Mug

If you haven’t tried the art of decoupaging yet, you’re missing out! Decoupage is fun to create with, you can make all kinds of cool projects, and it works on lots of different craft surfaces. Not sure how to decoupage? This easy tutorial from Mikyla Creates will show you how to use Aleene’s Premium Decoupage to turn a ceramic mug into a pretty decoration you can display as is or use as creative storage for other items! What you need: - Aleene’s Premium Decoupage – Gloss - Ceramic mug - Printed design - Paintbrushes - Acrylic paint – desired color(s) - Paper plate or paint paletteStep 1 Ready to learn how to decoupage? (Or maybe you're already a pro and just want to make a cool project.) Let's get started! First make sure your mug is clean and free from prints. Step 2 For this decoupage project well first create speckles on the mug using acrylic paint. Squeeze some paint onto a paper plate or paint palette, then dip the pointed end of your brush handle into the paint and dab onto the mug. Repeat this around the entire mug. Step 3 To create additional speckles in lots of different sizes, dip the bristles of your brush in paint, then flick the bristles to splatter paint onto the mug. Repeat around the mug. Once you're happy with how it looks, let the paint dry completely. Step 4 When you're ready to decoupage the mug with your favorite printed designs, first cut out the designs to your liking. Step 5 Next, using a clean paintbrush, brush a layer of Premium Decoupage onto the back of the printed design. Or you can also brush the decoupage onto the surface of your mug where you'll be placing the design. Step 6 Immediately press the design in place on the mug while the adhesive is still wet. Press and smooth out the paper with your fingers to eliminate any wrinkles or air bubbles. Step 7 Brush another layer of Premium Decoupage over the design and the entire outer surface of the mug to seal it. Let it dry completely. Note: Decoupaged items are for decorative use only, and should not be used to consume food and beverages. Step 8 Look how cute this project turned out! Your new decoupaged mugs will make fun containers for storing items or using as a pretty display somewhere in your home. They'd also make a great personalized gift for friends and family! Step 9 Now that you know how to decoupage (or how to decoupage a decorative mug anyways), what else will you create with Aleene's Premium Decoupage? So now that you’re out of reasons NOT to try our acrylic paints, it’s time to get started on your next artistic adventure! You’ll need a paintbrush and palette knife For this acrylic painting tutorial, Leslie uses two tools – a palette knife for building texture, and a paintbrush for brushing on and blending paint for each layer on the canvas. Use palette knife to spread paint For your first layer, use the palette knife to spread swatches of different paint colors onto the canvas. It doesn’t have to be perfect or uniform; get creative with it and add lots of texture if you like! First layer of paint If you’re following this acrylic painting tutorial when making your own painting, your first layer might look a little something like this. It doesn’t HAVE to match though; it’s YOUR painting! Brush a layer of paint over base layer For the next layer in this acrylic painting tutorial, grab your paintbrush and start brushing other paint colors over your base layer. You can brush the color in any direction you like, any place you feel like on the canvas. Continuing brushing on swatches of paint Continue layering swatches of color with your paintbrush. You can make the swatches as large or small as you’d like, and you don’t have to wait for each paint layer to dry before adding more paint. Part of the fun is seeing how the colors blend to make new hues! Determine focal point of painting Once you’ve blocked out the colors to your liking, for the next part of this acrylic painting tutorial, Leslie recommends deciding where you’d like the focal point of your piece to be. You’ll then want to shift your color application around it as you work on adding more paint layers. Use palette knife to add texture Continue brushing on more sections of different paint colors. You can even use your palette knife to add texture as you work. Add brighter colors Try adding in swatches of brighter colors as you build your layers. Add darker strokes for depth Then add strokes of darker colors for depth. Add more color to focal point Add your heaviest concentration of color(s) where you want the focal point(s) of your painting to be. Continue until you are happy with the result! How to spray paint shirts

How to Paint Shirts with Fabric Spray Paint and Stencils

Is anyone else ready for sweater weather? We’re in a fall state of mind here at Tulip, so we’re all about this cute custom quote art tee! In this tutorial, Club Crafted shows you how to paint shirts with Tulip ColorShot Instant Fabric Color and stencils; it’s so easy to create your own fabulous fall fashion! Get out your ColorShot and your pumpkin spice latte and get ready to get colorfully cozy. What you need: Tulip ColorShot Instant Fabric Color – fall colors of choice - Stencils of choice - Paper towels - Painters tape - Scissors - Disposable plastic surface cover - Freezer paper or shirt form Before spray painting your shirt, first wash and dry it without fabric softener. Cover your work surface with a disposable plastic surface cover. (Make sure you’re working in the well-ventilated area.) Insert a shirt form or piece of freezer paper in between the layers of your shirt to prevent any fabric spray paint from soaking through to the back side. Choose which stencils you’d like to use from your ColorShot Fall Stencil Pack and place on your shirt. Tape down around the edges to hold in place, and cover the surrounding areas with paper towels to protect from any accidental overspray. Tip from Club Crafted: If using multiple stencils close to one another, you can trim the edges of the stencils so they can be easily layered. Prep your cans of ColorShot according to instructions, then spray light coats over the stencil openings instead of heavy coats. ColorShot can be blended on fabric to mix colors or create a nice ombre effect! Let dry between color applications. Once you’re happy with your paint coverage, remove the tape and stencils and let the fabric spray paint dry completely.
