Sequin Hat DIY

Sequin Hat DIY

I love this time of year when the weather’s getting warmer, the days are getting longer, you see bright colors everywhere, and all the fun accessories that the summer brings. One of my all time favorite accessories for summer is a big floppy hat; they work great to cover up windblown hair, keep those harmful sun’s rays off your face, and make any outfit look so much more put together. So I thought it would be fun to make a fun Sequin Hat DIY, and you’ll be amazed at how simple and quick it is to make! What you need: Aleene's Fabric Fusion Hat Sequin trim (3 yards approx depending on design) Ribbon Scissors Toothpick (optional but very helpful) Design Pencil Fabric Marker CREATE YOUR TYPOGRAPHY DESIGN The first thing youll want to do is to create your design and decide where youll want it on your hat. (I really dont recommend winging it unless youre a pro.) You can do this by laying out tracing paper right on your hat, drawing guidelines, and then draw your design. You can also create your design in Illustrator or Photoshop and print it out, or print the design at the bottom of this post. TRANSFER YOUR DESIGN TO YOUR HAT Once you have your design and know where you want to place it on your hat, a simple way to transfer it is to tape your paper onto the brim of your hat (making sure your hat is on a hard surface like a table, not carpet) then using a sharp pencil poke holes through your paper and onto your hat all the way around your design to give you a line to follow for your sequins. While I was doing this my pencil didnt really show that well, so I used a fabric marker to mark through the holes I poked with a pencil, then I went back and connected the dots to make it easier to see. ADDING THE SEQUINS TO YOUR HAT To add your sequins to your hat start by adding your Fabric Fusion to your hat along your design. Fold the end of your sequin trim over one or two sequins before starting to give you a nice end, press the sequin trim onto your glue. Work slowly either letter by letter or small sections at a time. I found that using a toothpick to nudge the sequins where I wanted them worked really well, much better than fingers. When youve finished adding all your sequins to your hat, let it dry for at least 2 to 4 hours, or until its completely dry before wearing. NOTE: I used about two and a half yards of sequin trim for this project. Depending on the design you use and the size of your design you may need more or less. I recommend buying a little extra, better safe than sorry. Let it dry. Enjoy your new custom accessory!

How to Glue Fabric and Paper onto Metal: Colorful Boho Can Organizers

How to Glue Fabric and Paper onto Metal: Colorful Boho Can Organizers

Hey everyone it's Jaderbomb here with a really fun project! Today I will show you how to turn ordinary metal cans into colorful boho containers to store so many things in! Just for the record this is a kid friendly project and that is always a plus. Hopefully you will be so inspired and never throw away your cans of corn and peas again, hehe! Let's get started! What you need: Aleene's Repositionable Tacky Spray Empty Tin Cans Craft Paper / Fabric The first thing you will do is choose a container that you want to use. I grabbed some corn out of my cabinet, emptied everything out, cleaned the inside really good then took the paper off. The good news is you they have so many sizes like this you can make large ones or small ones! Get your Tacky Spray and spray a light even layer onto the outside of the can. I actually like to spray a little extra then I let it sit for a few seconds to get sticky. It is good to have your paper or fabric already cut when you decide to spray your container. Below I will show you how I cut my paper. Grab a sheet of paper that you like and and wrap it around the container. This way is the easiest way to see exactly where you need to cut your paper to fit perfectly around your container. You can see I marked a line on each side with a colored pencil, however you can use anything you have handy. If your container is too large for one sheet to go completely around you will have to use another sheet of paper. Just repeat the steps. You can use a ruler to match up the lines and draw a light light all the way across the paper so you can cut it perfectly. Once your paper is cut stick it to the outside of the container. As I said earlier, I suggest you have your paper cut before you spray your can with the tacky spray. I wanted to dress up the top and bottom of my container so I sprayed a light layer of the tacky spray at the top and bottom then wrapped my thread around it. Make sure to do one section at a time! Trust me this tacky spray is the bomb and your thread will stick right away! Wrap until you don't see any of the can. Do this on the top and bottom! Don't forget the other end! Now I will show you how to make a tassel. As you can see I had a lot of embroidery thread to choose from but we need to add lot's of color into our lives so don't be scared to bust out some bold colors. To start making your tassel you will wrap the thread around your hand multiple times like this. The more you wrap the thicker your tassel will be! I like them THICK! Once you are happy with the amount of thread around your hand have someone tie a knot close to your finger then cut the bottom loop with a pair of scissors. Give it a good shake with your hand and the tassel will loosen up and it will be beautiful! Remember there is a loop at the top where your finger and we will use that to pass thread through later! Once you thread your tassels you can wrap them around the can! How stinking cute are these! You can store make up brushes, colored pencils, art brushes or even put flowers in them! I truly am happy with the way they turned out. So Boho and if know me then that is right up my alley! If you want to see another cool project that your kids will love click HERE. I hope you enjoyed this project as much as I did! See you in the next post! XOXO, Jaderbomb Make sure to visit me on social media, I'd love to hang out with you online! How to Glue Fabric to Fabric - No Sew DIY Denim Clutch

How to Glue Fabric to Fabric – No Sew DIY Denim Clutch

Create a super cute bag while upcycling your old jeans and did I mention there's NO SEWING involved! For anyone who wants to make cute clothing or accessories but just doesn't want to sew Aleene's Fabric Fusion is your miracle worker! I even used it to add a zipper to this DIY Denim Clutch. Keep reading to see how to glue fabric to fabric and make your own denim clutch today! What you need: Aleene's Fabric Fusion Old jeans Zipper Scissors Clothespins Step 1 Measure your zipper along your jeans. I used the bottom of a pant leg. Remember; extra seams and stitching add character. Step 2 I cut my jeans the length of my zipper. Step 3 After cutting when you open your denim you should have a big square or rectangle, depending on the size you want. Step 4 Put a line of Aleene's Fabric Fusion along the top right side edge of your denim and press your zipper face down on top of the glue. Be careful not to get the glue on the zipper part only on the fabric side of the zipper. Step 5 Use your clothes pins to hold this seam in place as it dries. You'll want to let it dry a bit before moving to the next step. Step 6 When your first seam is mostly dry, flip your zipper over so you can see the other side, as in the photo above and add your Fabric Fusion in a line along the top edge of the zipper. Step 7 Press the bottom edge of your denim into the Fabric Fusion and hold your seam with clothespins. Let these seams dry before moving on to Step 8. Step 8 Open your zipper. This is very important. If you don't open your zipper before closing the sides of your bag you will have a really hard time opening it to turn it right side out. Step 9 Cut off the bottom hem of one pant leg. Step 10 Measure how long you want your loop to be and glue it together using the Fabric Fusion. Step 11 With your zipper open, add your fabric fusion down one side of your bag. Step 12 Press your loop into the Fabric Fusion and add a little more on top of the loop. Step 13 Press your seam together and hold with clothespins. Do the same for the other side. When your glue is dry you can cut off any excess fabric from the loop. Step 14 Cut out a pocket from your jeans. Step 15 When your Fabric Fusion is dry on all your seams, turn your bag right side out. Step 16 Add your Fabric Fusion to the back of your pocket and press it onto your bag. Let it dry and you're ready to rock it!

How to Glue Glass to Glass : Pretty Mosaic Luminaries

How to Glue Glass to Glass : Pretty Mosaic Luminaries

Oh Happy Day! I can't quite figure out yet what excites me more....colorful glass or this awesome glue! Seriously you have no idea how many times I wanted to glue glass onto glass but I just couldn't find the perfect glue. It's almost Valentine's Day and I wanted to show you a fun project that you can do for your loved ones. I love that these mason jars hold tea light candles, what a perfect way to add ambiance to any space! Let's get started! What you need: Aleene's Ultimate Adhesive Mason Jars or Candle Vases Mosaic Pre-Cut Tiles This unbelievably strong adhesive is designed for industrial-strength bonding on glass and other surfaces! It's perfect for slick surfaces. If you follow me on here or my own blog Jaderbomb.com then you KNOW that everything I do is bright and full of color! I seriously tried to tone it down a few times in my life but my soul started hurting soon after. I was born to be BRIGHT and it shows in all of my projects. I found these pre-cut glass tiles at my local craft store and I just knew I wanted to transform my jars into a fun mosaic collage! I used pre-colored mason jars however you can use plain white ones for this project as well. Trust me once these are covered with colored glass you will forget what color the jar was! The first thing you want to do is put glass and bead glue on the back of the glass tile. I would say this could possibly be a kids project as well but I recommend an adult helping and putting gloves on your kid. Apply them all over your mason jar or whatever you are covering! I didn't really have a starting point, I just glued down the first one and added more around it until it was fully covered. Make sure to let it sit for a few hours to ensure it dries properly. If your pieces of glass start to slide then add less glue. I added a few than let it sit for a hot minute before I turned the jar around to the next section. It's really that simple! How gorgeous are these babies! I found myself looking for more glass in my studio just so I could make more mosaic pieces! For my large vase I wanted to keep it simple and classic so I only added the colored glass to the rim. I think it came out beautiful. You can put a candle in here or a bouquet of flowers. Have fun with this project and color outside the lines. If you don't like too much color then stick to one shade. Anything will look good I can promise you that. If you want to see another cool project that your kids will love click HERE. I hope you enjoyed this project as much as I did! See you in the next post! How to glue beads to a shirt; DIY Beaded Tee

How to glue beads to a shirt; DIY Beaded Tee

Beading always looks so awesome on t-shirts and sweaters but who wants to spend all that time beading? Or pay for someone else to do it! Aleene’s Jewel-It glue is probably my favorite DIY trick, I always have a bottle handy. Anyone who knows me knows I’m not exaggerating, I really love this stuff! You can quickly and easily add beads, stones, and even metal backed stones onto most any type of fabric (even fuzzy sweaters). Keep reading to make your own! What you need: Supplies you’ll need: Aleene’s Jewel-it glue T-shirt or sweater Beads (2 sizes used here) Stencil or design step 1 I put my printed design inside my T-shirt and traced it with a pencil. step 2 Use Aleenes Jewel-It Adhesive and fill in your design with glue. I worked letter by letter starting on the right because I'm left handed. if you're right handed, start with the left side. This will keep you from accidentally smudging your glue. step 3 If you are using two sizes of beads, put your larger beads first. Then fill in with your smaller beads. Really cover all of your glue with your beads. Let your glue dry before trying to remove extra beads. The most amazing part about Aleenes Jewel-It is that it really will hold those beads on. I've used it a lot on T-shirts and sweaters as a quick way to add lots of beads, and you can even wash it in cold water (NO DRYER) and they really will stay on. I think thats what I love so much about Jewel-It is how easy it is to use and that it really lasts.

Picture of Rainbow Baby Shower Station With Tulip Fabric Markers

Rainbow Baby Shower Station With Tulip Fabric Markers

The arrival of a new baby always feels like sunshine and rainbows to us, no matter what season it is! That's why we love this rainbow-themed baby shower idea from Kara Woolery of Lillian Hope Designs. With the rainbow of colors from Tulip Fabric Markers, you can throw a baby shower full of fun DIYs guests will love creating, and new baby will love wearing. Get inspired to sprinkle some rainbow-colored creativity into your next baby shower, whether it's your own or for someone special, with a little help from Tulip! What you need: - Tulip Fabric Markers - desired packs - Light-colored clothing and/or shoes for baby - Rainbow-colored decor like streamers, pompoms and party servingware - Stencils or printed designs for tracing Every baby shower needs a station for gifts, food, and cake, but this one is even better because it includes spaces for creative DIYs too! Unless you are planning on a separate DIY station, make sure you have a table long enough to set up a coloring space or two for guests to drop by and decorate baby clothing. To display the Fabric Markers and give guests easy access to their chosen colors, place them in clear mason jars and place the jars at each creative station. You can print out cute rainbow-themed cards to label each station, or even hand write/decorate them using your Tulip Fabric Markers! Place the baby clothes and stencils or design prints near each DIY station for easy access, and don't forget to add some extra rainbow decor like mini pompoms to your setup! Can you even have a baby shower without a diaper cake these days? New parents-to-be always need more diapers on hand, so try making a diaper cake wrapped in rainbow streamers for a way to make diapers a little more fun and a lot more colorful! If you don't have stencils, don't worry. You can easily print out design templates for guests to use when decorating the baby clothing! If the parents-to-be have a special theme, you can include designs to fit it, or choose a variety of designs guests will enjoy using. Before the baby shower, wash and dry the baby clothes without fabric softener to remove sizing from the fabric, which can prevent the markers from completely bonding with the fabric fibers. Iron smooth for easy decorating when working with the Tulip Fabric Markers. Make sure to give guests enough room on their workspace to really get creative! You can even decorate the space with ribbon for an easy way to add a little extra color. It helps to outline steps for guests to follow when decorating the baby clothes, especially if guests have never worked with Fabric Markers to DIY their own designs on fabric. We promise the decorating activity is fun AND super easy! When guests are ready, they'll first need to select a design printout. Then slide the design in between the clothing layers and center it, or place where desired. Smooth the fabric as much as possible. Next choose desired colors of Fabric Markers for decorating. Tip: Fine-tip markers are better for drawing, outlining and decorating, and the brush-tip markers are better for coloring in designs! Now it's time to get creative! Trace over the designs and color in. Once guests are happy with their designs, they can remove the template and set aside for the marker inks to dry. A cute way to let the clothing dry AND display everyone's colorful creativity is to hang a line of twine or ribbon and clip the clothing onto it. We hope you're feeling inspired to throw a rainbow baby shower to remember with Tulip Fabric Markers! Don't forget to tag us on social @tulipcolorcrafts and share your creativity with us.
