Soap Bubble Painting Technique with Spray Paint
Advanced Tie-Dye Technique: Sunburst Ice Dye
One of the best things about tie dye is that it’s fun for all ages and experience levels! If you’re interested in a more advanced tie-dye technique, we’ve got you covered! Check out this advanced tie-dye tutorial from The Pretty Life Girls and learn how to tie dye using the sunburst ice dye technique. Tulip’s Ultimate Summer Bundle Tie-Dye Kit is perfect for this project— it’s got tons of vibrant colors so that you can tie dye like a pro! What you need: Tulip Ultimate Summer Bundle Tie-Dye Kit 100% cotton T-shirt Wire rack + tray Rubber bands or twine Ice Scissors Sealable plastic bag (optional) Scrap fabric (optional) Clothespins (optional) Step 1 Prewash tee, pinch and pull fabric to create sunburst Before you get started on this advanced tie-dye technique, cover your work area with the included protective surface cover and prewash your shirt to remove sizing. Lay your damp shirt flat, then pinch fabric and pull upward few inches to create a sunburst. Step 2 Bind to create multiple sunbursts Tightly wrap a rubber band or twine 1 to 2 inches below tip of the fabric, then continue binding with desired amount of rubber bands. Repeat for desired number of sunbursts throughout the shirt. For this advanced tie-dye technique, Pretty Life Girls made 6 sunbursts with 3 to 4 sections each. Step 3 Place bound fabric on grate and place ice guard around fabric Once you’ve finished binding your fabric, place it on top of a wire rack over a baking tray to catch excess dye. Pretty Life Girls also created a makeshift guard out of scrap fabric and clothespins to contain the ice. Step 4 Sprinkle the fabric with dye powder This advanced tie-dye technique uses the ice dye method, so there’s no need to mix the dyes with water. Sprinkle dye powder directly from the bottles onto the fabric, making each banded section its own color. Step 5 Cover project with ice and let melt Cover your project in ice and allow the ice to melt completely. As the ice melts, the colors will transfer onto your T-shirt with beautiful watercolor effects. If you see unsaturated dye powder on your T-shirt after the ice starts melting, just add more ice and allow it to melt again. Depending on where you live and the weather temperature, it could take a while for the ice to melt or not much time at all. If the ice melts quickly, place your project into a sealable bag and allow the dye to set for 6 to 8 hours. If it takes about this long for the ice to melt, skip the bag and move on to the next tie-dye step! Step 6 Use scissors to cut rubber bands or twine Once the ice has melted, use scissors to carefully cut and remove any rubber bands or twine.

How To Use Spray Paint To Make Basic Furniture Bomb
We’ve said it before, and we’ll probably keep saying it: the easiest way to give your furniture a fresh new look is with spray paint! (Plus it’s also a lot more affordable.) Material Curls will show you how to use spray paint to take a simple TV stand from basic to bomb with stunning color from COLORSHOT. What you need: - COLORSHOT Premium Spray Paint – colors of choice (Kale and Lucky Penny shown) - Wood TV stand - Cabinet hardware - Spline - Nail gun or heavy-duty wood glue - Drop clothAssemble stands if needed Material Curls had a brand-new simple stand they needed to assemble, but you can also update one you already have! If that’s the case, lightly sand it and wipe it down before painting. Spray paint a base coat of color onto stand Now how to use spray paint to make that TV stand, stand out! Since Material Curls were building their stand, they decided to add fun dimension using leftover spline. If you want to try the same idea, first, working outside (or in a well-ventilated area if you can’t work outside), spray paint a base coat of your chosen COLORSHOT color onto the TV stand. (Kale shown here for a nice, moody vibe.) Attach spline to front of cabinet If you’re attaching spline to create cool texture on your stand, measure and cut it to fit along the length of the front cabinets. Then use either a nail gun or heavy-duty wood glue to attach the spline along the front. Make sure it’s secure before moving on to the second paint step. Apply additional coats of spray paint Get creative with your texture! You can evenly space the spline, or create interesting patterns like Material Curls. Then once you have that set, apply additional light coats of the same color until you are happy with the look. Let dry completely. Customize your fixtures with spray paint Before adding your cabinet hardware, customize it with the perfect coordinating COLORSHOT color! (Lucky Penny shown here.) This is a great way to save on spend by simply updating hardware you already have (especially if you are making over a TV stand you already have) – or swooping up some cheap, basic ones then giving them a high-end look. Apply light coats of spray paint to hardware You know how to spray paint hardware, right? Apply several light coats instead of one heavy coat to avoid dripping and color pooling. And make sure to rotate the hardware so you cover from every angle (it’s easy to miss spots sometimes)! Attach fixtures to cabinet Let the fixtures cure completely before attaching to your cabinet/TV stand. TV stand painted with COLORSHOT Spray Paint And just like that, you’ll have a TV stand you might want to stare at more than your TV! Now that you know how to spray paint a TV stand, what color would you update yours with? Make sure to tag us on social @mycolorshot and share with us!
Fabric Paint Faux Embroidery Painting Tutorial
You don’t need to master the art of embroidery to make embroidery-inspired art! Put away the needle and thread and pick up a paintbrush, because in this painting tutorial, Delineate Your Dwelling will show you how to use Tulip Fabric Paints to make colorful art without so much as a stitch. What you need: - Tulip Soft Fabric Paint Pack – Wilderness or pack of choice - Tulip Dimensional Fabric Paint - Embroidery hoops – desired size - Embroidery cloth - Scissors - Pencil - Paintbrushes - Paint palette - Optional embellishments: raffia, wood beads, wide popsicle sticks, hot glue This painting tutorial gives you an alternative way to create embroidery-inspired art, without the needle and thread! First decide on your color palette and the designs you’d like to paint. Use a pencil to lightly trace your embroidery hoops on the embroidery cloth so you know the amount of space you are working with for each design. Next sketch your designs within each circle. You can go with similar sun, moon and water motifs like Delineate Your Dwelling, or come up with your own creative designs! Once you’re happy with your sketched designs, it’s time for the next part of this faux embroidery painting tutorial! Paint in the designs with one or two coats of Soft Fabric Paint in your selected colors. Little dots make perfect stars if you’re creating a similar moon and stars motif as shown here! Faux embroidery painting tutorial tip: Don’t forget to create some “dashed” linework within your art to emulate embroidery stitches. Once you’ve painted all of your designs with Soft Fabric Paint, this is the part of the painting tutorial where you really get to create that embroidery look! Use your black Dimensional Fabric Paint to create dashed outlines and/or accents to represent stitches within your painted designs. Let dry completely before trimming the cloth and securing each painting in its embroidery hoop. This is an optional part of our faux embroidery painting tutorial, but it’s definitely fun if you want to keep the creativity going! Delineate Your Dwelling decided to accent her hoop frames with different natural embellishments like raffia, wood beads and popsicle sticks. For the raffia, create bundles about 8” long and secure each in the middle with a knot. Next fold each bundle in half and hot glue around the backside of the hoop. Continue around the entire frame. If you’re working with popsicle sticks to accent your hoop, cut off the ends of each stick to your desired size. As with the raffia, glue each popsicle stick end piece around the backside of the frame. You can also glue wood beads around your hoop frame to work in another natural element with interesting texture! We love how this faux embroidery art turned out, don’t you?! No sewing needed!
