No-Sew Rainbow Hoodie for Kids

No-Sew Rainbow Hoodie for Kids

Somewhere over the rainbow ... is another rainbow on a hoodie that's unbelievably adorable and fun to wear in rain or shine! Made with yarn, pompoms and nontoxic Fabric Fusion, there's no sewing required so it's an easy project for the kiddos to get involved in. Our rainbow is featured on a hoodie but you could easily recreate this technique on a T-shirt, tote bag or canvas to make cute wall art! Follow the rainbow this way to creativity ... What you need: - Aleene's Fabric Fusion- Aleene's Stop Fraying- Hoodie – color of choice (or T-shirt, tote bag, etc.)- Thick yarn – rainbow colors- Pompoms – white and blue for clouds and rain- Pencil (optional)- Cardboard or plastic trash bag (for inside of hoodie)- Scissors Make sure your hoodie (or fabric item depending on what you are creating) is clean and dry. Insert a piece of cardboard or a plastic trash bag inside of the hoodie to protect the backside in case any glue seeps through the top layer while you are working. If needed, first use a pencil to lightly draw a rainbow arc on the front of the hoodie. Otherwise, freehand apply a thin line of Fabric Fusion in an arc shape for the top rainbow color. Tip: Less is more when using Fabric Fusion. Applying too much will oversaturate the fabric and cause it to become difficult to glue your yarn to. So make sure to apply a thin line to your hoodie. Measure and cut your first color of yarn to fit glue arc. Press into glue and trim any excess. Continue the process with other yarn colors until your rainbow is complete. Apply Stop Fraying to the ends of yarn strands to keep the yarn from unraveling. Let dry. Use Fabric Fusion to glue white pompoms at each end of the rainbow to create clouds. Glue smaller blue pompoms scattered under clouds like falling raindrops. Let dry completely.

Colorful Christmas Fabric Gift Wrap & Matching Ornaments

Colorful Christmas Fabric Gift Wrap & Matching Ornaments

Published Date: November 10, 2024 Looking to try something different this holiday season? Up your gift-wrapping game with Tulip! This furoshiki-inspired gift wrap uses fabric that’s been dyed with Tulip One-Step Tie Dye for a totally unique take on Christmas. And bonus: the leftover dye is perfect for making matching ornaments. In this tutorial, we will be using the spiral tie-dye technique with pretty pink shades, but feel free to use your favorite colors and techniques for a more personalized approach. Christmas is about to get even more colorful! Supplies needed Tulip One-Step Tie-Dye Kit in your favorite colors (This project features dye in Wine, Fuchsia, and Orange) Protective Gloves Rubber Bands White cotton fabric, cut large enough to wrap your present Wooden spoon Paper Christmas ornaments Instructions Prepare the dye solution. Before you get started on this project, wash the fabric without fabric softeners. Mix the Wine-colored dye solution in by adding water to the dye bottle up to the fill line. Replace the cap and shake for 1 minute or until the dye is completely dissolved. Pour the Fuchsia-colored dye powder and water into a bowl and stir with a wooden spoon. Dye entire fabric in a large bowl, wringing out the excess dye. Place the fabric into the bowl containing Fuchsia dye. Ensure that the fabric is entirely saturated with dye by moving it around with the spoon. Carefully wring out excess dye and transfer the fabric onto a protected work surface. Twist fabric into a spiral and secure with rubber bands. Pinch the fabric at its center and twist into a swirl. Keep twisting the fabric tightly until the entire piece is formed into a spiral shape. Secure with rubber bands. Apply darker dye onto both sides of the spiral, then wrap in plastic to set. Apply Wine-colored dye onto the spiral, then flip it over and apply dye to the back. Place your project into a plastic bag and let set for 6-8 hours. Once your dye has fully processed, remove the rubber bands and check out your spiral tie dye! Rinse, wash and dry according to the instruction guide. Place your present in the center of the fabric at a 45-degree angle Once you’re done tie dyeing, it’s time to get wrapping! To get started, lay the fabric flat and place your present in the center of the fabric at a 45-degree angle. Fold one corner of the wrap across the gift, then the other. Fold one corner of the wrap across the gift, then the other, tucking the excess underneath if necessary. Pull the other two corners together and tie into a double knot. Pull the remaining two corners of the wrap together and tie into a double knot and add a gift tag for an extra-personalized touch. Your furokishi-inspired wrap is now complete! This reusable fabric gift wrap is a great eco-friendly alternative to paper gift wrap. Try using a variety of techniques and dyes for a colorful Christmas! Dip paper ornaments into dye and allow to dry completely. Don’t ditch that extra dye—use it for custom dip-dyed ornaments! Transfer the remaining dye into small bowls, then dip paper ornaments into the dye. Allow them to dry completely on a wire or plastic rack so that excess dye doesn’t pool. That’s it! Your matching ornaments are now ready for the tree. What other tie-dye techniques will you try for the holiday season? Show us your colorful crafts on social @TulipColorCrafts!

No-Sew Halloween DIY: Raincloud & Rainbow Costume

Embrace the magic of the Halloween season with a whimsical costume! This no-sew Halloween DIY from Oh Yay Studio will show you how to be a rainbow in someone else’s cloud— literally! Learn how to create a raincloud and rainbow costume with Aleene’s Insta-Fuse Fabric Fusion and get ready for another creative Halloween. What you need: Aleene’s Insta-Fuse Fabric Fusion 1 ½ - 3 yards of white fabric Fabric in rainbow colors Blue fabric Iron + ironing board 10” foam disc Headband Polyester fiberfill Ribbon Scissors Paper Pencil Step 1 Step 1 Cut out the clouds and straps To start this Halloween DIY, measure your body and cut out the clouds from fabric. Cut the width of your white fabric in half so that you have 2 long strips, then fold each piece in half width wise. You will use one long folded piece for the front and one for the back. Measure and cut the over-the-shoulder straps and some tie straps for the side of the body. For this kids’ costume, Oh Yay Studio cut 2 of the shoulder straps about 15” and 4 of the side straps about 8” long. Step 2 Step 2 Glue cloud together Glue your Halloween DIY costume together with Aleenes Insta-Fuse Fabric Fusion! Begin by running a bead of glue along the outer edge of the cloud. To activate the adhesive, set your iron to high and iron the glued area in circular motions for 30 seconds. Be sure to keep a close eye on your project when ironing to prevent scorching. Flip and repeat on the backside. Pull on the fabric to test the bond and repeat ironing if necessary. Step 3 Step 3 Alternate gluing and stuffing Repeat ironing and gluing as you stuff the cloud with polyester fiberfill. Work from left to right and apply Insta-Fuse Fabric Fusion in semi-circles across the fabric to give your Halloween DIY fluffy, cloud-like dimension. Be sure to add the ends of both of your straps along the top of the cloud and the 2 sides straps along the sides. Step 4 Step 4 Repeat and attach clouds Repeat steps 2 and 3 to glue and fill your second cloud. Attach the two clouds together through the top straps. Step 5 Step 5 Cut and prep raindrops Next, make some raindrops for your Halloween DIY costume. Cut varying lengths of ribbon, then cut twice as many raindrop shapes from blue fabric. Apply Insta-Fuse Fabric Fusion and ribbon to one raindrop and place another raindrop on top. Iron to secure, then flip and repeat. Step 6 Step 6 Attach raindrops Use Insta-Fuse Fabric Fusion to attach the raindrop strands to the inside of the rainclouds, ironing to secure into place. Attach the raindrops on both the front and back pieces to create a skirt of droplets for your Halloween DIY. This will give the illusion of raindrops falling from your cloud! Step 7 Step 7 Prepare the rainbow template This Halloween DIY wouldn't be complete without a rainbow costume headpiece! Prepare your rainbow by cutting a 10 foam circle in half. Create a template by tracing the half circle onto a piece of paper, then measure and draw 7 concentric arches onto the template. Step 8 Step 8 Cut rainbow colors from fabric Cut a strip of red fabric a 1/4 wider than the foam disc for your rainbow costume headpiece. Use your template to cut out the outer most half circle out of red fabric. Remember to cut two of every color one for the front and one for the back of the rainbow. Then cut off the first arch on the paper template and trace a slightly smaller arch onto the next color. Repeat this process with all the colors of your rainbow! Step 9 Step 9 Assemble the rainbow Once you've cut out all the colors, assemble your rainbow costume headpiece by gluing and ironing as you layer the colors together. Step 11 Step 11 Complete the rainbow This Halloween DIY is almost complete! Add the foam disc to your rainbow and secure into place with more glue and fabric. Glue and iron the rainbow onto your headband to complete the rainbow costume headpiece! Step 12 Step 12 Assemble the raincloud and rainbow costume The best part about this no-sew Halloween DIY is that you dont need to wait for the fabric glue to dry just slip the costume over your head and tie the sides together! Pair this rainbow costume with a cute umbrella and rain boots for a whimsical take on Halloween. This raincloud and rainbow costume is a breeze to make thanks to Aleenes Insta-Fuse Fabric Fusion! Spring into the Easter season with a cute new craft! Spruce up your kids’ Easter baskets this year with this super simple tutorial from Oh Yay Studio. Learn how to use Aleene’s Fabric Fusion Felt Adhesive with felt to create colorful flowers and personalized pennants, then adorn your DIY Easter baskets! This easy flower craft is a great way to add a custom touch to your Easter goodies! What you need: Aleene’s Fabric Fusion Glue Felt, assorted spring colors Pencil + scrap paper Wooden skewer Easter basket Scissors Step 1 Step 1: Cut textured spirals to create felt flowers Pick out a few colors and use scissors to cut out your felt flowers and foliage. Create flowers by cutting a circle out of the felt, then cut a spiral inward. Get creative and add texture to your felt flower petals by cutting the outer edge to be wavy, scalloped, fringed, or extra bumpy! If desired, cut fine fringes into a strip of felt, leaving the bottom edge intact, to create stamens for your flowers. Step 2 Step 2: Apply fabric glue and roll felt creating flowers Run a bead of Aleene’s Fabric Fusion Felt Adhesive along the straight edge of the spiral of your flowers. Starting at the center, roll the felt into a spiral to create blooming felt flowers! Do the same for any stamens and glue to the center of the flower to create extra texture. Repeat this process with until you have a beautiful bouquet of felt flowers! Step 3 Step 3: Add dimension by pinching felt together Add dimension to any felt leaves by applying a bead of glue at the bottom and pinching to create a fold. This step is optional, but it adds so much more life to this felt flower craft! Step 4 Step 4: Create pennants for DIY Easter basket While your felt flowers are drying, start creating some personalized pennants! Cut an elongated triangle out of felt, then use a pencil and scrap paper to sketch out the measurements of each letter of your little ones’ names. Apply glue to the back of each letter and press onto the pennant to secure. Glue a skewer or wooden dowel to the back of the pennant along the short edge, then fold the felt over to wrap around the skewer. Customize your pennants with any additional embellishments as desired. Step 5 Step 5: Glue felt flowers onto baskets Now it’s time to adorn your DIY Easter basket! Map out the placement of felt flowers before you start gluing them down. Once you’ve decided what goes where, apply a bit of glue to the back of each flower and press into place. Have fun with the flower placement to make a truly unique DIY Easter basket! Step 6 Step 6: Fill DIY Easter baskets with goodies Once all the felt flowers are applied, allow your DIY Easter basket to dry completely before filling with eggs and other Easter goodies. Place the personalized pennant in the basket and get ready to gift your kids an adorable Easter basket that they’ll never forget! Sweeten your accessories with a cute donut tote that's easy to make and easy on the eyes! Craft Box Girls will show you how to add a delectable touch to a simple tote bag using felt, Puffy Paint and Aleene's Fabric Fusion. What You Need Puffy 3D Paint Aleene's Fabric Fusion Tote bag Felt in desired colors Scissors Letter stencils Pencil Trim in desired color Scratch paper Tape Circular items for tracing Step 1 For this easy project, you don't need to track down a special pattern — you can make a circle with a center cutout by tracing any circular items onto a piece of scratch paper and cutting it out. For the frosting, use whatever circular item you traced for the center of the donut, and just make a wavy line for the outer edges of the frosting. Step 2 Once you have your patterns created, use a pencil to trace them onto felt, then cut out. Iron your tote so it's nice and smooth before gluing the pieces in place. Step 3 Use Fabric Fusion to glue your large circle onto the center of your tote, then glue the frosting piece on top of the circle. Step 4 Next decide what you want your tote quote to say and cut out the letter stencils needed. Step 5 Arrange the letter stencils around the donut and tape down to help hold in place. Step 6 Use your pencil to lightly trace the letters onto the tote bag, using the stencils as a guide. Step 7 Remove the letter stencils and get ready to paint! Step 8 Working from the top of the tote down (so you don't run the risk of smearing paint by working in different directions), outline your lettering and donut with Puffy Paints in whatever colors you like! Step 9 Don't forget to add sprinkles to your donut! Step 10 Add a finishing touch to your tote by gluing vibrant trim across the top edge. Let the tote dry flat until the glue and paint are completely dry. Step 11 Is anyone else craving something sweet right now?

Easy DIY Glitter Fashion Ideas

Easy DIY Glitter Fashion Ideas

Glitter is everywhere right now on faces, in beards, and even covering booties (and no, we're not talking about toddler footwear). The easiest way to show off a bit of bling, though, is by decorating your clothing and accessories. Not only will you be of the moment with your bedazzled apparel, but you'll be giving new life to your t-shirts, jeans, hats, and shoes. All you need is fabric glue, glitter or rhinestones, and your creativity. Here are 3 easy DIY glitter fashion ideas. Clothes You can easily add sparkle to just about any of your clothes. Use a stencil to create a personalized quote or design on your T-shirt or jacket, or pattern your items with your own freehand artwork. Another quick and easy idea is to use glitter and glitter glue to enhance your jeans with a bedazzled pocket. Simply apply an adhesive like Aleene's OK to Wash It Glue to your clothing item, sprinkle with glitter, and wait about 24 hours for the glue to dry. (As with all glue projects for clothes, make sure you place a sheet of cardboard, plastic, old magazine, or other waterproof barrier inside the clothing so the glue doesn't soak through and glue both layers of your item together.) Accessories Glitter your entire handbag with leather glue and you'll definitely get noticed. Or add small embellishments with a few dashes of colorful sparkle and spray adhesive. Your imagination's the limit when it comes to what to glitter. And if you're about to graduate, check out how to glitter your graduation cap for a look you will never forget. Shoes Go big or go bigger either way, adding glitter to your shoes will make a total statement. You can give your sneakers a complete glitter makeover or upgrade your sandals with one or more glittery straps. For fancier shoes, cover your heels in sequins, or make like the protagonist of Paul Simon's song Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes with, yes, glitter on the soles of your shoes.

This tutorial from Craft Box Girls will show you how to make a fabulous patriotic wreath that’s perfect for showing off your love for all things Americana. This simple project comes together with a little help from Aleene’s Quick Dry Fabric Fusion and Tulip ColorShot Fabric Spray Paint! What you need: Aleene’s Quick Dry Fabric Fusion Tulip ColorShot Fabric Spray Paint (Red, Blue) Faux flowers Rectangular wooden door sign Step 1 Before you get started on this project, clean your wooden door sign from any dust and debris. Place your flowers on the board to count how many will fit on your patriotic wreath. Set aside the flowers that will be spray painted. Step 2 Now it’s time to paint the flowers for your patriotic wreath! Be sure to cover your work surface to protect from overspray. Shake can well for at least 1 minute, then hold can 6-8" from your flowers and spray with smooth, even strokes. Shake often during use. Apply one light coat at a time, waiting 5 minutes between coats. Remember, several light coats are better than one heavy coat! Step 3 Repeat with the flowers you set aside to be painted blue. Allow all of your spray painted flowers to dry for at least 30 minutes. Step 4 Finally, it’s time to assemble your patriotic wreath! Apply a small amount of Aleene’s Quick Dry Fabric Fusion to each flower before placing it onto your wooden door sign. Press and hold firmly for a few seconds to secure. Continue to glue your flowers onto the board, with a block of blue in one corner for the “stars” and alternating rows of white and red flowers for the “stripes.” Once the glue has dried completely, your door décor is ready to display! No-Sew Fringe Clothing DIY with Fabric Glue

No-Sew Fringe Clothing DIY with Fabric Glue

Fringe accents are back in a big way, and we’re all about this fun textured trend. From handbags to denim jackets, shirts and home décor, adding fringe to your fabrics is so easy, and you don’t have to know how to sew to make it happen. In this clothing DIY, Annie Papi will show you how to glue fringe to fabric using the Aleene’s Fabric Fusion Dual-Ended Glue Pen! What you need: - Aleene’s Fabric Fusion Dual-Ended Glue Pen - Button-up shirt or desired fabric item - Fringe trim - Scissors - ClothespinsStep 1 If your fabric item is washable (like clothing), make sure it’s been washed and dried without fabric softener before getting started. You’ll want to ensure that anything that could prevent the glue from properly adhering to the fabric has been washed away! Step 2 This clothing DIY really is as easy as gluing fringe trim onto a shirt, skirt, jacket or other item! Measure and cut the length of fringe trim youll need depending on where you will be gluing it. Annie wanted to run fringe across the entire back of her shirt, as well as along the edges of the front pockets. Step 3 Once you have the fringe cut, simply run a thin line of Fabric Fusion along the top edge of the fringe trim, and press in place on your clothing. Remember, less is more with fabric glue. Too much glue can oversaturate the fabric and cause issues with adhering. You can also use clothespins or sewing pins to help hold the fringe in place as it dries. Step 4 Once the glue dries, your fringe is ready to rock. And thats it for this fringe clothing DIY! Such a simple process that makes a fab fashion statement. Step 5 Annie took her fringe top to the rodeo! How are you accenting your outfits and accessories with fringe and Fabric Fusion? Tag us on social @aleenesdiy and share your clothing DIYs with us!

How to Glue Patches on Stretchy Loungewear with Fabric Glue

How to Glue Patches on Stretchy Loungewear with Fabric Glue

Most of us are living in loungewear these days, and we can’t say we’re mad about it. Who doesn’t love being comfortable?! But that doesn’t mean we don’t want our loose, stretchy clothes to also be cute. One quick and easy way to give our comfy clothing fun new flair is with patches; and before you tell us you don’t know how to sew patches on clothing, we’ll tell you that you don’t have to know! Crafterward will show you how to glue patches on loose, stretchy clothing with Aleene’s Flexible Stretchable Fabric Glue. What you need: - Aleene’s Flexible Stretchable Fabric Glue - Loungewear - Patches Step 1 To take your loungewear from simple to simply amazing, you only need your favorite patches and a bottle of Flexible Stretchable Permanent Fabric Glue. This glue was designed specifically for stretchy clothing like dancewear, loungewear, knits and more. So you never have to worry about it drying stiff and making your wearables uncomfortable or awkward! Step 2 Before getting started, make sure youve washed and dried your loungewear without fabric softener (especially if its brand new). New clothing has a chemical called sizing on it that can prevent proper adherence of the glue (and fabric softener can do the same thing). Step 3 Lay out the patches on your loungewear to decide where you'd most like them to be. Apply Flexible Stretchable to the back of each patch and press in place on the garment. Let dry completely for about 24 hours. Tip: If you're working with a fitted garment that is stretchy, it helps to place cardboard or something inside the garment to help stretch out the fabric while you glue on the embellishments, so the glue penetrates the fibers properly. Step 4 Once dry, you can put on your loungewear and take it easy in style! Now that you know how to glue patches onto loungewear, what else will you do with Aleenes Flexible Stretchable Fabric Glue? We'd love to see what you're making, so tag us on social @aleenesdiy and share with us!

Quick and Easy Tassel Rug with Fabric Glue

Quick and Easy Tassel Rug with Fabric Glue

Rugs are a great way to add color, style and comfort to our spaces, but have you ever priced them out? They can be expensive! Save your budget by giving an old rug you already have new life, or upgrading a simple one you snagged on discount with some special additions. In this tutorial, Mikyla Creates will show you how to add fringe and tassels to a rug using Aleene’s Stop Fraying Permanent Fabric Adhesive. It’s a quick and easy way to affordably update your rugs –with no sewing needed! What you need: - Aleene’s Stop Fraying Permanent Fabric Glue- Rug- Tassel trim - Fringe trim- ScissorsStep 1 For this rug DIY, Mikyla decided to layer two different trims – fringe and tassel – for added interest and texture. For your rug you can do the same, or use just one kind of trim, or experiment with others!Step 2 Measure and cut the trims to fit along the sides of the rug you'll be adding them to. (You can do all sides or just opposite sides.) Apply a small amount of Stop Fraying to each end of the cut trims to help prevent them from fraying in the future. (This could happen with any wear and tear over time when moving your rug, vacuuming or walking across it.) Let dry. Step 3 Next flip the rug over so the underside is facing up (since youll be gluing the trim to the underside edge). Apply a line of Stop Fraying along the edge of the rug and press the first trim in place over the glue. Repeat this for all of the sides you are applying trim to. Tip: If you are applying two trims like Mikyla, make sure the trim you want on top when the rug is right side up is the first trim you glue in place. Step 4 For your second trim (if adding), apply Stop Fraying over the top of the base edge of the first trim, or directly behind it on the rug. Press the second layer of trim in place over the glue. Let dry completely before flipping the rug back over. Step 5 Didn't we say it would be easy to update a rug with trim? So simple, and so fabulous, right? Step 6 Were pretty certain everyone in the family will love your new tassel rug, even your furry family members! How would you update a rug with Aleenes?
