Mother’s Day Crafts: Marbled Tie-Dye Flower Pots
Give mom the unique handmade gift she deserves with this super simple Mother’s Day craft! This tutorial from Craft Box Girls will teach you how to make an elegant marbled flower pot with the Tulip Pretty Pastels One-Step Tie-Dye Kit. The playful pastels in this kit are perfect for creating colorful spring décor that moms will love! What you need: - Tulip Pretty Pastels One-Step Tie-Dye Kit - Shaving cream - Terracotta pots - Disposable tray - Plastic knife - White acrylic paint (optional) Before you get started on this Mother’s Day craft, thoroughly clean your terracotta pots. For this project, we painted the exterior of the pots with white acrylic paint as a base so that the pastel tie dye can really shine! You can skip this step if you are already using a white or light-colored terracotta pot. Fill your disposable tray with shaving cream and prepare your tie-dye solutions. There’s no need to splurge on the expensive stuff— the shaving cream is just a medium for marbling your dyes! Apply your desired colors to the top of the shaving cream. Try to stick to only 2 or 3 colors per pot, otherwise the colors may become muddled. Use your plastic knife to swirl the shaving cream, creating unique marbled patterns. Gently place your terracotta pot on its side into the shaving cream and roll it so that the exterior gets completely covered in the marbled shaving cream. You may find it helpful to roll it more than once for complete coverage and more intense colors. Let the shaving cream and tie dye dry for at least 10 to 12 hours. The shaving cream will evaporate, and you can just wipe off the residue with a paper towel. Your Mother’s Day craft is now complete! Fill it with mom’s favorite flowers for a fun gift that will look great in her garden! What Mother’s Day crafts will you create with Tulip One-Step Tie Dyes? Marbled Glow Paint Rocks
We do not know about you, but we’re getting into our favorite time of year: GLOW-IN-THE-DARK SEASON! This fun marbled glow paint rocks craft is a great way to get your kids into the spirit of the season with a little less “creepy,” and a lot more “cool.” 7 Days of Play shows you how to get your glow on with this easy painted-rocks tutorial using Tulip Dimensional Glow Paints. What you need: - Tulip Glow-in-the-Dark Dimensional Fabric Paints - Aleene’s Original Tacky Glue - Rocks - White acrylic paint - Disposable cups - Stir stick - Paintbrush - Wire rack - Heavy paper Before getting started, make sure your rocks are clean and free from dust. Paint each rock with a basecoat of white acrylic paint, then have the kids choose their favorite Glow Paint colors they would like to work with. In a disposable cup, combine 2 parts Glow Paint to 1 part Tacky Glue, and stir to mix. If the mixture is too thick, add a small amount of water and mix. Repeat this in a new cup for each paint color. Once you have all chosen Glow Paint colors mixed with Tacky Glue, pour each into one single cup, one at a time. Use a stir stick to marble the paint if desired, before pouring onto the rocks. Place the rocks (with a white basecoat) onto the wire rack with heavy paper underneath to catch the excess paint. One at a time, pour the combined paints onto each rock. Repeat pouring an additional layer if the rocks need! Once everyone is happy with the look of their rocks, let them dry on the rack overnight. Check the rocks to make sure they’ve completely dried, then charge them up and let them glow! And that’s it! This fun, easy painted rocks craft for kids will have glowing reviews from your crew.
Water Marbling With Spray Paint
Water marbling - a.k.a hydro dipping - is such a cool technique with seriously one-of-a-kind results. You know where we're going with this right? We decided to try water marbling with COLORSHOT metallic spray paints on some hangers for our glam dressing room and we have to say, we were so happy with the results! What a cool way to add multicolor effects to your around-the-house items for stunning metallic marble effects. What you need: - COLORSHOT Premium Spray Paints (we used Primer, Princess Cut, Smoke & Mirrors, Silver Lining) - Wood hangers - Bucket with water - Rubber gloves Make sure your hangers are clean and free of dust. Spray with a basecoat of Primer and let dry. Fill your bucket with water. When you're ready to start hydro dipping, spray each of your spray paint colors in sections on top of the water. You'll see the spray paint pool and move throughout the water; keep adding to your liking. You'll want a decent amount of color for hydro dipping your item. When you're ready, submerge your item into the pool of spray paint. Make sure you are wearing gloves for this part! While holding the item in the water, use your gloved hand to spread the paint around the item for cool marbling effects. Remove the item from the water and allow it to dry completely on a covered surface to protect from paint. Look at these beautiful marble patterns! We feel like we need (want) to go out and buy new clothes worthy of hanging on them. This dressing room is OH. SO. GLAM. And it hardly cost anything to revamp thanks to COLORSHOT Premium Spray Paints in stunning metallic shades.
