Easy Paint Pouring Tutorial with Acrylic Paint

Easy Paint Pouring Tutorial with Acrylic Paint

Paint pouring is a fun way to create cool abstract art, whether you’ve never painted a thing in your life, or your work is on museum walls. In this paint pouring tutorial, Elowyn Makes Art will show you how easy it is to make your own gallery-worthy art using COLORSHOT Premium Acrylic Paints. Get ready to pour your heart out! What you need: - COLORSHOT Premium Acrylic Paints – Rainbow Satin 10 Pack - Canvases – desired size and shape - Disposable plastic tablecloth - Plastic cups The most challenging part of this paint pouring tutorial is picking out the colors you want to use! If you opt for one of the 10 packs, the colors all coordinate for easy pairing, but you can absolutely choose individual colors outside of the packs as well. Before getting started, make sure to cover your work surface with a disposable plastic tablecloth. Pour paints directly from the bottles In the first part of this paint pouring tutorial, Elowyn experimented with pouring the acrylic paints directly from the bottles onto the canvas. Tilt and rotate canvas to move paints Try pouring the colors stacked as shown, then once you have all added to the canvas, begin tilting and rotating the canvas so the paints move. There will be less color blending with thicker paints Keep tilting and rotating the canvas to continue moving the paints around. Since they are poured directly from the bottles for this part of the paint pouring tutorial, they’ll be thicker and move slower with less color blending. Let dry flat after canvas is covered Once the entire canvas is covered and you’re happy with the look, allow it to dry flat. Thin paints with water For this second part of the paint pouring tutorial, choose new paint colors and pour some of each into a separate disposable cup. Add a bit of water to each and mix to thin them out. Tilt and move canvas to allow paints to move After you’ve poured each watered-down paint color onto the canvas, tilt and move the canvas to allow the paints to move in different directions. Since the paints are watered down, they’ll blend more with one another than if poured directly from the paint bottles. Let canvas dry flat Let the canvas dry flat once you like how the paints have moved and blended together. Have fun and experiment with new ideas This paint pouring tutorial offers just a few techniques to try out … have fun and experiment with your own too. You never know when you are going to come up with something new that you like even more! Paint pouring with COLORSHOT How are you experimenting with COLORSHOT for paint pouring? How To Create a Faux Clay Look with Acrylic Paint

How To Create a Faux Clay Look with Acrylic Paint

Have you ever browsed through a store and fallen in love at first sight with a beautiful clay vase or bowl – just to discover it costs as much as your rent? Or is that just us? Luckily, there’s a fabulous faux clay trend right now that has hearts in our eyes, and all you need to DIY it is simple glass vases, baking soda and COLORSHOT Premium Acrylic Paints! Mikyla Creates will show you how to turn a dollar store score into a chic faux-clay display that’ll have your friends thinking you hit the lotto jackpot. What you need: - COLORSHOT Premium Acrylic Paints in desired colors (Marshmallow, Skinny Dip and Summer Pedicure used here) - Glass vases - Baking soda - Paintbrushes - Disposable bowls or plates for paint mixing - Aleene’s® Matte Spray Acrylic SealerClean and dry vases before starting It doesn’t matter what color your vases are, since you’ll be covering over them with paint. Just grab whatever budget vases you can find! Before getting started, make sure your vases are clean, dry and free of dust and prints. Decide which paints to use or mix for custom colors You can skip the color mixing step if you want to use the colors directly from your paint bottles, or you can experiment by mixing several colors together to create something custom to fit the color scheme you are going for. Mikyla chose to mix up her own muted tones with her paints. Mix a lighter and darker shade if you want to create two-tone faux clay vases like those shown in this post. Mix baking soda into paints After you have your paint colors mixed, sprinkle some baking soda into each color and mix thoroughly. The baking soda will make the paint look “fluffy,” but when it dries, you’ll achieve a texture that resembles clay. Brush baking soda/paint mixture onto vase Brush the baking soda/paint mixture onto the vase. If you’re doing the two-tone look, brush the first color about 2/3 of the way down. Brush second color onto remainder of vase Brush the second color on the remaining portion of vase. Once the vase is completely covered in paint, let it dry completely. Repeat with any other vases you are adding to your new faux clay collection! Remember that you don’t have to make them all match; you can vary the colors or simply the size of the color tone sections on each vase for added interest. Mix water into paint To create a speckled look on your faux clay vases after painting, water down one of the paint colors (Skinny Dip shown here). Add a small amount of water at a time, mixing and testing for the right consistency. You’ll want the paint to be just runny enough so you can splatter it. Splatter watered down paint onto vases On a covered work surface, load your paintbrush with the watered-down paint, and use your thumb to help flick the paint onto the vases for a fun speckled effect. Repeat until you are happy with how they look, then let dry. Spray matte sealer over the vases After the paint has completely dried on your vases, you’ll want to seal them with a matte sealer to protect the paint. Work in a well-ventilated area and spray several light coats over each vase – don’t forget the bottoms! Let the sealer cure for the time recommended on the label. Faux Clay Vases with COLORSHOT And now you have a fabulous set of faux clay vases that only LOOK expensive! It’s up to you whether you want to dish your DIY secret to your friends. What COLORSHOT Acrylic Paint colors would you use to create your own set of faux clay vases? Make sure to tag us on social @mycolorshot and share your chic creations with us!

How To Make Glow Dimensional Paint Bracelets

How To Make Glow Dimensional Paint Bracelets

All you need is Tulip Dimensional Paint in bold neon glow-in-the-dark colors, some string, and popsicle sticks to make bracelets that stand out during the day and light up the night! Step 1 Cut a piece of wax or parchment paper large enough to work on, then cut 3 pieces of floss or string the same length for each dimensional paint bracelet you’re going to make. Tip: first measure your arm or your child’s arm to see how much length of string you’ll need to comfortably fit around your/their wrist. Tape the strands in place on your parchment paper. Step 2 Use the Dimensional Paints to create your bracelets! Apply the paint directly onto the string. Here it was started with a thick section of paint along the string to create a base for the bracelets. Step 3 You can add lots of different colored paint dots onto your base. Step 4 Or you can get creative with zigzags, squiggles and other designs. Try new things and have fun experimenting! Step 5 Once you are happy with your bracelet designs, let them dry completely. This could take more than a few hours depending on the thickness of your paint and the climate where you live. Once they are dry, simply peel them off of your parchment paper and they’re ready to wear!
