Easy No-Sew Tutorial: Fabric Embellished Shoes
Designing your own shoes is a total possibility these days, but it will likely cost you a pretty penny! Luckily, there are endless ways to customize a pair of kicks with your personal style that don't cost much at all. This set of fabric embellished shoes was so easy to make using bright watermelon printed fabric and Aleene's® Spray Pump Fabric Fusion ... so easy in fact, that we made a pair for little feet too! Check out the video tutorial below to get inspired to create your own set of Mommy & Me shoes, or a set for you and your BFF or just several pairs for yourself! What you need: - Aleene's Spray Pump Fabric Fusion- Canvas sneakers- Fabric - desired color/pattern- Scissors- Freezer paper- Pencil Remove the shoelaces and fold down the sides to expose as much of the tongues as possible. Lay a piece of freezer paper under the tongue and trace around it to create a pattern. Make sure to leave an extra 1/4" at toe of each pattern piece. Lay pattern on fabric and cut out. Spray the backside of "toe" end of each fabric piece with Fabric Fusion Pump Spray and fold over to create a finished edge. Allow to dry. Fit each piece of fabric over tongue and trim any overlap at bottom of tongue where the fabric meets the rubber toe cap. Spray back of fabric piece with Fabric Fusion Pump Spray, and align finished edge (toe end) up against the rubber toe cap. Smooth remaining fabric over tongue. Allow to dry. Repeat on second shoe. Trim any remaining excess fabric. Repeat process for second pair of shoes.
Sequin Hat DIY
I love this time of year when the weather’s getting warmer, the days are getting longer, you see bright colors everywhere, and all the fun accessories that the summer brings. One of my all time favorite accessories for summer is a big floppy hat; they work great to cover up windblown hair, keep those harmful sun’s rays off your face, and make any outfit look so much more put together. So I thought it would be fun to make a fun Sequin Hat DIY, and you’ll be amazed at how simple and quick it is to make! What you need: Aleene's Fabric Fusion Hat Sequin trim (3 yards approx depending on design) Ribbon Scissors Toothpick (optional but very helpful) Design Pencil Fabric Marker CREATE YOUR TYPOGRAPHY DESIGN The first thing youll want to do is to create your design and decide where youll want it on your hat. (I really dont recommend winging it unless youre a pro.) You can do this by laying out tracing paper right on your hat, drawing guidelines, and then draw your design. You can also create your design in Illustrator or Photoshop and print it out, or print the design at the bottom of this post. TRANSFER YOUR DESIGN TO YOUR HAT Once you have your design and know where you want to place it on your hat, a simple way to transfer it is to tape your paper onto the brim of your hat (making sure your hat is on a hard surface like a table, not carpet) then using a sharp pencil poke holes through your paper and onto your hat all the way around your design to give you a line to follow for your sequins. While I was doing this my pencil didnt really show that well, so I used a fabric marker to mark through the holes I poked with a pencil, then I went back and connected the dots to make it easier to see. ADDING THE SEQUINS TO YOUR HAT To add your sequins to your hat start by adding your Fabric Fusion to your hat along your design. Fold the end of your sequin trim over one or two sequins before starting to give you a nice end, press the sequin trim onto your glue. Work slowly either letter by letter or small sections at a time. I found that using a toothpick to nudge the sequins where I wanted them worked really well, much better than fingers. When youve finished adding all your sequins to your hat, let it dry for at least 2 to 4 hours, or until its completely dry before wearing. NOTE: I used about two and a half yards of sequin trim for this project. Depending on the design you use and the size of your design you may need more or less. I recommend buying a little extra, better safe than sorry. Let it dry. Enjoy your new custom accessory!
How to glue beads to a shirt; DIY Beaded Tee
Beading always looks so awesome on t-shirts and sweaters but who wants to spend all that time beading? Or pay for someone else to do it! Aleene’s Jewel-It glue is probably my favorite DIY trick, I always have a bottle handy. Anyone who knows me knows I’m not exaggerating, I really love this stuff! You can quickly and easily add beads, stones, and even metal backed stones onto most any type of fabric (even fuzzy sweaters). Keep reading to make your own! What you need: Supplies you’ll need: Aleene’s Jewel-it glue T-shirt or sweater Beads (2 sizes used here) Stencil or design step 1 I put my printed design inside my T-shirt and traced it with a pencil. step 2 Use Aleenes Jewel-It Adhesive and fill in your design with glue. I worked letter by letter starting on the right because I'm left handed. if you're right handed, start with the left side. This will keep you from accidentally smudging your glue. step 3 If you are using two sizes of beads, put your larger beads first. Then fill in with your smaller beads. Really cover all of your glue with your beads. Let your glue dry before trying to remove extra beads. The most amazing part about Aleenes Jewel-It is that it really will hold those beads on. I've used it a lot on T-shirts and sweaters as a quick way to add lots of beads, and you can even wash it in cold water (NO DRYER) and they really will stay on. I think thats what I love so much about Jewel-It is how easy it is to use and that it really lasts.
