Valentine's Day Party Ideas with COLORSHOT

Valentine's Day Party Ideas with COLORSHOT

Do you love everything about love? Do you love any excuse to throw a party - especially a party about love?! Perfect, then keep reading this post because it's right up your alley. Valentine's Day is right around the corner, and whether you're celebrating with your one and only or the group of people you heart most on this planet, these Valentine's Day party ideas from our friends over at Beijos Events have us swooning. Why go out and deal with 5,000 other people, over-priced meals and never enough wine when you can stay in and throw an intimate little shindig that's better than any restaurant setting, especially when you have COLORSHOT Premium Spray Paints on hand? Check out these decor ideas you can make in no time with love-at-first-sight effects! What you need: - COLORSHOT Premium Spray Paints (shown here: Stiletto, Cosmo, Farmer's Daughter, Marshmallow) - Chairs - Valentine's Day themed balloons - Charger plates First things first, you're going to want to choose your color palette. COLORSHOT Stiletto, Cosmo, Farmer's Daughter and Marshmallow make a lovely traditional Valentine's Day palette, but feel free to experiment and have fun with it! Maybe you're throwing an anti-Valentine's Day party with shades of black (we see your red heart and we want it painted black ...). Whatever colors you choose, they're going to look amazing. Have you ever thought of spray painting balloons? The result is so fab, and it's such an easy, affordable way to add vibrant pops of color and coordinate your decor with your overall theme. Speaking of coordinating your decor to your theme ... how about matching your chairs to your balloons?! We are so loving this ombre effect Beijos created throughout their entire party, even down to the cuisine! The great thing about spray painting your decor is that you can be sure it totally matches. (Isn't it annoying when your shades don't match exactly? Or is that just us?) Isn't this the most heart-pounding, stunning shade of red you've ever seen? So perfect for a chair, if we do say so ourselves. Of course, Farmer's Daughter is just as perfect. Basically all COLORSHOT colors are. You can make your chairs all one color or you can make each one a different color like Beijos did. (We're digging their use of LOTS of color!) Let's talk table settings for a sec. How beautiful are these place settings? You can add floral centerpieces, matching candies and even stemware in your color palette. Tip: Don't spend top dollar on dinner chargers ... head to the dollar store instead and pick up what you need, then spray paint them to enhance your table settings! For a pretty shade of gold, try COLORSHOT First Million or Treasure Chest for a brighter yellow gold. Seriously, how can you not love a party table this pretty? Happy Valentine's Day from COLORSHOT! However you're celebrating this year, we hope it's doing something that makes your heart happy (like using COLORSHOT for all of your projects).

Picture of Galentine's Day Conversation Heart Boxes

Galentine's Day Conversation Heart Boxes

Valentine's Day is one of my favorite holidays; I get butterflies in my stomach just thinking about it! I love Valentine's Day because I can get crafty and give sweet little gifts to my BFFs. What you need: -Tulip Puff Paint in Red-Heart-shaped boxes-Acrylic paints-Pencil/marker-Paintbrush Start by basecoating the heart-shaped boxes with paint; I chose soft colors like pink, lavender and blue but your color scheme is totally up to you! And have fun getting creative with your quotes! Tip: to make it easier, use a marker or pencil to sketch your designs onto the box before adding Dimensional Paint. I first used a paintbrush to fill in the design on the box with Red Puff Paint and once that dried, I used the Dimensional Paint out of the bottle to trace around each letter. I love how it gives a 3D effect! Let it dry overnight. How cute are these boxes?! Just add candy or cute little gifts inside and give them to your favorite gal pals to celebrate each other this Valentine's Day.

Back-to-School Upcycled Dyed Shoes

Easy Way to Upcycle: Dye Shoes in Magenta Color

School is almost back in session, so it’s time to squeeze in one more tie-dye project for the summer before you head back to school! This project is a great way to update last year’s kicks with a brand-new look for the new school year. Oh Yay Studio will show you how to use the Tulip Tie-Dye Color Mixing Kit to create upcycled dye shoes with one-of-a-kind colors— this kit has everything you need to mix and create up to 50 unique colors! What you need: Tulip One-Step Tie-Dye Color Mixing Kit Pair of white or light-colored canvas shoes Wire rack + sheet tray Small disposable cups (optional) Plastic bag Before you get started on your upcycled tie-dye shoes, wash and thoroughly clean the pair of shoes that you plan on using for this project. Open up your Tie-Dye Color Mixing kit and choose which colors you want to use— there’s over 50 unique color formulas to pick from! Follow the recipes provided on the Color Mixing Chart to mix your colors. Each kit includes big scoops and small scoops to measure the dye powder, plus clean bottles to pour the dye powder into. When you’ve finished adding the dye mixture into your bottle, fill to the line with water and shake to mix! Pro tip: Pour each individual dye packet into a disposable cup for easier scooping! Now it’s time to tie dye shoes with your custom colors! Place the shoes on a wire rack over a sheet tray to catch excess dye. Remove the shoelaces if necessary and pull the tongues out of the shoes so that they are more exposed. Apply dye to the shoes by touching the tip of the bottle to the surface, and slowly squeezing to saturate with color. You can dye the shoelaces too, if you’d like! Once you’ve finished applying the dye to your shoes (and laces), place them in a sealed plastic bag and let them sit for at least 8 hours or overnight. Your upcycled tie-dye shoes are almost finished! Rinse, wash and dry the shoes. Lace up your kicks, and your upcycled tie-dye shoes are ready to wear! Get ready to step into school in style with unique dye colors that you can’t get anywhere else. What custom colors will you create with the Tulip Tie-Dye Color Mixing Kit? If you’re wearing your own upcycled dyed shoes when you head back to school, we want to see them! Tag us in your colorful dye projects on social media @TulipColorCrafts!

Customize Your Child’s Playhouse with COLORSHOT

Customize Your Child’s Playhouse with COLORSHOT

Creating the playhouse of your child’s dreams is just a few sprays away with COLORSHOT Premium Spray Paint! Our super creative team member Lindsay Sherfy customized this playhouse for her daughter, and we love it so much we’re ready to move in. It’s just our style! Whether you’re creating a playhouse from scratch like Lindsay or want to update one your child already has, get out the COLORSHOT and get ready to make their playtime adventures at home extra sweet this summer. What you need: - COLORSHOT Premium Spray Paint – desired colors (shown here: Stamped Passport, Splash, Sugarcoat It) - Playhouse - Masking tape - Heavy paper or plastic for protecting surfacesClean and mask off playhouse before painting Depending on what type of materials the playhouse is made from, you might want to test your spray paints in a hidden area to make sure the paint is compatible. (Some types of plastics might not be.) Make sure the playhouse is clean and free of dust, and remove or cover any portion you do not want painted in the main color. You can use masking tape and heavy paper or plastic to cover pieces or sections of the playhouse you can’t remove. Spray paint the house and let dry, then paint the roof Spray several light coats of your main house color onto the playhouse, letting dry between coats. Once completely dry, use tape and plastic or heavy paper to cover the house portion so you can paint the roof. Repeat spray painting the roof in several light coats of color. Note: it’s better to spray light coats instead of one heavy coat to avoid paint dripping and/or pooling. Paint fixtures and attachments before reattaching to the house Paint any fixtures or attachments before adding back on to the house. Lindsay painted the light fixtures Stamped Passport to match the roof, and the door Splash, a complementary shade of light blue. With so many to choose from, mixing and matching your COLORSHOT colors is a whole new creative adventure! Reattach fixtures to house and add decorative accents Once all playhouse fixtures and attachments are dry, reattach to the house. Now it’s time to add those fun decorative touches like welcome mats, plants, and whatever makes your little one feel at home in their playhouse. COLORSHOT Custom Playhouse We don’t know about you, but we’re ready for a refreshing glass of lemonade after all of this playhouse customization. And we know just the place to get one! Welcome your child to their very own home sweet home this summer with a little help from COLORSHOT.

Rainbow-Drip Tie-Dye T-shirt

Rainbow-Drip Tie-Dye T-shirt

Published Date: June 26, 2018 Tie dye season is upon us and here at Tie Dye Your Summer we are bursting at the seams with tie dye ideas using our Tulip One-Step Tie-Dyes! We just love the look of dripped dye and wanted to combine it with the love of all things RAINBOW! This tee is especially perfect if you have leftover dyes from previous tie-dye projects that you want to use up. It's so the perfect stash buster project to use up all that dye! Let us show you just how easy it is! What you need: – Tulip One-Step Tie-Dye kit - Super Big (this kit contained the rainbow of colors I was going for) – Water pitcher – 100% cotton shirt – Plastic surface cover or tablecloth or just tie dyed on the grass, cause there's really no harm in it and it's pretty much mess free! – Optional: Plastic bag or freezer paper to put inside shirt so it won't bleed to the back side NOTE: One of the important aspects of this process is that you DON'T wet your shirt before you begin. Most tie dye projects work best if you wet the shirt and can absorb the dye, but not this one. 1) The easiest first step in all of crafting history...lay the dry shirt flat on the ground. 2) Next, fill up your bottles of dye or use your leftovers (day-old dye works great for this). Now start slowly dripping your color from the bottom in small and medium drops. You'll get a hand for it as you go. 3) Do the next color in color order. In this example, we went in the following order up the shirt: Yellow, Orange, Fuchsia, Purple, Violet, Blue, Turquoise, Green, and Lime. You can use any color combo you want and in your own order. 4) Cover in plastic, let it set for 6-8 hours, then rinse it out until the water runs clear. Put it in the washer on a light load with a small amount of soap and dry! The final result is so cool!!! Now, the dye might drip to the back and that's okay...it's tie dye after all. OK, technically, it's not "tie" dye, but tie dye sounds so much more cooler than just dye.

DIY Conversation Heart Banner for Valentine's Day

DIY Conversation Heart Banner for Valentine's Day

Conversation hearts are a staple of Valentine's Day for people of all ages, and these colorful candies can provide a lot of inspiration for DIY projects! This unique DIY conversation heart banner made out of felt is the perfect, simple way to decorate for Valentine's Day this year with Aleene's Fabric Fusion Glue and unique sayings drawn with Tulip paint. Try copying popular sayings from conversation heart candies, or choose more personal sayings for your friends and family! What you need: Felt, various colors Aleene's Fabric Fusion Glue Tulip Dimensional Fabric Paint Scissors Red string Step 1: Fold a piece of felt in half. Step 2: Use a template or free-hand drawing a heart about 4 inches wide and cut it out so that you have two identical pieces. Step 3: Repeat with all desired colors, using the same template for all. Step 4: Lay out the hearts in the desired color pattern and separate the tops/bottoms. Step 5: Draw a line of glue through the middle of the row and press the string on top of it. Step 6: Add additional glue around the edges of the heart and sandwich the other piece on top. Step 7: Use the paint to write unique conversation heart sayings on each heart and set aside to dry overnight. Tip: In order to ensure somewhat even lettering, draw the middle letters first. This ensures the middle of the words will line up with the middle of the hearts.

Valentine's Day Henna Jars

Valentine's Day Henna Jars

Henna-inspired designs are so chic right now and can be used to decorate pretty much everything! I love henna because you can experiment with all kinds of patterns to create such beautiful designs. What you need: -Tulip Dimensional Fabric Paint in a variety of colors -Decorative glass jars -Paper towels Henna is so beautiful and what I love about it is you can create pretty much any design you want as long as you repeat the pattern and keep it consistent. So there is literally no way to mess up. I used glass jars because they are beautiful when finished and it’s easy to wash the paint off and start over if I mess up. I like to start by tapping my paint bottle tip down (with the cap still on) on the table to remove any air bubbles; I also do some practice runs on a napkin. I then started me design at the top of the bottle and allowed it to dry. Once the top completely dried, I continued the design on the middle of the bottle and allowed it to dry once more. Finally, I finished the design on the bottom of the bottle. The reason I allowed the bottle to dry in sections instead of working on the entire design at once is to help prevent smudging designs, and it allowed me to easily hold the bottle while I worked. How cute is this bottle?! It's a beautiful way to bring some love into any room.

Check out the graphic for a quick tutorial on the process, from start to finish. After ironing the stencil onto your dress, cover any exposed areas of the dress that you don't want any color on with additional freezer paper to protect from overspray. Spray one light coat of color over the stencil openings and let dry. Repeat with additional light coats until you are happy with the color. Let dry completely and then remove your stencil. Repeat the process on other parts of the dress if you feel like it! You can even accent any pleats or folds with color; just mask off that section of the dress before spraying, and iron any heart cutouts leftover from creating your stencils to create a reverse stencil effect! Look at you, stealing hearts in your stunning new dress!
