Beautiful Dyed Flower Bouquet
Fresh flowers are always nice, but they have a tendency to wilt and fade— losing all of those gorgeous natural colors that we all love so much! What if we told you there’s a way to have a bouquet of REAL flowers that never lose their color? It’s not a trick, it’s Tulip Fabric Dye! This easy tutorial from Oh Yay Studio will show you how to turn your dried florals and foliage into an ultra-colorful dyed flower arrangement! What you need: Tulip Permanent Fabric Dye COLORSHOT Premium Spray Paints Dried foliage and florals Cookie sheet and wire rack Spray bottle Drop cloth Salt Water Choose which colors you will be using for this project! Create a colorful palette with your favorite Tulip Fabric Dyes for fragile foliage such as grasses and delicate flowers. Use COLORSHOT Premium Spray Paints on the more “solid” foliage, such as leaves, twigs, branches, and other sturdy foliage. Dissolve about 1 tablespoon of salt into 12 ounces of warm water and transfer into a spray bottle. While your salt water solution is cooling, prepare your foliage and sort them into what will be dyed and what will be sprayed. Lay your foliage onto a cookie sheet/wire rack combo to catch excess dye. To make dyed flowers, lightly spray with salt water then sprinkle dye onto them. Don’t let the dye clump—a light coat of dye will do the trick! Spray with a little more salt water and allow to dry fully flat. Repeat for the other side of the foliage. If you accidentally apply too much dye, you may need to brush off or wipe away the excess. To spray paint your foliage, lay them out in a well-ventilated area with a drop cloth to catch any overspray and begin spraying each piece with your desired colors in slow, even strokes. Allow to dry, and repeat on the other side. Once all of your foliage is completely dried, it’s time to put them on display! Pick out a nice vase and have fun with the floral arrangement process. The colorful dyed flower bouquet of your dreams is here to stay! Will you be making a Tulip bouquet to brighten up your home? Show us your fabulous florals and tag us on social @TulipColorCrafts!
How to Make Paper Flower Frame with Paper Glue
With all of the online shopping most of us are doing these days, it’s probably safe to say that cardboard boxes are piling up! Instead of tossing them, upcycle your cardboard into a sensational spring craft that also makes a great gift for Mother’s Day, birthdays and more. Oh Yay Studio will show you how to use Aleene's paper glues to create a paper flower frame that’ll keep sunny spring cheer going all year long. Let’s get your creativity blooming! What you need: - Aleene’s Acid-Free Tacky Glue - Cardboard box - Cardstock papers – colors of choice - Scoring tool (or even a pen cap for scoring and creasing) - Scissors or straight edge for cutting cardboard - Photos - FREE SVG Files from Oh Yay StudioStep 1 This fun spring craft is going to help you upcycle those cardboard boxes into something new and blossoming with color! Before you get started, make sure at least one side of your cardboard doesn’t have printing on it. (Or you could always paint it too, if you want to add some extra color.) Step 2 First cut out the frame to fit the photograph you have in mind. You can make your frame any size and shape that youd like. Oh Yay Studio cut two pieces one for the front of the frame and one for the backing. For sizing youll want to cut out the opening for the front piece to fit your photo, plus a few inches of border. Note: You dont need to have two pieces for your frame, but its an option! Step 3 Download the SVG file (linked in the supply list) for the flowers and cut out as many as desired from your different colors of cardstock. Note: The flower SVG file has 3 layers per one finished flower. (You will see the variation on the shapes, but keep in mind that you will need one of each shape to complete one flower). You can adjust the sizes to be as large or small as youd like within your design space; just make sure you are sizing all three layers at the same time so that they can be layered appropriately after cutting out. Step 4 Prep flowers and petals by giving them shape. Using a pen or paintbrush, begin to roll the edges of the flowers to give them movement and life. Step 5 For the stems with leaves, use a scoring tool to gently score the center of each leaf. Step 6 Then lightly crease the center-most sections and fold the sides upward to give the leaves dimension as well. This spring craft is starting to come to life! Step 7: Now its time to start gluing all of your floral pieces together! For the flowers, start with your largest base piece, add a dot in the center, then press the next piece in place on top. Step 8 Repeat this process for each layer. Have some creative fun with this part of your spring craft! You can mix & match the colors for your layers, or make your flowers all one color its totally up to you! Step 9 Save your leaf pieces to glue to the base of the frame so you can move and arrange them how you like before gluing to the flowers. Let the flowers dry before you start gluing everything to the frame. Step 10 It helps to experiment with the arrangement of your flowers before you start gluing them in place on the front of your cardboard frame. You might even decide you want MORE flowers and need to create a few extra. It is a spring craft, after all! Step 11 Once you have the placement more or less figured out, start gluing your flowers and leaves onto the frame. Remember, for those flowers where you are adding leaves, glue the leaf part onto the frame first, then layer the flowers over the top. Step 12 If youre using a back piece for your frame, glue the photo in place on the back piece, making sure it will be centered when you place the front piece on top. Step 13 Next glue the top of the frame with the flowers in place over the back piece, sandwiching your photo in between. Let this fun spring craft completely dry before gifting or putting on display! Step 14 This flower frame is one youll want to keep on display all year long! It would make a great gift for the moms in your life for Mothers Day, a birthday or any day just to brighten their day! Step 15 Aleene's Acid-Free Tacky Glue was made specifically for paper projects, photos and other memory keeping DIYs! What other spring crafts are you thinking of making with Tacky Glue? Dip Dye Ombre Dress
Graduation season is upon us, and that begs the question ... what is everyone going to wear?! Whether you're the super star grad or the proud parent, relative or friend, dressing up to celebrate is a MUST. Even if you don't have any graduations to attend this year, surely you have a reason to dress up (if not, just make up a reason)! Here's one: An ombre dip-dye dress is reason enough to head out and about ... who doesn't want to be seen looking this fab?! And luckily, this is one tie-dye look you can totally DIY whether you've tie dyed before or not (no folding or binding required). All you need is a natural-fiber dress (like cotton, rayon or silk) and a few bottles of your favorite Tulip Tie Dye color. Check out the video to see how easy it is to make your own high-fashion ombre dip-dye dress for any and every occasion. What you need: - Tulip 1-Color Tie-Dye Kit (3 to 10 bottles depending on your dress and how concentrated you want your dye to be) - Natural-fiber dress (cotton, rayon or silk) - Plastic bin - Plastic surface cover First make sure your dress (or whatever garment you are dyeing) has been washed (without fabric softener). You can leave it damp after washing if preferred for easier initial dye absorption. Fill your plastic bin with enough water to submerge your dress for the lightest dye color. Mix your bottles of dye according to instructions and pour one bottle into the bin with water. Stir to mix. With gloved hands, dip entire dress into bin and make sure it's fully submerged. Let set for a while to absorb the dye, then remove and gently squeeze out excess dye. Place on a plastic surface cover while you mix more dye into the bin. Add another bottle or two of dye to the existing dye in plastic bin to make darker. Hold the dress upright and dip the bottom half into the darker dye mixture. Hang the top half of the dress over the side of the bin to keep from falling into the dye and let set for a while to absorb the darker dye color. When the color has absorbed to your liking, remove the dress and repeat the process of adding more dye to the bin to darken. Repeat dipping the bottom of dress into the darker dye, but only dipping a third of the way. Allow to set and absorb the dye until you are happy with it. Repeat dye mixing/dipping process once more, dipping just the bottom portion of the dress into the bin. Once you are happy with the result, you can do one of two things: you can hang the dress (over a plastic covered area to protect from the dye dripping and staining the ground) and allow the dress to set 6 to 8 hours or overnight; or you can carefully lay the dress on a plastic covered surface and cover it with the excess plastic cover, and allow to set 6 to 8 hours or overnight. Wash in cold water on gentle cycle with a small amount of laundry soap and air dry. Your ombre dip-dye dress is ready to impress!
