Step 2 Paint your wooden circle white and allow to dry. Step 3 Spray your painted plexiglass flower with Aleenes Acrylic Matte Sealer to give it a smooth matte finish, and to help keep the paint from wearing. Don't over spray, a little goes a long way! Step 4 After the sealant dries, glue your white circle onto your flower and let everything completely dry. Step 5 Now it's time to add your keychain hardware! Step 6 Wasn't it so easy to create your own faux stained glass? You can try this same technique on other items too! Enjoy taking this cute little keychain everywhere you go! Glow-in-the-dark Halloween Candles Made with Tulip Glow Paint

Glow-in-the-Dark Halloween Candles

Here at Tulip, we absolutely adore Halloween, if for no other reason than because of the wickedly cool DIY Halloween projects we see everyone making! Nothing helps us get in the spooky spirit of All Hallows Eve more than some creepy, crafty fun, like these ghoulish glow-in-the-dark candles from our friend Crystal over at A Pumpkin and a Princess! Follow this link to see how she used Tulip glow paints to turn black candles into an enchanting display that stands out in the dark. What you need: - Tulip®Glow-in-the-Dark Paint - Black candles - Optional: vinyl + cutting machine - Toothpicks Using a cutting machine, like a Silhouette or Cricut, cut Halloween shapes out of vinyl. If you’re great at drawing, you can skip this step and just sketch your design onto candle. The white vinyl does help the paint glow brighter against the dark candle. The paint will have a bright glow either way, but the solid background allows you to use less paint to cover the dark candle. Apply the paint on top of your Halloween shapes. Tip: use a toothpick to spread the paint on smaller designs and intricate cuts. Allow your paint to dry overnight. Use flameless candles so that they can be “lit”

DIY Dimensional Paint Glow Bracelets

Easy Glow Bracelet DIYs

Grab the kids and create arm candy that pops with this easy glow bracelet tutorial from the Craft Box Girls. All you need is Tulip Dimensional Paint in bold neon glow-in-the-dark colors, some string, and popsicle sticks to make bracelets that stand out during the day and light up the night! Tulip Dimensional Paints are nontoxic and easy for all ages and skillsets to work with; it’s the perfect craft the fam can wear when the fun is done. What you need: - Tulip Glow-in-the-Dark Dimensional Fabric Paint Pack - Floss or string - Parchment or wax paper - Tape - Scissors - Popsicle sticks - Drinking glass or jar - Pot for boiling water - Tongs Cut a piece of wax or parchment paper large enough to work on, then cut 3 pieces of floss or string the same length for each dimensional paint bracelet you’re going to make. Tip: first measure your arm or your child’s arm to see how much length of string you’ll need to comfortably fit around your/their wrist. Tape the strands in place on your parchment paper. Use the Dimensional Paints to create your bracelets! Apply the paint directly onto the string. Craft Box Girls started with a thick section of paint along the string to create a base for the bracelets. You can add lots of different colored paint dots onto your base. Or you can get creative with zigzags, squiggles and other designs. Try new things and have fun experimenting! Once you are happy with your bracelet designs, let them dry completely. This could take more than a few hours depending on the thickness of your paint and the climate where you live. Once they are dry, simply peel them off of your parchment paper and they’re ready to wear! To make popsicle stick bracelets, first boil a pot of water. Once the water is boiling, throw in the popsicle sticks and allow them to boil for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, turn off the heat and let them soak in the hot water for 20 more minutes. Tip: boil twice as many bracelets as you plan to make because they sometimes break when you start bending and molding them. After the popsicle sticks are done soaking, use tongs to remove them from the water. Carefully bend and mold them to the inside of a glass or jar and allow to dry completely. Once dry, prop your rounded popsicle sticks on a jar or tube to hold in place as you decorate. Great creative with your Dimensional Paint designs! You can spell out your name, a special word or just cover them in paint. Once you’re finished, let your popsicle stick bracelets dry completely before wearing. Aren’t these bright neon bracelets so fun?! The kids can even make some for their friends to give as custom friendship bracelets! It’s a totally affordable and totally creative way to make some new accessories. Don’t forget to make them glow! Activate your new glow bracelets with UV, incandescent or black light according to the paint instructions. This doubles as a great family craft for Halloween-themed accessories, don’t you think?!

6 Ways to Transform Your Ornaments with Dimensional Paint

6 Ways to Transform Your Christmas Ornaments with Dimensional Paint

Looking for some super cute ways to decorate your ornaments this season that won't break the bank? Whip up some adorable ornaments in minutes using a craft closet staple – dimensional paint! There are a lot of possibilities for enhancing your ornaments with dimensional paint. The cool thing about using dimensional paint is that you can wipe it off if you make a mistake, so it's pretty much full-proof. What you need: Tulip® Dimensional Fabric Paint Rainbow 20 Pack (6) Clear glass or plastic ball ornaments Wooden dowels Add a few lines and squiggles for a super simple ornament. For this one, from the top, we drew four teal lines and connected them at the bottom of the ornament. Then in between each line, we added a colorful squiggle. It doesn't get easier than this For this leaf-inspired design, from the top of your ornament paint 4 1” lines of dimensional paint like the 12-3-6 and 9 hands of a clock. Take your next color of paint and draw a petal leaf shape all the way around the first line of paint. Follow that paint color up with another color of paint, then another to make this pretty leaf-like appearance. You could also slightly modify the shape of this design by making it more scalloped and curved if you wish! Make this diamond ornament in minutes. Start off by creating your dots and diamonds in the middle of your ornament. We made seven going all the way around the ornament. Then we zig-zagged around those diamonds in an alternating color. After you've done that zig-zagged diamonds add another zigzag row to top and bottom. Accent with more dots! This simple ornament is perfect in polka dots! Simply squeeze on the paints in random dot sizes all over your ornament. If you notice, we chose to make our red dots smaller than the teal dots. It's up to your preference on colors and positioning, just make sure not to apply too large of dots, or your paint may start dripping down your ornament if too much is applied. These might just be the simplest snowflakes to make ever. Start by squeezing 8 dots in a circular pattern with the paint. Then connect each dot to its opposite dot! Easy peasy. Swirls are so much fun to make and are addicting. They are kinda like creating loopy C's, G's and E lettering! Change them up by squeezing them clockwise and counter-clockwise, rotating as you go.

Puffy Paint DIY Phone Cases

Puffy Paint DIY Phone Cases

Sometimes it’s fun to change up your phone case to match your style, mood or outfit. But why break the bank buying an expensive new phone case, when you can make your own. Tulip Dimensional Fabric Paint is an awesome option for creating beautiful DIY phone case designs. One of the things I love most about using dimensional fabric paints for crafting new phone cases is that you can make mistakes and it doesn’t matter! If you make a mistake, wait until the paint is completely dry and then use a toothpick to help peel off the design mistake. Below are three great designs ideas using Dimensional Fabric Paint to help get your creativity flowing. What you need: Tulip Dimensional Fabric Paint in a variety of colors. I also used the metallic gold color for accents on one of the cases. Phone Cases - iPhone cases in both white and clear. You can also use a color option if you prefer. Toothpicks Butterfly Design Start with a clear phone case. Outline a butterfly design using white dimensional fabric paint. In rainbow order, start with red on the far side of each wing and create a line of color from the top to bottom on the wing. Add each additional color. As you add more colors, you can make your lines thicker or thinner, depending on how much room you have left. To create the petal design within each wing, use a toothpick and drag a petal- shaped line to the upper corner of the wing. Wiping off the toothpick each time, repeat the same shaped line over and over until the wing is filled. Repeat the above two steps on each wing. Add butterfly antennae and body dots with Gold Metallic Dimensional Paint. Start with a white phone case. You can create one large mandala design or smaller mandala style designs. I prefer smaller mandala designs because when you see them all together the design looks cleaner. With a larger design, mistakes are easier to notice. This type of design would also be beautiful on a colored phone case, using White Dimensional Fabric Paint for the design. Dotted Design Choose a variety of dimensional fabric paint colors (I used 9 different colors). The variety of colors will help give the phone case more dimension. Start with the first color at the top of the phone case and add both larger and small dots. With the second color, try to mix in some of the colored dots within the pattern created by the first color. Continue the steps above down with each color as you move to the bottom of the case. I hope these designs have inspired you to make your own DIY phone cases. You can even mix several of these design ideas together to create new designs. Add dots as borders, create mandala designs around the butterfly or incorporate all three designs into one to make your own customized phone case.

Tacky Glue as Paint Pouring Medium

Tacky Glue as Paint Pouring Medium

If you’re not doing it yet, I’m sure you definitely want to try it. Paint pouring that is! This new trend is showing up EVERY where and every artist is getting in on the craze. But you don’t have to be an artist to try it. And you don’t have to spend crazy bucks to get a great finished product. The key to paint pouring is using a paint pouring medium that really allows the paint to FLOW. And if you didn’t know, Aleene’s Original Tacky Glue works as a great (inexpensive) paint pouring medium. So keep reading, take notes and have fun! What you need: - Aleene’s Original Tacky Glue - Stretched canvas in desired size - 3-4 acrylic paints in desired colors, plus white for base color - Silicone oil - Bowl/ plastic spoon for making glue mixture - Plastic cups for paint colors and supporting canvas - Large plastic cup (used for paint pouring technique) - Disposable surface cover - Large tray or cookie sheet to catch drips To get started, Pour desired amount of glue into mixing bowl, enough to create enough mixing medium for each paint color. Add water to glue and mix until consistency of honey, adding more glue or water as needed. Pour paint colors into cups and add glue mixture, approximately 1 part paint to 2 parts glue mixture. Stir together, adding small amounts of water or glue mixture until paint mix is the consistency of honey. Add approximately 3-4 drops of silicone oil for each tablespoon of unmixed paint to paint mixtures and stir. Do not add silicone to white mixture. On covered work surface, support canvas on plastic cups over tray to catch drips. The first technique showed here is the Dirty Pour Pour small amount of white paint mixture into pouring cup. Tip- whichever color is on the bottom will be on top once you pour your cup onto the canvas. Heavier paint colors will also sink to the bottom. Layer the other colors in alternating layers in cup. Lay your canvas on top of the filled cup. Holding the cup firmly against the canvas, carefully flip canvas right side up and lay it on the support cups. Slowly remove cup from canvas, allowing paint to move freely on canvas. Gently tip canvas in different directions to cover canvas and create abstract design. Set onto cup supports and allow to dry. This fun, creative and colorful project is definitely a great way to unwind and let your creative juices flow. Remember, a great finished product starts with great paint poring medium. And thats just what Aleenes Original Tacky Glue can be used for!

What you need: Printable templateAleene's Clear Gel Tacky GlueWhite card stock paperBlack craft paintWatercolor palette Print out the designs you'd like. We like a pumpkin, skeleton, witch and Dracula! Trace the template onto white card stock paper or watercolor paper with a pencil. Generously add black paint to a small bottle of Tacky Glue, shake and stir really well. Your glue bottle will look like this and you're ready for tracing. Trace the outline with the black glue, it's ok if it gets a little messy or if the lines aren't perfect. Be sure to add your own details, like a foreground and a background. Let the glue dry really well. You can use a white crayon to draw on some patterns or details, once you apply paint, the white crayon will repel the watery mixture leaving the white crayon design visible... give it a try and have fun!

6 Ways To Transform Your Ornaments With Puffy Paint

6 Ways To Transform Your Ornaments With Puffy Paint

Looking for some super cute ways to decorate your ornaments this season that won't break the bank? Whip up some adorable ornaments in minutes using a craft closet staple - Puffy Paint! Now, when we talk about Puffy Paint, we actually are talking 3D Fabric Paint! We make several brands of this paint, but recommend the Scribbles or Puffy Paint brand, which can be found at your local craft store! This pack is perfect for this project and gives you a wide variety of paints to get crafty with! There's also another 20 pack that has iridescent and glitter finishes you might like as well.Another thing to consider before starting this project, is having an ornament hanger on hand for letting your ornament dry. You can buy a 6 pack like this one on Amazon -or- make your own from a wire hanger. Another idea is to get a piece of foam like Margot did for her ornaments in this ornament post, then you poke wooden skewers into the foam. You simply let your ornaments dry upside down. There are a lot of possibilities for "puffy painting" your ornaments. Here's a few ideas that are simple and so easy to try! Add a few lines and squiggles for a super simple ornament. For this one, from the top, we drew four teal lines and connected them at the bottom of the ornament. Then in between each line, we added a colorful squiggle. It doesn't get eassier than this! For this leaf-inspired design, from the top of your ornament paint 4 one inch lines of dimensional paint like the 12-3-6 and 9 hands of a clock. Then connect each dot to it's opposite dot! Easy peasy. Swirls are so much fun to make and are addicting. They are kinda like creating loopy C's, G's and E lettering! Change them up by squeezing them clockwise and counter-clockwise, rotating as you go.The cool thing about using dimensional paint is that you can wipe it off if you make a mistake, so it's pretty much full-proof!What other dimensional designs can you dream up to decorate your ornament? We'd love to know in the comments below!!!!

Floral Puffy Paint Easter Eggs

Floral Puffy Paint Easter Eggs

Here comes Peter Cottontail. He is hopping down the bunny trail. Is your house ready? Do you have those eggs decorated for your kids pre-school class? Do you need a craft for Sunday school? Grab some plastic eggs and Puffy Paint Writers and let' make some Easter crafts. SUPPLIES – Puffy Paint Writers – Yarn – Plastic Easter eggs – Scissors Puffy Paint Writers are by far one of my favorite craft tools. I love them on beads, milk jugs, Easter eggs and more. It is so easy to add polka dots or flowers to any project. I make my flowers with 3 colors. I start with a single color dot for the center. After my center dot is in place I go around the center making more dots with another color Puffy Paint Writer. Lastly, I make a tear drop shape for a leaf. Allow your paint dots to dry completely. Display your eggs in a bowl, in an Easter basket, on a wreath or close the plastic eggs over some yarn for a super easy banner.
