Iron out any wrinkles if needed to make sure the surface is flat. Spray a light coat of Tulip Colorshot Fabric Spray Paint onto the fabric. Do this by shaking the can for at least a minute, then hold the can 6 to 8 inches away from the fabric and spray with smooth, even strokes. This will add a bit of glitter to show through the painted portion of your pillowcase. Once dry, use a pencil to sketch out organic shapes in a flowy pattern. Draw out the shapes and areas of each color, parallel to each other like a topographical map. If you’d like, you can find examples of holographic images online as reference. Use a piece of cardboard between your pillowcase layers to stop the paint from bleeding through. Use Tulip Fabric Paint to paint one section of your drawn lines. Before it dries, begin adding the next color to blend them into each other. Keep moving through your colors, blending as you go, until your entire pillow is covered. Note: You may want to do 2 variations of each color, using the color straight from the bottle and then mixing it with white. A little more variety of color will add more dimensions to your holographic look! Let dry completely. Finish your pillow by adding a few more coats of Tulip Colorshot Fabric Spray Paint, letting dry for 5 minutes between coats. Add as many layers as you like to make it as glittery as your heart desires.

How to Paint Clothing the Easy Way

How to Paint Clothing the Easy Way

Is everyone else feeling those fall vibes as much as we are? We are so ready for cooler weather, cozy clothing, and you know it – pumpkin spice everything! Send summer off with fabulous fall fashion you can make on a budget (Christmas is just around the corner, after all). Norx in the Know will show you how to paint clothing in the easiest way using Tulip ColorShot Instant Fabric Color and freezer paper. You can use this technique for shirts, jeans, jackets and more this fall! What you need: - Tulip ColorShot Instant Fabric Color - T-shirt or other clothing - Freezer paper - Craft knife - Iron Our first tip on how to paint clothing is a pretty important one: make sure your clothing has been washed without fabric softener, especially if it’s brand new. New fabrics are coated in a chemical called “sizing” to help avoid wrinkles and stains, and it can prevent the paint from properly bonding with the fabric. Same with fabric softener. You’ll also want to use a paint made specially for fabric, like Tulip ColorShot Fabric Spray Paints, or any other Tulip Fabric Paints. They’re all flexible drying and can be machine washed! If you’re wondering how to paint clothing with your very own designs, we promise it’s easy! If you don’t have a cutting machine, you can still make it happen with freezer paper. Draw or trace your design onto the non-shiny side of the freezer paper, then cut it out with a craft knife to create a stencil. Iron the stencil shiny side down onto your clothing; the wax will melt and create a temporary hold on the fabric. If you’re using only one color, you can get straight to spray painting. If you’re using multiple colors like Norx in the Know, tape over the stencil openings that will be different colors than the color you are applying, and repeat the process with each color. Remember to spray light, even coats of ColorShot instead of one heavy coat. You can also use Tulip Brush-On Paints or even Fabric Markers if you don’t want to use fabric spray paint. Once you’re happy with your coverage, peel off the freezer paper stencil and let your design dry completely. Once it’s dry, it’s ready to wear! Now that you know how to paint clothing in the easiest way with Tulip Color Products, you’ll be able to be creative, make cool stuff and stick to your budget. What will you be DIYing – and wearing – this fall? Tag us on social @tulipcolorcrafts and let us know! Happy fall y’all!

DIY Monogram Doormat with Tulip ColorShot

DIY Monogram Doormat

Welcome friends and family home with a doormat that makes a statement in just your style! This DIY monogram doormat from Mikyla Creates is totally easy to make with Tulip ColorShot Instant Fabric Color and monogram stencils. Learn how easy it is to make your own perfectly personalized doormat in the following tutorial! What you need: - Tulip ColorShot Instant Fabric Color – color of choice - Monogram stencils - Plain doormat - Painter’s tape - Measuring tape - Marker - String - Plastic garbage bags or heavy paper Before getting started, make sure you’re working in a well-ventilated area. Brush off your doormat to remove any loose fibers or dust. Place your chosen monogram letter stencil in the center of your doormat and tape in place. If you want an exact center placement, you can measure just to be sure! To create the rainbow designs on the sides of your doormat, first measure the sides of your mat and use your marker to make a mark at the exact center. Cut a piece of string long enough to extend from the side edge of the mat to the top of where you’d like your first arc to be. (About a few inches away from your monogram stencil.) Tie the string to your marker, and holding the other end at the center-marked point on the side, pull the marker/string taught and create a half circle with your marker, keeping the string pulled tight the entire time. This will help you create the perfect half circle! Tape along the edge of the arc, tearing the pieces of tape into smaller strips to help keep the arc shape if needed. Repeat the above steps to create and tape off two additional concentric arcs, each about 2 inches below the one above it. Repeat creating the rainbow design on the opposite side of the mat. Cover any exposed areas you do not want painted with plastic trash bags or heavy paper. Prep your ColorShot Spray Paint according to instructions, then spray several light coats over your designs, letting dry in between coats. Once you are happy with your color coverage, peel off the tape, stencil and protective layers. Let dry completely before using. This DIY monogram doormat is ready to welcome guests in style! How will you personalize your own doormat with ColorShot? Tag us on social using @tulipcolorcrafts and let us know!

Picture of American Flag Dog Bandana

American Flag Dog Bandana

Fourth of July always calls for fireworks and fun celebrations with family and friends ... but don't forget to include your furry family members in on the festivities this year! They'll love showing off their own patriotic spirit in stars & stripes style with this pawsitively adorable DIY American Flag Dog Bandana made with Tulip® ColorShot Instant Fabric Color. It's so easy to DIY, you might just want to make one for everyone in the fam - furry and non-furry alike! What you need: - Tulip ColorShot Instant Fabric Color - Red and Blue - White bandana - Freezer paper - Pencil - Craft knife or scissors - Iron - Disposable plastic table cover - Protective piece of plastic (like a garbage bag or section of tablecloth) - Star pattern (if needed) - Painter's tape Cover your work surface with a plastic table cover to protect from overspray. On a piece of freezer paper, either freehand draw or use a star pattern to trace desired number of stars onto unwaxed side of freezer paper. Use a craft knife or scissors to cut out stars. Fold bandana in half diagonally and press with a hot iron to create a crease along the fold. This will be a guideline for your design. Place strips of painter's tape about 1" apart on one side of the fold to mask off stripes. Place freezer paper stars waxy side down on the other half of bandana and use a hot iron to iron in place. This will create a temporary adhesion to the fabric to mask off star shapes from the fabric spray paint. Cover the striped section with a protective piece of plastic (a garbage bag will work, or a section of the tablecloth you are not using). Tape down the plastic along the fold. Spray several light coats of blue ColorShot over the exposed portion of the bandana, spraying directly over the star shapes as well. Note: It's better to spray several light coats versus one heavy coat for best results. Let dry and remove the freezer paper stars. Cover the star section of the bandana with protective plastic and tape down along the fold. Spray several light coats of red spray paint over the exposed fabric in the striped section. Let dry and remove the strips of tape. ColorShot dries flexible and can be washed after 72 hours, but your pet (or your fam) can wear the bandana once it's completely dry! Forget the fireworks ... your dog will definitely be the life of the party in his new patriotic pet bandana!

Outdoor ColorShot DIY Pillows

Outdoor ColorShot DIY Pillows

I’ve been wanting to give my deck a fun update for summer, and these pillows are just perfect for a quick and colorful summer update. I love how vibrant the colors are with the Outdoor ColorShot, and how easy it is to get smooth coverage. What you need: Outdoor ColorShot Pillow Covers Pillow Forms Freezer paper Iron Drop cloth Create your design and transfer it to the freezer paper. Make sure that when you iron it to your pillow cover you will have the wax side down on the pillow. Cover your work area with your drop cloth. I recommend that you work outside if possible. The Outdoor ColorShot has a very strong smell. Make sure you follow the instructions on the package carefully. Test out your ColorShot on a paper or something so that you can see how it sprays. I found that it sprays out in a short horizontal line. Also paint in light thin layers. If you get too heavy handed with the paint your freezer paper will get too wet and it will lift from your pillow cover and you’ll have some bleeding outside of your design. The paint will dry quickly especially with thinner layers. Once you have the color you want and it’s dry to the touch you can peel off your freezer paper and see your design. The instructions recommend that you let it dry for a full 72 hours before washing.

Outdoor Colorshot DIY Basket

Outdoor Colorshot DIY Basket

It’s always fun to have unique baskets to help contain clutter on your deck or patio, or just to fill with beautiful colorful flowers. I’m so excited with how easy it was to create a fun nautical design on this basket using Outdoor ColorShot. The basket took the color really well and it matches perfectly with the pillows I made using the Outdoor ColorShot too! What you need: Outdoor Colorshot Fabric Spray Paint Basket Tape (Duck tape holds best to the basket) Plastic bag Freezer paper Use duck tape to tape off the sections you want to paint. I taped off the bottom section first with duck tape then covered the rest with plastic bags to protect the rest of the basket from excess spray. Start in the center of the bottom of your basket, spray lightly, and try not to let the paint pool on your basket or tape. By starting on the bottom of your basket you can see how the ColorShot works on your basket since it will take the paint differently than fabric will. Paint light coats and let dry in between coats until you get the color you want. Let dry completely for at least 72 hours before using. I love how easy it is to get great color and coverage with the Outdoor ColorShot. It’s so easy to use, my deck never looked better!

Going Coastal Fabric Spray Tee

Going Coastal Fabric Spray Tee

Stay cool in the crazy summer heat with clothing that's nautically nice! Stripes in shades of blue always remind us of beachy fun, even if we're nowhere near the sand and surf. Even better, you can make your own designer-looking threads for half the price in a few easy steps! Wash and dry a plain white T-shirt to remove the protective sizing from the fabric. (This is an important step because the sizing can block the fabric from absorbing the spray paint.) Then lay your shirt out flat on a covered work surface and add strips of painter's tape horizontally across the entire shirt. Place a piece of wax paper or freezer paper inside of shirt to prevent paint from soaking through to the backside. Spray a light, even coat of ColorShot across exposed fabric. Let dry for a few minutes and repeat with another light coat of color. Remove strips of tape and let shirt dry completely before wearing. Now you're ready to hit the town in cool coastal style!
