Custom Vote T-shirt with Glitter Markers

Make Your Own Vote T-shirt with Fabric Paint Markers

Rock the vote this year in your very own style! Let your patriotic spirit shine with a custom-made T-shirt created with Tulip Glitter Fabric Paint Markers. Artist Steffi Lynn will show you just how easy it is to design and make your own vote T-shirt in just a few steps. What you need: - Tulip Glitter Fabric Paint Markers - T-shirt of choice - Pencil and paper - Ruler - Masking tape - Chalk pencil (optional) Tulip Fabric Paint Markers work on both light and dark fabrics, so feel free to choose whatever color shirt you want to rock the vote in. Make sure it’s prewashed and dried (without fabric softener) before starting your project. First sketch out your design on a piece of paper. You can use this “Vote for our Future” design or come up with your own quote art. Get creative with it in your favorite style! There are a few ways you can transfer your design onto your T-shirt. You can simply use your sketch as a reference and freehand your design straight onto the fabric, or you can use a chalk pencil first, that way you can wipe away any mishaps before you get started. If your shirt is a light color, you can place your sketch under the first layer and trace over it with your markers. Go with what you feel most comfortable with. If you want your design to be at a diagonal like Steffi Lynn’s, you can use masking tape and a ruler to lay down lines of tape on your shirt to help guide your design between each line of text. Prep your Glitter Fabric Paint Markers according to instructions, then trace over/draw your design onto your shirt with your chosen colors. Once your design completely dries, it’s time to put on your shirt and go out and vote! And don’t forget to tag us on social @tulipcolorcrafts and show us what you’re making with Tulip Fabric Paint Markers!

Easy DIY Shark Week T-shirt

Easy DIY Shark Week T-shirt

Aside from maybe the week of Christmas, our favorite week of the year is just around the corner, and we’re ready to dive right into it! Shark Week airs August 9th through the 16th on Discovery Channel, and to gear up for celebrating all things shark related, we asked our artist friend Steffi Lynn to come up with a fun T-shirt we can wear every day during Shark Week marathoning. Check out this super easy tutorial and get inspired to make your own totally JAWSOME custom shark T-shirt using Tulip® Dual-Tip Fabric Markers. (PS. There's no judgment from us if you want to wear your shirt all week too. You'll be in good company.) What you need: - Tulip Dual-Tip Fabric Markers or Fabric Markers of choice - White cotton T-shirt - Pattern of choice for tracing - Ruler - Pencil Before getting started, make sure your shirt is clean (without fabric softener) and ironed smooth. Choose whatever marker colors you like for your Shark Week T-shirt design! Sketch out your T-shirt design onto a piece of paper. You can recreate this “You are JAWSOME” design with your own flair, or create an entirely different one. It’s completely up to you! Once you are happy with your shark pattern, trace over it with a black or dark marker so you’ll be able to see it through the top layer of your shirt. If you’d like, you can use a ruler to help you center your design and place it exactly where you want it. Once your Shark Week pattern has been placed under the top layer of your shirt, smooth out your shirt and trace over the pattern in your desired Fabric Marker colors. Color in and outline designs according to your liking. One you are finished, let the marker ink dry completely. There’s no need to heat set with an iron – you can let it air dry! Now that you have the perfect T-shirt to wear for Shark Week, get ready to take your imagination on completely JAWSOME adventures!

Tulip Fabric Markers DIY Papel Picado T-shirt

DIY Papel Picado T-shirt

Whether you want to celebrate Cinco de Mayo with a craft project or you're just in the mood to wear something with colorful personality, this DIY Papel Picado T-shirt is a super fun idea! Handmade Charlotte shows you how easy it is to use Tulip Fabric Paint Markers and paper cutouts to create a vibrant T-shirt you'll want to keep wearing well beyond May. It makes a great project for your little ones too, so consider throwing a creative fiesta for the whole fam! What you need: - Tulip Fabric Paint Markers - White cotton T-shirt - Scrap paper - Scissors - Cardboard Make sure your T-shirt has been washed and dried (without fabric softener) before starting your project. Place a sheet of cardboard inside of it to prevent any marker inks from potentially soaking through to the backside. Cut scrap papers into rectangles, each about the size of a playing card. Trim the bottom edge of each rectangle into a simple scalloped or zig-zag pattern and lay them out on your shirt in slightly curved rows as if they are hanging from a garland. Choose your Fabric Paint Marker colors and prep the markers according to the package instructions. Trace around the paper shapes on your shirt, changing marker colors for each one. Once you have each paper traced, remove the papers and fill in each outline with a different design. Tip: If you look up Papel Picados online, you'll be able to find all kinds of inspiring designs. Have fun and get creative! Once you're happy with your Papel Picado designs, use a black Fabric Paint Marker to connect each row of designs with a string line. Let your shirt dry completely before wearing! Now you have a colorful T-shirt to wear for Cinco de Mayo - and every other day of the year!

Tie-Dye Food T-shirt Roundup

Tie-Dye Food T-shirt Roundup

Published Date: September 20, 2019 We love food. (Who doesn't?!) It's a close contender to our obsession for tie dye, so we started thinking about how we could combine our two great loves: food and tie dye - and then magic happened. Here's a roundup of some of our favorite tie-dye food T-shirts that consequently also make us hungry. But hey, is there anything more fun than snacking on a slice of pizza while wearing a tie-dye pizza shirt? No, there isn't. (Plus no one will notice if you accidentally drop a slice of pepperoni on yourself.) Read on to get inspired to make your own tie-dye food T-shirts! Supplies needed - Tulip One-Step Tie-Dye Party Kit - White 100% cotton T-shirts - Tulip Dimensional Fabric Paint Pack - Tulip Fabric Markers - Freezer paper/iron - Washable marker - Zip ties (optional) Instructions Tulip Taco Tie-Dye T-shirt To make a taco tie-dye T-shirt, first mix up your tie dye with water, following kit instructions. We used yellow for the taco shell, green for the lettuce and pink for the rest of the shirt, but have fun with your color palette and mix it up if you'd like! First you'll want to create your taco shape, so lay your damp shirt out flat on your covered work surface and use a washable marker to literally sketch out a taco shape on the front of your shirt. Then starting on one side, pleat the shirt fabric along the bottom of the taco shape until you get to the other side, then tighly bind with a rubber band or zip tie. Repeat pleating along the top part of taco, making sure to line up the marker line as much as possible as you pleat. Bind this portion as well. Add yellow dye to the middle section and a bit of green to the top part just above the yellow, then add the remaining dye color to the rest of the shirt. Let set and launder according to instructions, then once dry, use a Fabric Marker to draw in details if desired. All you need now is a side of extra guacamole to go with that taco tie-dye T-shirt! Tulip Donut Tie-Dye T-shirt What's sweeter than a donut? Well, not much actually, but a donut tie-dye T-shirt is pretty sweet. And the best part about it is that it's actually super easy to create this donut tie-dye effect! Check out the tutorial here. We used fuchsia tie dye for our donut but get creative and go with any frosting color you like. After the tie-dye part is done, use Dimensional Fabric Paint in a variety of colors to accent your tie-dye donut with sprinkles. Is anyone else craving dessert now? Tulip Pizza Tie-Dye T-shirt Any way you slice it, a pizza tie-dye T-shirt is awesome. (See what we did there?) And making one is easier than you think! Using a washable marker, draw a large V shape extending from the top of shirt to the middle or so. Starting at one of the shoulders, begin pleating the T-shirt fabric along the marker line, doing your best to align the fabric so the line appears straight across the tops of the pleats. Pleat all the way to the other shoulder and tightly bind with a zip tie or rubber band. Mix yellow and red dyes, then add yellow to the pizza portion and red (or any color you like) to the rest, adding small touches of red to the yellow portion for melty cheese effects. (Mmmmm ... melty cheese.) Let the dye set and launder according to package instructions. Once dry, use Fabric Markers to draw pepperoni or other pizza toppings on pizza portion of shirt. Now you're ready to wear a slice and probably have a slice (or 6)! Tulip Candy Corn Tie-Dye T-shirt And since Halloween is just around the corner, we can't finish this post without talking about everyone's favorite Halloween candy: candy corn! Perfect to wear for Halloween or just because, this candy corn tie-dye T-shirt is probably the easiest to make out of the tie-dye food T-shirts featured in this post. All you need is yellow and orange dyes and a big paintbrush for blending! Get the candy corn tie-dye tutorial here, then get ready to make your Halloween a real treat. (Okay, we're done with the puns now. Mostly because we need to go eat.)

Rainbow-Drip Tie-Dye T-shirt

Rainbow-Drip Tie-Dye T-shirt

Published Date: June 26, 2018 Tie dye season is upon us and here at Tie Dye Your Summer we are bursting at the seams with tie dye ideas using our Tulip One-Step Tie-Dyes! We just love the look of dripped dye and wanted to combine it with the love of all things RAINBOW! This tee is especially perfect if you have leftover dyes from previous tie-dye projects that you want to use up. It's so the perfect stash buster project to use up all that dye! Let us show you just how easy it is! What you need: – Tulip One-Step Tie-Dye kit - Super Big (this kit contained the rainbow of colors I was going for) – Water pitcher – 100% cotton shirt – Plastic surface cover or tablecloth or just tie dyed on the grass, cause there's really no harm in it and it's pretty much mess free! – Optional: Plastic bag or freezer paper to put inside shirt so it won't bleed to the back side NOTE: One of the important aspects of this process is that you DON'T wet your shirt before you begin. Most tie dye projects work best if you wet the shirt and can absorb the dye, but not this one. 1) The easiest first step in all of crafting history...lay the dry shirt flat on the ground. 2) Next, fill up your bottles of dye or use your leftovers (day-old dye works great for this). Now start slowly dripping your color from the bottom in small and medium drops. You'll get a hand for it as you go. 3) Do the next color in color order. In this example, we went in the following order up the shirt: Yellow, Orange, Fuchsia, Purple, Violet, Blue, Turquoise, Green, and Lime. You can use any color combo you want and in your own order. 4) Cover in plastic, let it set for 6-8 hours, then rinse it out until the water runs clear. Put it in the washer on a light load with a small amount of soap and dry! The final result is so cool!!! Now, the dye might drip to the back and that's okay...it's tie dye after all. OK, technically, it's not "tie" dye, but tie dye sounds so much more cooler than just dye.

Picture of Best Friends Marker T-shirt

Best Friends Marker T-shirt

We all have that childhood best friend who we can tell absolutely everything to. You can find bestie gear pretty much everywhere you go but why buy BFF t-shirt when you can have more fun making then with your best friend. All you need is a t-shirt and Tulip Permanent Fabric Markers. What you need: Tulip Permanent Fabric Markers 5 Pack Variety PackT-shirtFreezer PaperIronPrinter Start by printing out the best friend’s pattern and enlarging it to which ever size you’d like. Cut some freezer paper to fit inside the shirts. Make sure to place the shiny side of the freezer paper up towards the side you will be drawing on. Place the iron on cotton setting over the top of the shirt and adhere the freezer paper and shirt together. This will temporarily keep your fabric nice and stiff to draw on. Once you have the freezer paper on slide the best friend printout into the shirt. I like using Tulip’s Permanent Fabric Markers Variety Pack because I have marker tip options. I started with a medium tip to draw the surrounding heart. I then moved on to the best Friend part and used the large chisel tip to fill in each letter. And you can do small touch ups around the letters with the fine point markers. Two of the girls in the office, Bree and Rochelle modeled the finished shirts for me. They are actually IRL best friends. I couldn't have planned for better models!

Put Your Hand in Mine T-shirt

Put it all into perspective by making a daddy/child handprint tee. You’ll mark the moment forever with how little they are and give Dad something he’ll always wear with a smile. Iron a large piece of freezer paper to inside front of shirt. This creates a stable crafting surface and prevents paint from bleeding through to back of shirt. Pour Marine Blue onto foam plate. Have Dad press his hand into paint and then press hand onto front of shirt. Allow to dry. Pour Lime onto another paper plate and have child press hand onto paint and then over Dad’s handprint. Allow to dry. Use Black fabric marker to write “Dad” below handprints. Remove freezer paper from inside shirt. Share this:
