Birds of a feather flock to – well – to Halloween fun! This easy DIY Halloween costume from The Jamie Lynn Show turns felt and feathers into the cutest flamingo ever. And since it uses Aleene’s Super Fabric Adhesive, you know what that means: no sewing needed! Round up your little birdies, grab your glue and get ready to turn your home into a creative zoo this Halloween. Step 1 Put away the needle and thread because you won’t need them for this easy DIY Halloween costume! To get started, cut out a flamingo head shape from the pink felt, then an eye shape and stripe for the beak from the black felt. Cut an additional white stripe to fit on the beak as well. Cut out small feather shapes to cover the mask. Glue the face & beak features onto the flamingo base, then glue it onto the center of the leotard. Step 2 Working in small sections at a time, glue the felt feathers onto the mask, layering each row for added dimension. Step 3 Cut out a triangular beak shape from the black felt to fit over the nose section of the mask. Cut a curved stripe from the white felt to fit along the top edge of the beak. Glue to the black beak piece, then glue in place on the mask. Step 4 To add lots of fluffy feathers to the tutu, first cut the boas into equal lengths about 3 per boa. Measure your childs waist and cut a strip of elastic to fit. Tie the elastic at the ends to secure, then loop or tie the boas around the elastic. Glue one last strip of feathers along the bottom of the flamingo neck on the leotard. Let everything dry completely. Step 5 Wasn't that such an easy DIY Halloween costume? Just cutting and gluing for a pink flamingo thats cute as can be! Step 6 Even if your kiddos aren't trick-or-treating this year, they can still have a ton of Halloween fun! DIY Fall Glitter Pumpkins
Fall is the time of year when the days get shorter, the weather gets cooler and the colors shift from vibrant to darker earth tones. But your color palette doesn't have to tone down completely ... you can brighten up your DIY fall decor with glitter! Sparkling gold glitter ... and pumpkins ... the perfect combo for fall in our opinion. And so easy to DIY with Aleene's® Original Tacky Glue® and faux pumpkins you can pick up at the discount store. Read on for this simple tutorial to up your décor game this season! What you need: - Aleene's Original Tacky Glue - Faux pumpkins in assorted sizes - Glitter in desired color and size - Paintbrush - Disposable surface cover Make sure your pumpkins are clean and free of any dust before getting started. Cover your work surface with a protective plastic table cover since you'll be working with glitter and glue, and it can get a bit messy. For a solid coverage glitter pumpkin, squeeze some Tacky Glue onto the pumpkin and use a paintbrush to smooth the glue evenly over the pumpkin, making sure all areas are covered with glue. While glue is still wet, pour glitter over entire pumpkin and shake off excess. Let dry. Tip: shaking off excess glitter over something like a piece of scratch paper makes it easy to gather and pour back into your container. To create a word like "Fall" on your pumpkin, squeeze the glue directly from the bottle onto the pumpkin. Tip: you can first use a pencil to write out your word then tracing with glue if you aren't comfortable winging it. If you do mess up, Tacky Glue wipes away easily with a damp cloth and you can start over. While the glue is still wet, sprinkle glitter over the top until all of the glue is covered. Shake off excess glitter and let dry. You can also add glue to the pumpkin stem and cover with glitter for extra sparkly effects. For an ombré glitter pumpkin, squeeze some Tacky Glue out onto the top half (or bottom if you prefer) of the pumpkin. Use a paintbrush to smooth out the glue evenly, brushing downward toward the center of pumpkin. While the glue is still wet, sprinkle glitter over it, tapping off excess glitter. Let dry completely. So pretty and sparkly! Your DIY fall decor is ready to impress!
No-Sew Fabric Curtains
A new look for your space is easy with Aleene's Fabric Fusion. I love to sew but when I need a project done fast, Aleene's Fabric Fusion is my go to. We wanted to refresh our breakfast nook quickly and affordably ... a few yards of fabric later, our space is ready with a whole new look, thanks to Aleene's Fabric Fusion. Here's how: What you need: Aleene's Fabric Fusion Fabric (yardage will vary depending on the size of the window) Scissors Iron Measuring tape Measure the window. Each panel should be 1.5 times the width of the window and 6" longer than the height of the window. I hung these curtains in my kitchen, a bit lower than the top of the window so I measure this area instead of the full window height. Iron the fabric. Cut to 1.5 times the width of the window and 6" longer than the height of the window. Fold over the fabric on the sides of the curtain by half an inch. Press with a hot iron. Fold over the top and bottom of the curtain panel by 1/2" and iron with a hot iron. Fold over the top of the panel by about 2.5" to form a channel for the curtain rod. Press with the iron. Apply Aleene's Fabric Fusion to all of the seams and press the seams closed. Apply Aleene's Fabric Fusion to the top of the curtain panel. Fold and press down to make the sleeve for the curtain rod. Allow to dry for at least 2 hours. Thread the curtain rod through the sleeve and hang!
