Easy Painting Tutorials for Flowerpots with Acrylic Paint

What’s even better than adding greenery to your space? How about pots that are personalized too?! We’re loving these hand-painted flowerpots from Delineate Your Dwelling, who combined COLORSHOT Premium Acrylic Paints with dimensional paint for pots with some serious artistic flair. Check out her easy painting tutorials and get inspired to give your own plants a major housing upgrade in just a few simple steps. What you need: - COLORSHOT Premium Acrylic Paints – desired colors - Puffy® 3D Paint – desired colors - Terra cotta pots - Paintbrushes - Painter’s tape - PencilWipe down pots before painting Before getting started on these easy painting tutorials, grab your supplies and make sure your flowerpots have been wiped down with a damp cloth or sponge to remove any dust. Let dry completely before painting. Tape off sections for color blocking For the color blocking part of these easy painting tutorials, it helps to use painter’s tape to section off your pot. This will prevent colors from mixing on your pots, and will also give you nice, clean edges for your blocking. You can make your color blocked sections as wide or as narrow as you prefer by cutting or layering tape strips to make them thinner or wider. Paint between tape strips and let dry Brush several coats of your chosen paint colors between the strips of tape, letting dry between coats. Once you’re happy with the coverage, remove the tape and allow the paint to dry before adding dimensional texture. Sketch stripes onto color blocking The next part of this easy painting tutorial is – you guessed it – adding texture with 3D Paint! Delineate Your Dwelling wanted to create monochromatic stripes within her color blocking, so she first used a pencil to lightly sketch vertical lines. You can of course just go for it with the 3D Paint, but sketching them first can help guide you as you apply the paint. Apply 3D Paint to flowerpot Easy Painting Tutorial Pro Tip for 3D Paint: Shake your paint well before using, then tap the tip down on your work surface (cap on) to help move the paint down to the tip. Practice applying on scratch paper or paper towels to get the hang of it before applying on your flowerpots. If you mess up while applying on your pots, you can easily wipe away with a damp paper towel while the paint is still wet, then reapply. Brush random strokes of color on pot The next design idea for these easy painting tutorials is super simple but makes a fun statement! First brush random strokes of acrylic paint all over your flowerpot and let dry. Apply 3D Paint over brushstrokes For added sheen and texture to the brushstrokes, apply and brush glitter 3D Paint over the tops of your brushstrokes and let dry. You can even add additional dots of dimensional color to accent your designs! Brush acrylic paint onto top half of flowerpot Ready to get even artsier with these easy painting tutorials? First brush a base color of acrylic paint on the top half or two-thirds of a flowerpot/pitcher. Your line work doesn’t have to be straight; keep it flowing! Apply 3D Paint dots over acrylic paint Once your acrylic paint base is dry, apply dots of 3D Paint over the top. You can make them evenly spaced or in whatever pattern you like. Let paint dry completely Let all of your flowerpots dry completely before adding plants! Easy Painting Tutorials for Flowerpots Weren’t these totally easy painting tutorials? Painted Flowerpot Fabric Wrap

Painted Flowerpot Fabric Wrap

Since we're on an end of the school year kick, let's talk about teachers. (Wait, don't leave!) Most of us have had a favorite teacher or two, whether it's in the same school year or at different times growing up. Celebrate a teacher who's inspired you (or your child) throughout the school year with a customized gift. Rather than the typical teacher mug present (although those are nice too), why not try something a little different and a lot more fun - especially because you get to make it?! This hand-painted flowerpot fabric wrap is the perfect complement to a plant - what better way to say "thank you" for helping you/your child grow throughout the year?! Grab some Tulip Brush-On Fabric Paint and a fabric swatch and you can have this teacher gift ready in less time than it takes to finish a homework assignment. What you need: - Tulip Brush-On Fabric Paint in colors of choice - White fabric square (large enough to fit around flowerpot) - Terracotta flowerpot - Desired ribbon for creating bow - Paintbrushes First choose your color palette. It's always extra personal if you can find out the teacher's favorite colors, but if not, we know they'll still appreciate it just as much! Cut a fabric swatch large enough to completely wrap around the flowerpot. Load your paintbrush with Glacier White and create brushstrokes of paint in a swirl pattern, starting from the center of the fabric swatch and working your way outward to the edge of the fabric. Continue enhacing your swirl pattern with the other paint colors, working from lightest to darkest shades for best results. Once you are happy with how your swirl design looks, let the paint dry completely. Tip: you can use a blowdryer over the paint to speed up the drying process! Wrap the fabric swatch around the pot and secure with a ribbon. What teacher wouldn't love such a colorful custom gift?!
