This tutorial from Oh Yay Studio will show you how to transform plain concrete patio pavers into vibrant garden stepping stones with COLORSHOT Premium Spray Paint. Garden décor will look fresh from season to season with our durable spray paints! Supplies Needed: COLORSHOT Premium Spray Paint(This project uses Island Girl, Mermaid, Scuba, Stamped Passport, and Head in the Clouds) COLORSHOT Clear Sealer Gloss(optional) Concrete patio pavers Drop cloth or protective surface cover Premade stencil OR acetate sheets + craft knife Pencil Paper Create stencils for the garden stepping stones For this project, Oh Yay Studio created their own floral stencil for their colorful garden stepping stones! To make a stencil, create the design on paper, then trace the design onto an acetate sheet and carefully cut with a craft knife. Alternately, you can use a premade stencil for this project— just make sure it fits the size of your pavers. Select COLORSHOT Premium Spray Paint shades Select which COLORSHOT Premium Spray Paint shades you want to use for your garden stepping stones. Oh Yay Studio is using a cool blue palette consisting of Island Girl, Mermaid, Scuba, and Stamped Passport as base colors, plus Head in the Clouds for the stenciled design. Ensure your concrete patio pavers are clean and dry before you start painting. Apply base colors to garden stepping stones Place the concrete patio pavers onto a drop cloth in a well-ventilated area to protect from overspray. If you’re spray painting in your yard, you can skip the drop cloth as long as you don’t mind getting paint on the grass! Shake the can well and apply spray paint to your garden stepping stones in smooth, even strokes. Allow the paint to dry to the touch before applying additional coats as desired. Place stencil and apply Head in the Clouds spray paint Place the stencil onto the painted concrete patio paver, ensuring it lays completely flat. Apply an even coat of Head in the Clouds to the paver and allow it to dry to the touch before applying a second coat. Remove stencil and repeat with each concrete patio paver After you’ve applied a second coat of paint, carefully remove the stencil from your painted concrete patio paver. Repeat steps 3 and 4 to add floral designs to all of your garden stepping stones. Apply sealer to each concrete patio paver Once all of your garden stepping stones are painted, apply a coat of COLORSHOT Clear Sealer Glossto each concrete patio paver for an extra durable finish. Spray Painted Garden Stepping Stones with COLORSHOT Once the painted concrete patio pavers are completely dry, they are ready to display! Arrange your custom garden stepping stones in your yard as desired and admire your latest DIY!

Make a Popsicle Piñata for Your 4th of July Party

Make a Popsicle Piñata for Your 4th of July Party

One way to beat the heat this 4th of July is to have some cool party activities! Piñatas are fun for all ages and you can stuff them with candy and other themed items that everyone will love to crack open. Craft Box Girls will show you how to get into the spirit of Independence Day with a handmade popsicle piñata in red, white and blue. Grab your Aleene’s Quick Dry Tacky Glue and take a swing at this creative project! What you need: - Aleene’s Quick Dry Tacky Glue- Tissue paper – red, white, blue - Poster board (any color is fine) - Scissors- Clear packing tape- Pencil Step 1 You don’t need very many supplies to make a festive piñata for your 4th of July party! Make sure your cardboard piece is large enough to cut your popsicle shape from, in the desired size you want for your piñata. Step 2 Draw an upside-down U shape on the cardboard and cut it out. Create a smaller version of this for the Popsicle handle. Step 3 Cut strips of poster board about 4 wide and long enough to fit around the outer edge of your cardboard Popsicle shape. Cut small strips of poster board at least 2 long these will help connect your larger poster board strips to the cardboard so they act as a frame. Add dots of Quick Dry Tacky Glue every few inches along the larger strips. Step 4 Press the smaller strips into the dots of glue, then fold them upward as shown. Step 5 Add a dot of Quick Dry Tacky to the top of each connector strip. Step 6 Add glue along the outer edge of the cardboard piece. Step 7 Glue poster board around the entire perimeter of the cardboard, then cut a door on one side of the poster board, where you can insert candy after the piñata is done. Step 8 Wrap the piñata in two sheets of white tissue paper like a present, and glue in place to secure. Step 9 Cut a slit in the tissue paper at the bottom of the popsicle and insert and glue the popsicle stick piece. Step 10 Cut long strips of red, white and blue tissue paper that are about 2 inches wide. Step 11 Cut fringe along one side of each long strip of tissue paper. Step 12 Glue the red, white and blue tissue paper strips around the entire piñata, fringe side down. Layer them slightly over one another as you go, so there aren't any gaps. Don't forget to leave an opening for the door on the side! Step 13 Once everything has dried, its time to stuff the piñata and tape the door shut to secure. If you're going to be hanging your piñata, glue or staple a strand of string to the backside. And now your popsicle piñata is ready to be a total hit at your party! DIY Americana Tie-Dye T-shirt

DIY Americana Tie-Dye T-shirt

Published Date: June 25, 2020 Fourth of July is just around the corner, and however you’re celebrating this year, do it with some extra red, white & blue flair! Get patriotic with the Tulip Americana One-Step Tie-Dye Kit, which not only includes tie dye in shades of blue and red, but iron-on crystals and transfers so you can make embellished tie-dye creations that are awesomely Americana. Crafterward shows you how to DIY your own twinkling flag-inspired tie-dye T-shirt that you can sport on the Fourth and all summer long. Supplies needed - Tulip Americana One-Step Tie-Dye Kit - White 100% cotton T-shirt - Iron or heat-setting tool - Thin cloth - Disposable plastic table cover - Sealable plastic bag Instructions Prewash T-shirt and cover work surface Your Americana One-Step Tie-Dye Kit comes with all of the embellishments you need to make your own stars & stripes tie-dye T-shirt and other patriotic tie-dye creations. First you’ll want to tie dye your T-shirt before ironing on crystals or transfers. Wash your shirt (without fabric softener) and leave it damp. Make sure to cover your work surface with a disposable plastic cover before getting started on your tie dye! Pleat T-shirt and secure with rubber bands Lay your damp shirt out on your covered work surface and pleat it horizontally from the bottom hem to the shoulders using the stripes tie-dye technique. Secure your pleated shirt with rubber bands from your kit, evenly spacing your rubber bands about 2 inches apart. Add as many rubber bands as stripes you want to create, leaving a larger section of loose fabric at the top. Apply red and turquoise dyes to bound T-shirt Mix your red and turquoise dye with water according to instructions, then apply red dye to every other banded section. Apply turquoise dye to the top of the T-shirt, leaving the fabric crumpled a bit as you apply the dye. Make sure to rotate your bound T-shirt as you add dye so you get all sides. Once you’ve added the dyes, place your shirt into a sealable plastic bag and allow to set for the time recommended. Then remove the rubber bands, rinse and launder according to instructions. Heat set crystals onto T-shirt To heat set crystals onto the turquoise section of your shirt, first make sure your shirt is dry and ironed smooth. Place your crystals where you’d like them, and if using an iron, place a thin cloth over the top. Heat your iron without the steam setting on, then press the iron over the tops of the covered crystals, working in sections. Follow the instructions on your kit for full heat setting details. Check the crystals once they’ve cooled to make sure they are permanently set to the fabric, and add more heat if needed. Tulip DIY Americana Tie-Dye T-shirt Once your crystals are in place, you’re ready to shine in star-spangled style for the Fourth! You can also add transfers, change up your striping and so much more. Make your Americana tie-dye experience completely your own!

Rustic Farmhouse Coffee Station Makeover: Stenciled Coffee Sign

Rustic Farmhouse Coffee Station Makeover: Stenciled Coffee Sign

Your rustic farmhouse coffee station makeover just wouldn't be complete without a cute quote art sign that makes you smile almost as much as that first sip of coffee. Signs can be pricey, but not if you make your own out of an old one you already have. Before you give us those "But I'm not artistic!" or "But I can't draw and my handwriting is awful!" excuses, hold up. All you need is a stencil and COLORSHOT Premium Spray Paints and a Paint Marker to transform any old artwork into a brand new work of art for your rustic farmhouse coffee station makeover. Check out this cute idea from Grey Birch Designs and get inspired to make your personal coffee station the place to BE every morning. What you need: - COLORSHOT Premium Spray Paints (Blackout and Marshmallow shown here) - COLORSHOT Premium Paint Pen (Lucky Penny) - Quote art stencil Have an old sign that doesn't fit your vibe anymore? Don't toss it, turn it into something new! Pop out the base if you can (if you can't, tape around the frame to protect it from spray paint). Make sure the base is clean and free from dust, then spray several light coats of Blackout to cover the old artwork. Let dry completely. Once dry, place your stencil on the base and spray several light coats of Marshmallow over the stencil openings. Remove the stencil and let dry completely. Use the Lucky Penny Paint Marker to color in the mug design for emphasis (or whatever design you choose)! Let dry before placing back in the frame. Add your sign to your newly made over rustic farmhouse coffee station and get some java brewing to celebrate!

DIY Gilded Woodland Christmas Tree

DIY Gilded Woodland Christmas Tree

If the natural vibe is more your style when decorating for Christmas, we feel you. Sometimes nature's decorations are the prettiest ... especially when spray painted in gold. (Hey, we're a spray paint company so we gotta work in the spray paint where we can, you know?) Adding a golden touch to your woodland themed tree is oh so easy with COLORSHOT Premium Spray Paint, which will not only work on your tree, but your ornaments too! So grab a few cans of First Million, some pine cone and feather ornaments, and get ready to go for the gold this Christmas. What you need: - COLORSHOT Premium Spray Paint (we used Primer and First Million) - Faux Christmas tree - Burlap bow - Pine cones and chestnuts - White feathers - Other woodland-themed ornaments If your tree comes with lights attached, first you'll want to tape around all of the bulbs so as not to accidentally coat with spray paint. Spray the tree with a basecoat of Primer and let dry. Once your basecoat is dry, spray several light coats of First Million over the entire tree, letting dry between coats. Once you are happy with the coverage, let dry completely. Spray paint chestnuts and pinecones to match your tree, then attach hooks so you can hang them. You can even create an ombre effect on feathers by spraying the bottom half of each with First Million. Place a pretty burlap bow on top of your tree to complete the look! Go for the gold this holiday season with a gilded tree that makes you feel like royalty when you wake up on Christmas morning!

DIY Connect Four Outdoor Party Game

If you're looking for fun games for kids or fun kid activities in general, this post is for you. (We're looking at all of the tired parents and babysitters out there trying to keep the kids occupied until school starts up again.) Or hey, maybe you don't have kids and you're just a champion looking to continue your world dominance at Connect Four in your own backyard ... we get you. We love winners. And winners love using COLORSHOT Premium Spray Paint to add color to their outdoor party games (and everything else in their lives). Read on to see how you can score big on your own Connect Four outdoor party game with COLORSHOT! *Super cute dog not included. What you need: - COLORSHOT Premium Spray Paint (we used Emoji, Orange Slice, Stiletto, Mermaid, Little Black Dress) - Large wood Connect Four game with wood disc playing pieces - Painter's tape - Heavy paper or plastic If you're good at working with wood, you can most likely figure out how to make your own giant Connect Four backyard game or find a tutorial online. If you're not, you can bribe someone else to make it, or find one to purchase. The best part is adding color anyways! Because this is such a large game piece, it makes a great outdoor project since you'll want to be in a well-ventilated area with lots of space. 1. Start by taping off your board with painter's tape as shown. If you're a perfectionist, have your ruler or measuring tape handy for even spacing between sections, or you can just eyeball it. Tape around the edges of your board as well to protect from overspray. 2. Once taped off, place your game board on a protected surface and get your cans of COLORSHOT ready! 3. Use heavy paper like posterboard to protect sections from overspray, leaving only the area you plan on spraying with the first color exposed. 4. Spray several light coats of the first color onto the exposed section, letting dry in between coats. 5. Let dry then remove the heavy paper. 6. Repeat process of taping heavy paper over sections you are not working on to protect from overspray. 7. Spray the next section with several light coats of color, letting dry between coats. 8. Remove heavy paper and continue process of re-covering sections you are not working on. 9. Once you've completed all sections, carefully peel away the tape and let your game board completely dry. Stand back and admire your colorful work before putting your game face on and defending your Connect Four champion title!

Picture of American Flag Dog Bandana

American Flag Dog Bandana

Fourth of July always calls for fireworks and fun celebrations with family and friends ... but don't forget to include your furry family members in on the festivities this year! They'll love showing off their own patriotic spirit in stars & stripes style with this pawsitively adorable DIY American Flag Dog Bandana made with Tulip® ColorShot Instant Fabric Color. It's so easy to DIY, you might just want to make one for everyone in the fam - furry and non-furry alike! What you need: - Tulip ColorShot Instant Fabric Color - Red and Blue - White bandana - Freezer paper - Pencil - Craft knife or scissors - Iron - Disposable plastic table cover - Protective piece of plastic (like a garbage bag or section of tablecloth) - Star pattern (if needed) - Painter's tape Cover your work surface with a plastic table cover to protect from overspray. On a piece of freezer paper, either freehand draw or use a star pattern to trace desired number of stars onto unwaxed side of freezer paper. Use a craft knife or scissors to cut out stars. Fold bandana in half diagonally and press with a hot iron to create a crease along the fold. This will be a guideline for your design. Place strips of painter's tape about 1" apart on one side of the fold to mask off stripes. Place freezer paper stars waxy side down on the other half of bandana and use a hot iron to iron in place. This will create a temporary adhesion to the fabric to mask off star shapes from the fabric spray paint. Cover the striped section with a protective piece of plastic (a garbage bag will work, or a section of the tablecloth you are not using). Tape down the plastic along the fold. Spray several light coats of blue ColorShot over the exposed portion of the bandana, spraying directly over the star shapes as well. Note: It's better to spray several light coats versus one heavy coat for best results. Let dry and remove the freezer paper stars. Cover the star section of the bandana with protective plastic and tape down along the fold. Spray several light coats of red spray paint over the exposed fabric in the striped section. Let dry and remove the strips of tape. ColorShot dries flexible and can be washed after 72 hours, but your pet (or your fam) can wear the bandana once it's completely dry! Forget the fireworks ... your dog will definitely be the life of the party in his new patriotic pet bandana!

Summer Days Tie-Dye Sundress

Summer Days Tie-Dye Sundress

Published Date: July 06, 2015 Designed and created by Lauri Eaton Spend your summer in relaxed style that still makes a statement. Comfort meets cool with an abstract tie-dye design in beautiful shades of blue. Wash dress and leave damp. Lay out flat on covered work surface and smooth out wrinkles. Use marker to draw a few random lines and circles on dress. Pleat along these lines and secure with zip ties. Scrunch remainder of dress into random, flat bundle and secure with rubber bands. Mix dyes according to package directions. Apply Blue dye along zip tied sections of dress. Pour a small amount of Turquoise into extra mixing bottle and fill with water. Add additional dye or water to create a light shade of turquoise. Test on scrap fabric until desired shade is achieved. Repeat above step with Green dye. Apply diluted dyes randomly to scrunched sections of dress. Apply full-strength dyes sparingly to accent. Cover dyed dress with plastic and let set 6-8 hours. Remove bands and zip ties from dress, and rinse under running water to remove excess dye. Wash and dry dress as fabric requires.

How To Dye Sun Faded Patio Furniture

How To Dye Sun Faded Patio Furniture

I nabbed an amazing piece of vintage patio furniture at a Salvation Army last year. The problem was the color of the canvas on the chair and footstool looked like it had been sitting in the sun since 1978. Enter Tulip One-Step Extra Large Dye. This was just what I needed to add a pop of color back to my chair and footstool. SUPPLIES – Tulip One-Step Extra Large Fabric Dye – Canvas Chair – Water Hose In most cases when dying something you would pre-wash it to remove any sizing. That was hard to do since the canvas was attached to my chair and stool. Instead I just rinsed it well with a water hose. While my chair was still wet I saturated all the fabric in dye. I let this sit overnight on the chair. The next day I rinsed the chair and stool well with a water hose until the water ran clear. Just to be sure no wet swimmers sat in the chair and walked away red I also gently scrubbed the chair with dish soap and water. My once faded chair now zings with color and looks amazing on my patio. Now I'm debating give my patio couch cushions the shibori treatment! Check out more fun from Jennifer Perkins on her blog.
